I made another platelet donation on Saturday for cancer patients, my 7th of the year.
My draw pressure was low so I had to keep pumpings my fist, and they gave me a glove filled with hot water to squeeze & warm my blood to help it flow better. I was still on the machine for 2 hours & change. Last one to finish donating & staff were leaving while I was still having my snack. Took to closing time and then some to finish me off with my triple. I wound up riding the elevator down with the tech that drained me and 2 other staff.
Points will take about 5 days to be credited to their Donor Advantage program.

Decided I don't feel healthy and well today (GI upset; thought I was over it in the morning, but my insides had a different opinion at lunch). Thinking I'll reschedule to Thursday. The only thing is that the donation reservation software requires that you cancel and reschedule an appointment unless you miss it; if you miss it, you can reschedule it.

Donating right now. Slightly more than half done on a platelet triple. Now, everything is in slow motion while they clear the LRS chamber...

Today's donation in living color:They had an extremely slow day at the Neighborhood Donor Center. They got two automated donations today. One of the phlebotomists and yours truly.

Just got a text from the blood bank. My platelets just left the blood bank on the way to patients who need them more than I do.

Right arm is hooked up to a Trima Accel right now. Ricky did my screening and phlebotomy today. They are busier this week than last week. They commented I should be wearing Houston Rockets stuff but I’m wearing a Houston Texans fan T-shirt and “outer space” Vans. They have Hubble-like graphics on them. My housemate Chelsea thought they were perfect for a retired rocket scientist (or actually software weenie).

Ricky looked: today was my 24th donation since June 16, 2017. Out to pasture for a month! Will have to come up with other excuses to go to Bombshells (a Houston sports bar chain with waitresses who run around showing off their belly buttons). I could tell my housemates I’m off monitoring my investment in the parent company of Bombshells, RCI Hospitality.

Happy hUMp Day!
My next platelet donation is scheduled in a week, on June 6. Think of those that stormed the beaches of Normandy that day so many years ago in 1944.

Another two weeks, I'll be ready to start my 2018-2019 donation year. Hopefully will "peanut butter" my donations through the year. Did better at that during 2017-2018 than any of the earlier years I did platelets.
