10 / 20 / 18 1 - India - Christians in Uttar Pradesh are experiencing a new onslaught of persecution throughout the state, including the closing of churches, imprisonment of Christians and false accusations against pastors of forced conversions and kidnappings. On Sept. 5, police arrested a pastor and 270 church members in Jaunpur, accusing them of illegally converting Hindus to Christianity. Later, police and Hindu extremists prevented believers from attending five other churches in Jaunpur. In another incident, A VOM contact said Hindu extremists dragged a pastor in Latehar out of his church along with his wife just before a service started. Other pastors have been awakened in the middle of the night, taken from their homes and accused of false conversions. A pastor whose church was featured in a derogatory movie about Christians was alleged to have kidnapped a girl, telling her parents if they didn’t convert to Christianity he would kill her. Pray that believers in Uttar Pradesh will stand firmly on the truth. Pray for those accused and imprisoned and for the Christians working tirelessly to help those affected.
2 - Laos - Analu, a widow in her 60s, and eight other people in her village placed their faith in Christ after believers in a neighboring village visited to share the gospel. Shortly afterward, police visited Analu and told her that she and two young relatives she cares for would have to leave unless she abandoned her new faith. They told her that Christianity is a foreign religion and that it is against the law. Although Laos guarantees religious freedom, village officials are often ignorant of the law and choose to enforce their opinions arbitrarily. Pray that the new believers will trust Jesus more during this trial and for greater understanding among village authorities.
3 - Uganda - Elizabeth was a secret believer for a year before she told her Muslim husband. While working in her shop one day, she heard an audible voice saying, “Seek me and find your life.” Seeking to know the God who had spoken to her, she visited a church and eventually came to faith in Christ. She attended prayer meetings regularly, but only when her husband was gone. After about a year, she realized she needed to be honest with her husband and tell him about her Christian faith. In response, he beat her and left her. Elizabeth had five children, and shortly after her husband left she learned that she was pregnant with their sixth child. The past two years have been difficult for her; she struggles financially and her community mocks her. Pray that Elizabeth will remain strong in her faith.
4 - Nigeria (ICC) - Boko Haram recently released a video depicting the execution of Hauwa Leman, an aid worker with International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). This is the second captive who Boko Haram has killed recently, as they killed Saifura Khorsa on September 15. They said that they killed Hauwa and Saifura for being apostates. Pray for the family and friends of both Hauwa Leman and Saifura Khorsa. Pray for the Nigerian government to take stronger action against Boko Haram. Pray for the release of others being held captive by Boko Haram.
5 - Pakistan (ICC) - Thousands of religious extremists in Pakistan took to the streets in Lahore on October 12 to demand that Asia Bibi, a Christian woman currently on death row for blasphemy, be executed. The extremists then threatened the Supreme Court justices hearing Bibi’s appeal, saying that they would meet a “horrible” end if they released Bibi. Pray for the swift release of Asia Bibi. Pray for protection for Asia Bibi and those involved in her case following her release. Pray for those who are advocating for her execution to come to know the salvation of Christ.
6 - Sudan (ICC) - On October 13, 12 Christian men from Darfur were arbitrarily arrested by officers from the Sudan National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) for mingling with local Muslims. Christians in Sudan who convert from Islam often face discrimination and hostility as a result of their faith, as they are considered apostates who deserve the death penalty among radical Muslims. Pray for the release of the 12 Christians who have been arrested. Pray for there to be peace between the Christian and Muslim communities in Darfur. Pray for the Gospel to spread throughout Sudan.
7 - Nigeria – (ACLJ) - Boko Haram, the Nigerian jihadist army pledged to ISIS, stormed a village and abducted 110 schoolgirls. Five were killed. 104 were eventually freed. Yet one brave teen named Leah Sharibu remains a prisoner because she will not renounce her Christian faith. Nigerian Christians are being targeted, abused, and murdered by sadistic jihadist militias like Boko Haram. Their government seems unable or unwilling to stop this deadly persecution. We must take action to save Leah Sharibu and defend our Christian brothers and sisters. Pray that Leah Sharibu must be brought home safely.

When will the West take a stand on the persecution of Muslims?
"Anti-Christian persecution, for so long a great untold story, has started to gain the world’s attention. But the suffering of Christian communities, from Syria to Nigeria to China, is part of an even broader phenomenon. Religious conflict is on the rise across the globe, with ancient tensions being raised by new political methods. And in many countries — Sri Lanka, India, the Central African Republic and elsewhere — it’s Muslims who have the most reason to fear violence. In Burma, they may even have been victims of genocide."
We, as Christians, should be praying for ALL who are persecuted, not just those of us who 'play for the same team'.

Pray that whatever their circumstances, God will give persecuted Christians the right words.
In Ephesians 6:19-20, Paul asks fellow believers to “Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.”

10 / 26 / 18 1 - Nigeria - The middle-belt city of Jos has remained in turmoil since Fulani Islamic militants began an ongoing campaign of violence in the region. On Sept. 27, Nigerian military personnel allowed a group of Fulani men to enter the Rukuba Road neighborhood in Jos, where the Fulani militants killed 20 people in their homes. Angry with both the Fulani and the military, residents of the neighborhood rioted. Several people were killed and property was destroyed. Attacks continued for days, with reports of Fulani militants dressed as soldiers knocking on doors and then slaughtering residents with machetes and guns. On Oct. 1 and 2, the terrorists killed seven at the University of Jos. “The people who have been injured include children as young as 2 years old,” a VOM staff member said. VOM staff in the region are focusing on helping the injured and encouraging those who have lost family members. Please pray for intervention.
2 - Indonesia - Officials closed three churches on Sept. 27 on the island of Sumatra. Police sealed the buildings of the Indonesia Christian Huria (HKI), Indonesian Methodist Church (GMI) and God's Assemblies Church (GSJA) citing permit violations while congregants wept. In the previous decade, Indonesian authorities have closed more than 1,000 church buildings. The Taman Yasmin Indonesian Christian Church in Bogor, Indonesia was closed in 2008, but the church fought back and petitioned the courts. The case went before the Supreme Court and they won, but Bogor’s mayor continued to prevent the church from meeting in their building. For several years, the congregation met in front of the property, but the constant protests and threats by extremist Muslims forced them to relocate. Today, the church building remains vacant and in disrepair. Pray for Christians as they gather without church buildings.
3 - Malawi - VOM workers report with joy about a movement of God happening among the Yao people in Malawi, Mozambique and Tanzania. Once considered an “unreachable” people group, today there are more than 4,000 believers among the predominantly Muslim Yao people. Breakthrough came about five years ago. Prior to that, there were only three dedicated believers working among the Yao. Something shifted and new Yao Christians chose to stay in their communities while being persecuted instead of fleeing. Their presence, and the forgiveness and love they have demonstrated, caused many hearts to be open to the good news. Now, entire villages are following Christ and some of the old mosques are being used as churches. Praise God! And pray for those who continue to labor among the Yao.
4 - India (ICC) - On September 4, Pastor Mathai Varghese, a 57-year-old pastor, was abducted and beaten by a mob of Hindu radicals in India’s Rajasthan state. When police finally intervened, the pastor was arrested along with the assailants and was falsely accused of taking part in a communal clash and attempting to forcefully convert an old woman. Pray for the physical and emotional healing of Pastor Varghese. Pray for authorities in India to treat minority Christians as equal citizens under the law. Pray for these Hindu radicals to hear and accept the Gospel.
5 - Turkey (ICC) - Only a day after Pastor Andrew Brunson was released from his two-year detainment in Turkey, Turkish authorities arrested another U.S. missionary. David Byle was arrested in Ankara on Saturday, October 13, by the Anti-Terror Police Department. Byle was interrogated and then ordered to leave the country right after his release on Sunday afternoon. Pray for the freedom to openly preach the Gospel in Turkey. Pray for Turkish authorities to respect the work of foreign missionaries. Pray for David Byle’s ministry to thrive following this incident.
6 - Algeria (ICC) - Algerian police closed a church on October 16. Government officials ordered the closure in February after inspecting the site and demanding that the church be renovated to comply with safety codes. Even after the church closed for three weeks for renovations, police notified the building owner that they were going to close the building on orders from provincial officials. Pray for authorities to reverse their decision and reopen the church. Pray for this congregation to stay firm in their faith despite these new obstacles. Pray for greater religious freedom throughout Algeria.
7 - Nigeria (ICC) - A Christian tribal chief has been kidnapped while returning from a visit with his state governor in Kaduna, Nigeria. Agom Adara, the chief, was returning to his village when gunmen attacked his vehicles and killed his security team and driver. He had been visiting with Governor El-Rufai to speak about the continual problem of Fulani militants in his chiefdom. Pray for the safe return of Agom Adara. Pray for his abductors to repent of their actions and turn to Christ. Pray for greater protection for the Christian community in Nigeria.

I do believe this topic was labeled to pray for "persecuted Christians around the world"......I will start a topic on prayers for the lost, and non Christian, and anyone you want to pray for. Christians should never promote limiting themselves to just praying for other Christians - so I'm making sure this thread isn't misinterpreted as that and making it all-encompassing as needed since the OP will not.

Honduran caravan pushes forward after Mexican police standoff
"Most migrants and refugees are fleeing violence and unemployment in Honduras, a country with one of the highest per capita homicide rates in the world. More than two-thirds of Hondurans live in poverty, according to the World Bank.
For many of those fleeing Honduras, the harsh conditions along the route north pale in comparison to conditions at home. Most caravan participants have told Al Jazeera they are seeking better lives for themselves but especially their children, either by taking them to safety or by seeking work to be able to support their families back home."
These poor people.... I'm surprised these folks haven't made JIT's prayer list yet.

Good news: Asia Bibi has been acquitted and released. Pray for her safety, and that of her friends and relatives. Pray for the Pakistani government that they may receive God's wisdom and courage in dealing with radicals that want to riot and even overthrow the government. Pray for Pakistani citizens to be protected from the radicals.

11 /2 / 18 1 - Pakistan - Sana, the daughter of a man killed in the Dec. 17, 2017, church bombing in Quetta, Pakistan, expressed her gratitude recently for the support she has received from VOM. At least 11 people, including her father, George, were killed and 50 others seriously injured in the pre-Christmas attack on a Methodist Church. Sana and her husband, who shared a home with her father, have struggled financially without the help of George’s income as a day laborer, but VOM has helped Sana start a beauty salon to provide additional income. Pray for Sana and others like her who have lost family members in anti-Christian attacks, and pray that field workers will continue to develop creative ways of helping them.
2 - Kyrgyzstan - Eldos, 26, was listening to praise music while house-sitting for his older brother, when three radical Muslims broke into the house and demanded that he recite the Muslim confession of faith. When Eldos refused, they began to beat him. They knocked out some of his teeth, broke his jaw, damaged one eye and gave him a concussion. After the beating, the men forced Eldos outside to wash the blood off and then told him to stay in bed until morning, when he should leave the village for good. When a VOM contact visited him in an area hospital, Eldos said the doctors were reluctant to treat him because he is a Christian. He also said the local police wanted to charge the attackers with a misdemeanor instead of a religious hate crime. Relatives of the attackers are pressuring Eldos’s family, offering money in exchange for dropping the case. Eldos has since had emergency surgery. Pray for Eldos’s recovery and that his Christian parents will remain strong under this pressure.
3 - Uganda - Malik and his wife were thrown out of his family’s house after he told them they were Christians. But he refuses to return to Islam, even though his father has offered to let them re-join the family if he would do so. Malik was a Muslim for a long time, but he struggled to understand Muslim traditions. When an evangelist shared the gospel with him, Malik readily accepted Christ. He kept his Christian faith to himself at first but eventually told his family. They immediately began to threaten the couple, even telling his wife’s family they would kill her. Finally, the couple was thrown out of the family home, and they left everything behind. Since then, Malik has been growing in faith. “Malik is doing major progress as a Christian,” a VOM worker said. Pray that Malik and his family will remain strong in faith.
4 - Pakistan - (ICC) - On October 31, the Supreme Court of Pakistan acquitted Asia Bibi of the blasphemy conviction she had been sentenced to death under for nearly a decade. The judgment announced rendered the death sentence against Bibi null and void. Pray for Asia Bibi’s protection in the midst of threats following her release. Praise God for Asia Bibi’s freedom. Pray for this decision to lay the foundation for the reform of Pakistan’s blasphemy laws.
5 - China (ICC) - On October 21, a group of Chinese police officers broke into Yongfu Church, located in the Fujian province, during a Sunday service. Although police claimed that they were there to “enforce the laws,” they entered the building without consent or any official documentation and harassed the congregants. Pray for Chinese authorities to respect the freedom of Christian churches. Pray for this congregation to remain unified despite these challenges. Pray for greater religious liberty in China.
6 - Cameroon (ICC) - An American missionary to Cameroon, Charles Wesco, has been killed less than two weeks after arriving on the field. After years of preparation, he was killed before he could even get started on the missions he wanted to do in Cameroon due to the increase in sectarian violence. Pray for Charles Wesco’s wife and children as they grieve this loss. Pray for those responsible for Wesco’s murder to be held responsible. Pray for an end to the sectarian violence throughout Cameroon.
7 - Somalia - A month ago, the Somalia-based terror group al-Shabaab flagged down a passenger bus traveling from Garissa to Masalani, Kenya, separating Muslims from Christians. Consequently, Fredrick Ngui Ngonde and Joshua Ooko Obila were killed for declining to recite the Islamic creed.
8 - Pakistan - Cecil, a 15-year-old Christian boy living in Karachi, Pakistan was attacked and brutally tortured for his faith in Jesus Christ. The persecution began in February after Cecil confronted a group of Islamic seminary students and asked them not to enter into his neighborhood and forcefully convert Christians to Islam. The students mocked Cecil and threatened him, telling him not to “become a hurdle in their mission.” Shortly after this exchange, at midnight Cecil and his family were attacked. The mob attacked their house and tortured family members which resulted in minor injuries to the family’s women and head injuries to Cecil. The attackers broke the doors, windows, fans, furniture, damaged the vehicle, and looted the valuables, including two laptops, four mobile phones, and cash. To ensure Cecil’s protection, a local church-led organization transferred Cecil to a safer location for six months. Cecil is still under medical treatment and his life is being threatened.” As Cecil and his family remain in hiding, ICC is working with the family to help cover all of Cecil’s medical costs. ICC is also seeking a way to ensure that Cecil and his family are protected in the days to come so that they can live a life free from fear of attack.
9 - Egypt – (ICC) International Christian Concern has learned that on November 2, 2018, masked gunmen attacked a bus of Coptic Christians traveling from Minya City. According to the Coptic Orthodox Church, seven Christians were killed during today’s attack and 13 were wounded, including children.
