I have an idea why this happens but I want the real reason. Why do prices at certain stations keep reverting to previous ones about 1-2 hours after I posted
the correct ones. The prices always to prices that were current at one time but not now. I realize gas buddy has been rendered useless of finding low prices in most cases. I have seen so many incorrect prices posted that I rarely trust it. The only ones that are correct are maybe Sam's and Costco in my area. As I said I have an idea why it's done I just wanted somebody to admit how it is done.

I have seen some of the same thing in my area. I will find find prices changed back to higher prices after a price drop at a couple major brand type stations that surround an independent place. The 2 posters involved also keep posting the "Diesel" at the independent about 30¢/gallon less that what it is. After I post the correct prices, they will be changed later by the same people. I do wonder if some of this is in retaliation for the 2 major places, which are the same brand, dropping their price back to try to squeeze the independent into raising their price on "Price Hike Day".
There is also a 3rd poster who posts another station at the higher price, even though it was matching the other major name in the area. This person also posts the "Diesel" at a station on the other end of town way under the real price. Is this to try to fool Gas Buddy into thinking that these prices might actually be "honest"?
This pattern I have observed leads me to believe that the posters involved might be workers or friends of the independent place.
After hearing of how the GB "Powers That Be" have handled complaints about this thing in the past, I have decided it is not worth it for me to get involved trying to fix it, since the GB Management seems to be interested more in Quantity of Prices, rather than Quality. Ever notice the comments by "Long Term GasBddies" who have opted for the Exit door? Maybe not, since the White Boards where comments about this stuff were posted were removed by GB Management a few years ago.

I have always wonder about that in my area where there is always that one person that seems to put in the old prices day after day, year after year. I don't know how the Gas Buddy app works. When you use the app on your cell phone and see the "confirmation", does it take two people back to back in the area to change the price? Does the other person that post the same station all the time still, just go down the list and post for points and never change the price, still show the old price on their device until someone else in the area confirms the price change? There is another poster in the area of my town and their prices are always spot on. I know prices change but there are patterns in my area where you know certain posters post the correct price and others seem to always put in the old price for some reason.

TNforE0,
I have something similar going on in my area lately.
There are at least 3 different users who update the price of gas at a particular station and just copy the prior persons gas prices. I know this, because one of the users puts in the wrong price, over and over again for the mid-grade of fuel - I don't know why they do this. Then the other two users, throughout the day, just update the 1st person's prices to the same thing.
Then, after I update the correct prices, I'll look on a computer and see the incorrect mid-grade price, listed hours before mine showing along with my recent updates to the price for Reg and High Octane.

Same thing keeps happening. I'll update prices at this one station and some random user will "supposedly" come in and update the wrong Mid-Grade price an hour later. They'll get the Regular and Premium price correct but yet the Mid-Grade price will ALWAYS be wrong? WTH?? Attachment Deleted

What's wrong with posting it here? Is this place now off limits from discussing GasBuddy issues? imgur.com/m0yAChm

...and another thing. How and WHY do you put that HUGE collage of pictures in your signature line? I didn't take you for an Obama supporter - but hey, to each their own! Video of GasHole's Signature page ---> imgur.com/m0yAChm

I notice the same strange behavior with the reverting prices. The regular price stays current but the mid/prem/diesel all show a posting time hours earlier and the wrong when I check back in a few hours. What is really funny is that the mid/prem prices showing now are two prices that I posted a while back just to test what is going on. Somehow these prices became the 'official prices" . I had only left them posted for a short time before I reposted the correct prices. If there are people who still trust the prices reported on the app they are be very unhappy if they come to this station expecting gas to be a cheap as they are expecting.

Another mystery I have noticed, Someone will have posted the regular and diesel price, but no mid grade and premium price so you put in all 4 prices, so 10-20 hours later you go to post the prices again and on your phone app only the regular and diesel price still show, but the mid grade and premium price are no longer on your phone app anymore.

Worse than ever now with gas prices skyrocketing; these week and last week 3 major price hikes with people still putting in 2 week old gas prices!!!! When I see "Fake" prices put in by those just going through the motions...I'll usually call them out on the Gas Station Review screen by name and tell them to Stop posting fake/old prices. It's worked to get a few of them to stop posting old/fake prices but not all. ...at least, to those who look at the reviews, they get notified that some prices, by certain people, may be fake/old. I've tried reporting to GasBuddy some abusers of the price postings, along with screen shots and actual pump price pictures...but they don't care, they only want clicks and that's all that matters to GB. GB does not care about the accuracy. This is surprising, as pd tweets about stats all the time that he pulls from GB.
