Baron, assure your dear wife there is nothing to be afraid of. At least 99% of those people who cross over from Messico are simply trying to escape the horrors of a *hole country. I have loved and taught lots of them and they now pop up as hardworking CITIZEN grandparents in places like Ohio and Michigan and elsewhere to tell me they still appreciate what I did for them when they were three years old or whatever. The only ones to fear are the terrorists from China and the Middle East who are SENT across to try to destroy this country.
But THAT is about to come to a screeching TRUMP halt!

Good morning everyone,
We can only hope, Docputer.
The Veteran's Day dinner at the American Legion was interesting, except for the food. I'll pass next time.
We're having a corned beef brisket tonight for dinner. The AZ husband is coming, and our friend with the back surgery is back here, so he's invited.

Guten Morgen Doc.
Just breakfast cereal here, nuttin' honey.
Yea, bad try at humor, but yesterday was busy, busy, busy. Not complaining, just saying.

Good morning everyone,
Going to the Legion Hall this morning to get fitted for my color guard outfit.
The AZ wife got home, but I haven't seen her yet.

Put some drywall up on the front porch then went to grandson's birthday yesterday. Today, Church, nap, Church, bed. It was supposed to rain early this morning, it didn't. They guess it's supposed to rain tomorrow.

Baron, didja ever wonder why it's called drywall? Seems to me if they sell drywall at Home Depot they should stock wetwall, too, right?
Hmmmm...okay, so I looked it up, and FINALLY I actually understand. Before "drywall," most walls --- and ceilings --- were covered with "plaster"....or a sort of "mud" that was spread all over and allowed to dry.
Actually, I know a lot about plaster. The walls and ceiling of the house we lived in when I was a little guy were plaster, and one night, the whole ceiling in part of the hallway fell down and I woke up covered in dust and little pieces of that crap. That was during WWII, when we had black covers on all the windows to keep the Krauts and the Japs from bombing....or so they said. We never got bombed, thank God, but that night everybody in the house THOUGHT we did for a little while.
Yep...makes sense...y'NAIL drywall down, so that doesn't happen...for one thing.

Doc, my house was built in 1889, balloon construction. The whole house is a bit crooked and off square. That's the back story. The house was originally lath and plaster. The upstairs is now drywall with plaster over it. The downstairs is lath, plaster, drywall, then plaster. The walls and ceilings are two inches thick! (I don't live in a house, I live in a bomb shelter!) Shortly after we moved in I put a ceiling fan in the living room. I got my handy dandy stud finder out and eventually decided where the ceiling joists were located and cut the hole to hang the fan. I missed the side of the joist by 2 inches. (Yes, this house has 2" X 4" 2X4s.) I was right square under the joist. That's how I know the house has real 2" X 4" joists and walls. Square nails too. Anyway, I screwed a 2" rectangle box under the joist and and used that to hang the ceiling fan.
Wiring? That I ran from an outlet and hung the extension cord from decorative hooks to the fan, that was 1996 and the fan is still there.
Plaster over dry wall? That's the way Leonard, the owner from about 1950 to 1995, did it. Leonard was a genius. Genius's are nuts.
That, gentlemen, is the rest of the story.
Actually, this house is a never ending story.

Good morning everyone,
Well, it seems that the AZ wife didn't like your message, Docputer. I didn't send it to her, but I did send it to her husband. It turns out that one of his sons got into a political fight with the AZ wife and threatened to not come for their Christmas celebration. I'm getting the blame, which is probably fair. Not sure if our Thanksgiving invitation to dinner with them is still good.

It's raining here in Tremont. It's supposed guessed to rain until 1400, start again at 1900 and rain until with thunder bumpers until 0300, then clear up.
Dat's all the news from our little village.

Baron, that is interesting stuff, but I'm sure glad that's your house and not mine. lol
WRINC, if I were you, I'd call that situation fortunate and go on about my business. You don't need people like that.
Meanwhile, Kimbu and I cried all night because yesterday our Spunky Boo just stopped breathing and went away from us. We have no idea why, and the vet has no idea why....he just stretched out on his blanket and went away.
We won't be getting anymore furry angels. We love them too much and they just don't live long enough for me to go away first.
RIP, Spunky Boo Holmes. You were a wonder...and a Godsend to us...

Good morning everyone,
She's backed off, just asking to keep politics, including jokes, out of the mix.
They've got enough problems with their kids (from previous marriages) so I think that's reasonable.
