Not sure if anyone even visits here any more but I'll tell what happened anyway.
Tuesday early evening I looked out the kitchen window only to see one of my birdhouses had fallen. It was face down. So, out I went & stood it upright, but when I did, there laid 3 baby birds; naked as a J-bird you might say. They had no feathers. They were all skin & bones & their little legs, wings & beaks were going 50 mph. I just knew if I picked them up & put them back in here the Mother would never have anything to do with them again. That's what I'd been told when younger & I just knew I couldn't touch them.
The next morning I went out and there was Mothers tail feathers sticking out of the birdhouse. She didn't move. There were no babies in sight so I knew she'd taken care of them.
I was gone most of the day, but when returning, for some reason I checked again. There was no Mother, no babies. What happened is beyond me.
And, after some checking I found out that the Mother will NOT abandon the little ones. That's all a myth!

Well, that was a good story, Babe. I happen to like birds too. Maybe she moved them to another nest? Have a good Tuesday.

About 2 weeks ago I finally got the birdhouse back up,plus a new one. I have yet to see any birds even on the roofs let alone go inside.
I also filled the large feeder with finch food & they don't eat it. So, I emptied it out for other birds & it's still there. The seed my have been no good. Wish I still had the receipt, but the it is about half gone.

I was visited by a Baltimore Oriole yesterday. Hummingbirds still haven't showed at my nectar feeder, but my neighbor has 1 male showing at theirs.

Plenty of Cardinals, Squirrels and Sparrows have been eating from the bird feeders lately. My annual hummingbirds
never came back after leaving for the winter. I've had others tell me that their hummingbirds aren't at their feeders.
It's a mystery. I heard Mr. Woodpecker two days ago and saw him pecking the inside out of a tree top. Hopefully, there
will be little ones poking their heads out of the holes around the limb. The woodpeckers make a distinct sound, and I
always look for them when I hear it.
