iPhone 6S. The big problem with iPhones is the damned cable flaking out. Now with the Lightning connector scheme, there are a lot of people trying to scam you by saying their cables have the iPhone chip in them, when they don't. Without the chip, the pins can't be directed to a given purpose (charging, data transfer, etc.). Apple has decided to switch connectors again. Lightning connector is too flaky to my way of thinking. They're reportedly going to a USB-C connector. My iPhone died, and I couldn't resist the bang for the buck of an Android phone. And the Android phone has a USB-C connector on it.
I now have a Motorola moto z3 (a model that is up to now only on Verizon). It even runs that infamous GasBuddy App! It's got a 6" screen, but it's tall and not much wider than my old iPhone SE.
Figured out how to put my own wallpaper on it. After trying a few pictures, I decided to go with the left side of this one. I'm the STEM geek that's standing up and looking towards the console of a 1965-era IBM System/360 Model 50 (which has a slower processor than the Motorola does):

What the? Apple using a standardized connector? Has hell frozen over?
Or are they going to switch the pinout so you can't use generic USB-C devices?

Wife's phone, same model as mine but 2 yrs older got a new battery at the Mall and it's been easily 60 days now and running just like new..Mine is a year old and I really have no issues...I hope it last a long time, I am a happy camper with no need for a more expensive unit yet.

What the? Apple using a standardized connector? Has hell frozen over? Apple uses a lot of standardized connectors. Most everything that goes into a Mac nowadays goes there by USB. The peripherals that ran on my Mac had no trouble running on my ThinkPad. Only the iPhone and iPad have proprietary connectors; but they have USB cables to get to the real world outside the device.
But when you're industry leader, what you come up with will likely become a standard. After all, the "everybody uses it, or at least they do on vintage hardware" RCA connector was once proprietary to RCA. You do remember RCA, don't you? General Electric bought them and split them into a million pieces for sale to the highest bidder. I was going to say my year-old TV doesn't have an RCA connector. It will take composite video and stereo audio on RCA connectors for compatibility with ancient hardware that doesn't implement HDMI. I think everything I have with a video input or output does HDMI.
Same thing was true about most of the files. I did have to export my iWork files to a format that I could share with LibreOffice. If I would have stuck with Microsoft Office I would have been fine.

It's different when you become a standard because nothing fits the bill before, versus using an existing standard that works just fine. USB has always fit the bill, but instead they decided to use something that reverse engineered connectors simply don't work properly with... RCA is quite simple to make your own...

Found something that the iPhone will do that an Android Pie phone won't: Block a caller. However, the Android phone will let you send the call to voicemail. Got two calls from The Annoying One (my housemate's ex-girlfriend) where the phone didn't even ring, it went straight to voicemail. But she didn't leave any message (thank God!).

Found something that the iPhone will do that an Android Pie phone won't: Block a caller. Found where you go to block a caller on my Motorola z3. Unlike iOS, you can't from the contact list but you can from the list of numbers that have called you. But I searched the owner's manual and it didn't come up when I searched for "block". Only under Duo (the Android phone equivalent of FaceTime).

Moto Z2 Play phone and Asus ZenPad 10" tablet. Both are great on battery life, but the tablet is stuck on Android 7.0.0 - which means no shortcuts when you long press on the icons (that's for 7.1 and above).

My iPH 6S Battery started giving me troubles, 2 yrs old right now, found a place 1 ml from Home at the Hammocks, had a new battery installed in under 30 minutes, 90 days warranty and just $40.00 ... At a Dadeland Mall Quiosk and The Apple Store they want $50.00 and I have to travel 10 mls one way.
Done Deal, I should be good for quite a while again.
