Look in the history books. Titusville is the first town where oil was discovered by Colonel Drake. And at one time I saw a monkey in the field. Actually my brother had a pet one and he use to climb the trees.

A pair of Canadian geese stopped by to fish in my pond this morning. They don't mind if it's raining either.

lacylady - of course you can download any picture of mine. I always thought that unless there's a copyright on a picture, it's fair game for all to use. Thank you for asking though! Btw, when your son crosses PA, he's most likely using I-80. When he hits the Susquehanna River at exit 212, I'm only 17 miles north of there.

A huge red-tail hawk is patrolling the corn field right behind my house. Wish it would start checking out my yard for voles - there's plenty here for it to eat.

Well I haven't seen supper strutting around the back yard. All I see are black Angus drinking from the creek. Turkey season is in full swing but the turkeys don't seem to know it. Our guys think the season could be off this year and the breeding may be over. 🍗 I guess it will be brats tonight.

niaw1 Just got a hunting report. Big Tom all strutted out, never got a shot. THEN A pair of BOBCATS breeding! What a show my Son got to see tonight. Very first BOBCAT sighting! niaw, do you hunt? The trail cams are so cool. For every special occasion, I get a picture from a trail cam made into a greeting card. I sure wish they were up and I could have a picture of the bobcats on a Mother's Day card!

happycamper - no, no hunting here, although I do live in a location known for its hunting (northcentral PA). Not sure if I'd want to see a couple of bobcats breeding, although I'm sure it's going on in my backyard or very close by. Apparently my neighbor, who lives next to a corn field, has several shots of our local bobcat, but all of them are at night; my picture is in broad daylight (~11:20 AM last year, and it was beautiful!

I printed the picture you posted and it is on the frige! Yes, it is beautiful. The bobcat sighting has been reported. The DNR said, in our County, there have only been 11 reports ever made. The only reason they were even detected was because of the fuss they were making. I think the man at the DNR was as excited as us!

happycamper - when I first saw our bobcat, I too called DNR. They couldn't have been less interested! Seems that bobcats are a dime a dozen around here

happycamper - are morels anything like ramps? My son in Syracuse likes to go hunting for ramps this time of year.

Well, niaw1 I had to look this one up! Allium tricoccum (commonly known as ramp, ramps, spring onion, ramson, wild leek, and wood leek) is a North American species of wild onion widespread across eastern Canada and the eastern United States. Morels are the most prized of all mushrooms, they come grey, black, and yellow. They are in season from mid April to mid May. Everyone has a secret hunting spot. We also have mushroom festivals. Locally it is known as mushroom fever. They are a real delicacy and prized by all. They auction them at the festival's, the average price is $100.00 a pound. Attachment Deleted Attachment Deleted
