Yes, niaw, I agree the frogs are a sure sign that summer is almost here.
Today I saw the geese in my upper pond with their 5 goslings who are getting bigger every time I see them. When they saw me pulling in the driveway they swam to the other side of the pond and went into the high grass. I pulled out my phone to take a photo but they moved away too fast.

sandipaws - no geese around here - just a "herd" of guinea hens that patrols my yard several times a day. They started out at 12 last November, but now they're down to 4 (2 grey, 2 black). Don't know who they actually belong to, nor why their numbers are dwindling - no evidence of them being hit on the cross ("why did the guinea hen cross the road?" - to see how many cars stop for them on the 45 mph road. In most cases, all of them).

niaw1 , we have talked about the bobcat you captured on your trail cam. It is certainly a beauty! On our local news they showed a mountain lion that killed a horse only a few miles from me! I took a screen shot so I could share it with you. If we have them in West Central Indiana, I bet you have them too!

happycamper - earlier this week I had a large wolf pass by the Stealth Cam in the idle of the night. Definitely not a dog. Haven't seen the g.hens lately - may this guy is why.

And you too sandipaws! This man raises horses but several people in town sent him pictures of a mountain lion in their yards, taken with their phones. niaw1, Wolves? OMG first bobcats, now mountain lions, My mushroom hunting days may be over.... Whether you live in the city or countryside, there are extra steps you can take to keep your pets safe during the winter. "Just keep them within sight if at all possible and try to keep them out during daylight hours, only" Luann Modesitt said. Other tips include covering outside food sources and keeping animals inside safe from harms way. "Dogs are your protectors, so this time of year, keeping them safe is very important because they can get away or disappear easily," Modesitt said. Murray, the horse owner has gotten a permit from the state to shoot the animal that led to the death of his horse. Typically, mountain lions can't be found in Indiana. But their range has expanded because food sources like deer are now more available farther north.

niaw1, Great picture! Now that is scary. Looks like it is eating well, just as the mountain lion does. ..and this is in your back yard! Love the trail cams! We last set ours up by a small, partially eaten deer, hoping to see the bobcats. Didn't think the buzzards would go into the brush but that was all we captured on the cam.

niaw1, Prayers for you are on my to-do list, but I'd like to be able to cross that item off real soon. Get lots of rest and recover as good as new!Hunting season is over so my Son brought the trail cams home from the woods. Guess what was found! Yeah! Don't look like it has missed a meal.

badpetroleum - I don't have mature enough trees to hear/have woodpeckers at my house. Maybe in a few years.
