I went out, essentially with a clean sheet of paper because our home entertainment was basically wiped out, and decided to switch from DirecTV to all streaming after Hurricane Harvey. I do have backup antennas on some of the TV sets.
We had Amazon Prime Video and NETFLIX, and kept them.
I watch some of the Roku channels (now having four Roku TV sets and a Roku STB for the set that was not lost in Harvey). In fact I'm watching "Tipping Point" on One America News Network right now.
I did have DirecTV NOW for a while, then I decided to switch to Xfinity Instant TV. The things I didn't like about DirecTV NOW was no DVR capability and not all of the local channels. Xfinity Instant TV has both. And the streaming TV on Xfinity Instant TV doesn't eat into your Xfinity Internet terabyte bandwidth cap.

Hi sneakers, We have Direct TV with the 18 inch dish, we also have one of the new digital type antennas the picks up over the air brodcasting (about 35 channels). We are RVers and these antennas work without the need of an Internet connection.

We have Directv, pretty good service except for rain and snow washouts. Don’t like the price. We use Netflix, Amazon prime and Hulu streaming services. We have three generations in our house and wants vary.

We have three generations in our house and wants vary. It seems every time I wanted to see a weather forecast, DirecTV wouldn’t cooperate. And, for the price I was paying for AT&T Internet, I got an order of magnitude faster service out of Comcast. AT&T makes me offers to come back, but they go in the paper shredder along with all the credit card offers. If paper shredders were like people, mine would get fat!

The August 2018 issue of CONSUMER REPORTS had reviews of streaming set-top boxes (they liked the ROKU Ultra the best, I've got one), and what they called "cable replacement services." (Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, etc.)
They reviewed DirecTV NOW, but they didn't review Xfinity Instant TV. But then DirecTV NOW runs on any plain old broadband (including, but undoubtedly not limited to, AT&T Internet and Xfinity Internet) while Xfinity Instant TV has a prerequisite of Xfinity Internet. Xfinity Instant TV runs down the cable TV pipe to your cable modem, then it converts it to a Wi-Fi signal. No wires required but then you can feed it hardwired to your favorite STB with an RJ-45 connector.
Xfinity Instant TV has more granular service, except for the fact they make News and Sports into one package. If you want to do CNBC (or a number of other cable news channels), you have to take ESPN (and a number of sports channels) with it. However, it seems a lot of Houston sports teams get into the playoffs and it seemed that they were never covered by anything other than cable channels.

My house caretaker has one of the ROKU TV sets in his bedroom. He was talking about getting an antenna for it so he could watch something other than NETFLIX. I guess some day I'll have to sit down and show him Xfinity Instant TV.
It will do two streams. I don't know if that's a hardware limitation or if it's an arbitrary limit in their software. My house caretaker's kids never stream, they play video games. They do watch anime sometimes on Netflix.
Me? I'm either streaming audio or watching the news. My house doesn't yet have all the doors replaced (house was damaged during Hurricane Harvey). My house caretaker's former girlfriend complained about being in the kitchen and having to listen to "his music" and "his news."
