Inca people used knots to keep records. Instead of handwritten notes, Inca people used knots tied on pendants and cords to do their accounting. Called quipu, the types of knots and their location relative to the top of the cord would modify the meaning of the apparatus. About 600 examples of quipu have been discovered so far. Who knew?

Mmm, strawberry ice cream for me, please.Water bottle expiration dates are for the bottle, not the water. Eventually the plastic will start leaching into the liquid. How long is that? 2 months to 100 years. It depends on the chemical makeup of the plastic. Who knew?

Who Knew???Each year on January 16th, people across the nation recognize National Nothing Day.
The observance was created as a day to provide Americans with one National Day when they can just sit without celebrating, observing or honoring anything. (National Day Calendar only reports the Days, sometimes they may contradict themselves.)
Martin Luther King Jr. Day falls on the third Monday of January which means that one-in-seven January 16th’s will fall on the same day as Nothing Day, effectively usurping the nature of Nothing Day.

A Japanese man rents himself out to do nothing. Shoji Morimoto, 37, has over 270,000 Twitter followers, appearances on national television, interviews in magazines, and even his own books and manga on Amazon. Shoji has earned an enormous online following and a modest living by renting himself out to the bored, lonely or needy as a companion who does nothing. Under the trade name, “Rental Person Who Does Nothing”, he has received thousands of requests for his services despite a lack of any particular personal or professional skills. For 10,000 yen ($96) plus expenses for travel and meals, he will meet, have a drink and chat a little, but nothing more. Who knew?

Cold water is just as cleansing as hot water. When using modern detergent, clothes will be equally clean whether warm or cold water is used. There is one major difference: warm water uses much more energy (about 75 percent of the energy used for a load of laundry comes from warming the water). Who knew?
