Who Knew???
National Look Alike Day on April 20th celebrates those who look like another person. National Look Alike Day each year April 20th celebrates those who much like look like another person. Similar to the two sentences preceding this one, people who look like each are still unique in their own way.
This day was created as a fun day to look like another person. Growing up, did a teacher constantly call you by another student’s name? Some of us often hear the words, “You remind me of someone,” or “You look just like so and so.” If so, then you are one step ahead of the game.
Professional look-alikes perform as entertainers. Some of the most famous roles they play are Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe. But others look like presidents or actors.

April 20, 1999, the Columbine High School massacre took place in Colorado as two students shot and killed 12 classmates and one teacher before taking their own lives. As a High School teacher at the time, this was scary and I learned to kiss my wife before going to work every day.

Who Knew???April 21st honors National Yellow Bat Day. On this day in 1967, the Army activated the 265th Army Security Agency Company (Airborne) with the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
The official insignia of the 265th is a bat with outstretched wings on a full moon rising with the motto Through the Night below. Symbolically, the bat represents mystery and secrecy due to its nocturnal nature. The bat fittingly describes the intelligence support provided by the Army Security Agency Battalion.
Before deploying, the personnel painted all the military vehicles and equipment with a yellow bat. The symbol made the equipment clearly visible from a distance and aided in identifying all unit equipment.

According to Guinness World Records, the structure was "designed on a number of different software products to ensure its structural integrity." The organizers behind the project enlisted the help of a structural engineer and an architect, who eventually concluded a pyramid shape would give them "the best combination of stability and height." Here's the story Who knew?

Benjamin Franklin was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame. Franklin wasn't only a skilled writer, politician, and scientist — he was also an avid swimmer. He began swimming as a child in Boston, which led to one of his first inventions: oval palettes worn on the hands so he could swim faster. His enthusiasm for the sport continued throughout his life and was so well-documented that he was eventually given an honorary induction into the International Swimming Hall of Fame. Who knew?

Who Knew???
Each year on April 23rd, National Lost Dog Awareness Day increases awareness concerning missing dogs and celebrates reunions.
Through networks of shelters, veterinaries, social media, and other media sources, many lost canines and families reunite. The day is an opportunity to learn more about prevention and networking. There are also steps to take to prevent your family pet from going missing. Some of these preventative steps also help return Fido to you if he does go missing.
Preventative steps to take: Keep your dog secure. Whether on a leash or in a fenced yard, your dog is less likely to wander if it is secured. Training is valuable. Dogs who have been trained by a professional are less likely to go missing. Most importantly, they learn recall commands. Formal obedience training also offers owners valuable information that can lead to a better relationship between pet and owner. Always supervise your animal. Dogs, especially expensive purebreds, can be stolen even from a fenced yard.
