Who Knew???On October 23rd, the Swallows Depart from San Juan Capistrano Day marks the migration of thousands of swallows.
The famous cliff swallows of San Juan Capistrano leave town every year in a swirling mass near the Day of San Juan (October 23). They head for their winter vacation spot 6,000 miles south in Goya, Corrientes, Argentina. Each year, they return on or about March 19th – St. Joseph Day. Who Knew???National Food Day focuses on healthy and nutritious food and takes place annually on October 24th.
One of the themes of the day aims to help people to “Eat Real.” This theme is defined as “cutting back on sugar drinks, overly salted packaged foods and fatty, factory-farmed meats in favor of vegetables, fruits, whole grains and sustainably raised protein.” The observance involves some of the country’s most prominent food activists, too. Their vision includes food that can be healthy, affordable, and produced. At the same time, the goal is to produce food with care for the environment, farm animals, and the people who grow, harvest, and serve it in mind.

The Earth Weighs About 13,170,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 Pounds Earth may be too big to pop on a scale, but, according to NASA and the California Institute of Technology's Cool Cosmos link, scientists have used their knowledge of the laws of gravity and applied that to some fancy-schmancy mathematical equations to figure out that our planet weighs about 13,170,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 pounds. That's a Septillion or a thousand raised to the eighth power. Who knew?

Who Knew???
1955: The first domestic microwave ovens went on sale. Consumer interest in microwave ovens began to grow. About 40,000 units were sold in the United States in 1970. Five years later, that number hit a million.
The addition of electronic controls made microwaves easier to use, and they became a fixture in most kitchens. Roughly 25 percent of U.S. households owned a microwave oven by 1986. As of 2010, over 90 percent of American households owned a microwave oven.
Couldn't find a percentage of American households that own a microwave oven for 2020 or 2021. If anyone can find that, feel free to PM me. Thanks!
