Yeah, it was unfortunate the status quo then was just the way it is, and just because there now is choice, it's a problem.

...I enlarge on my own computer, but when it posts it reverts.... I tried it with FF & IE, and both retained the enlarged size after posting in the sandbox. There is also a way to change the default size in the browser so that it stays at your desired setting from session to session. Back to the problem... Does it still do it? Please go to the sandbox and reply to my testing and see. My post has different sizes in it for easy comparison.

Your monitor and your computer are an important part of the font visibility issue. Your monitor has a resolution measured in pixels... Of course, if you're still using a crt there are no pixels.

Of course, if you're still using a crt there are no pixels. ? ? ? CRTs indeed does have a minimum lighting unit, and it's still called a pixel. They don't have digitally discrete points of light marked on the glass, but that blob of shadow mask holes or holes in the aperture separated by the dot pitch (remember that term when shopping for monitors?) controlled by the computer is still called a pixel ever since monochrome monitors were available.

With new, brand name, 23" flatscreens commonly available at $99 and often $69 on sale, are there still people using CRTs?

and again I write lies in my post, you have to artificially increase the DPI if you're sitting far away from the computer screen not decrease. Unfortunately when increasing font sizes, as witnessed by text wrapping around when it uses too many pixels, this only works to a point and your screen starts looking ratty again. Are you unable to edit your post? There is no need to create a new post to say your typed something wrong. At least I can edit my prior posts. Let me go check something... Yep, I was able to go back and edit my 4/9 post... Why waste $99, or sometimes $69 when what ya got works? CK, nope, I am not going to create something to judge artsy stuff. I am not judging people posts. I just like the idea of being able to use different font face and size, and color, and all those other options. It seems guest is trying to stop that. And, as you say, you are the ruler, and as Barney, you can nip it in the bud! CK, I do have a different question tho. There is a Miscellaneous Board, and there is also a Games & Trivia Board & Group board. Why are there topics in the Misc board that look like games to me? Example " 6 6 " or "65" 45 pages of the number 65 being posted. Is that not a game? Thank you.

Guests can't edit posts, so you get unfettered straight truths instead of edited lies...

Edited lies is the basis of all truth. -- Homer Simpson CK, nope, I am not going to create something to judge artsy stuff. Oh, pooh! And I thought it would be a great new activity for the forum. It would make you famous. Your loss. ...45 pages of the number 65 being posted. Is that not a game? No, it's not. It does not even rise to the level of the skill required to string things together as in Sequential Games. Basically it's just a test of one's monitor and two keys. It is miscellaneous incarnate. Ok, I admit there is a fine line here, but years of splitting hairs and picking nits has prepared me well. (I even once picked double-knits, but that was back in the '70s.) ---- For all youse waiting with baited breath on the results of sandbox testing of recently-adjusted sizes reverting to browser default upon posting, I couldn't duplicate it with FF and IE. Even Tru reports it doesn't really happen. So it is not an issue; the world is saved.

I don't know why nitpicking is such a problem, I would expect people would want to get rid of every last nit ?

Double-knits, double breasted... Ok, thanks for the explanation. Your board, your lines. I saw you had moved some things, and just thought these might have been on your list, after I asked.
(Hopefully my italics are not too bothersome. Used them to distinguish your reply to my reply.)

Indeed, that is what I said when I bought my home and found an old "hello central" style crank phone in the basement. Why spend $12 on a modern phone at Walmart when the old one works just fine.
I also saw no point in replacing the toilet with a "hang on the wall" style tank. It works, no reason to upgrade. I am going to upgrade the old coal burning steam boiler though. Thank God someone converted it to oil 50 years ago. Then again, it does work at heating the house.....

How do you dial? Was it a common batt phone, or did it have a batt in it? If the latter, I don't know how it would work.
Please go over to Building and Construction Board and tell us about your "This Old House" type stories.

When you guys quote, you can delete any part of the quoted post that you are not responding to; quoting a complete post can be quite bothersome, especially if the author spoke on several subjects or spoke at great length, We already read it once, so we don't need to read it again. And if you are replying to the previous post, we really don't need to read it again.
