I went to Comcast's user support forum to see if the problem I've encountered in the Xfinity Stream beta for ROKU had been reported. One poster asked how he could cancel his account. A Comcast employee came in and accused him of trolling. No wonder Comcast rates very low for customer support. I wonder what Comcast's CEO would have to say about that. If I made a comment like that to a customer when I worked, I would have certainly been a FORMER employee!
PS: I've been with AT&T. They're even worse, if that was possible! They keep making me offers to come back. They rapidly go in the paper shredder because they can't fix AT&T's inherent deficiencies in their service.

Two years ago I paid someone to be at one of my seasonal rentals so Frontier could deliver and set up my DSL modem. I generally self install, howvever Frontier didn't offer this service.
The first 3 techs were no show/no calls. The next 2 techs left notes that they were sorry they missed me, however both showed up on the wrong day and wrong time.
Both left cell phone mumbers, however they never answered their phones and their voicemail wasn't working.
About 2 weeks later a Frontier tech was having lunch at my store, so I asked them to swing by and set up my modem.
The tech and tech support were having problems, so I later played around with the Actiontech modem settings and got my service working.

Frontier, mostly, consists of the rejected parts of other telecom companies.
I knew the situation in the house, so I paid Comcast to do an install. Probably got my money's worth. Among other things, the house had never had Comcast (the last owners had U-Verse and there was an existing satellite dish on the house when I got it). Comcast had to run coax cable to my house from the neighbor's. Also, they had to drill a new hole in the side of the house.
We had an ice storm the week of MLK Day. Kid got a five-day school vacation. Our installation was delayed because of the weather but we did have AT&T Internet (much slower than Comcast's) while we waited. I also have integrated mobile broadband on my ThinkPad, so it's hard to get me off of the computer.

how do get rid of pop up advertisements all the time on my computer which is really annoying? Adblock Plus works great. Also, the Brave and Opera Web browsers (which I have mostly used for testing my Web site to see if there was any difference in how it rendered in different browsers) have ad-blocking capabilities built-in.
That said, part of my Web site disappeared under Opera's built-in ad blocker.
Some sites do detect that ad-blocking technology is being used and display a "guiltware" message. ("Please don't block our ads, you're taking food out of our kids' mouths...")
That Other Site has really obnoxious ads. But it does not have a check that ad-blocking technology is being used.

This FreeForums platform also has an occasional guiltware overlay. I've seen it a couple of times. I klik it off and proceed unmolested.
I just discovered the Brave browser. I like how it tabulates the number of ads and trackers it has blocked on the front page. Kind of shocking to see 100s of trackers blocked. Plus it combines privacy and ad blocking.
Been using Opera on the phone for maybe 15 years now. It tabulates how much data has been saved by blocking ads. Again, pretty shocking to see that most of the data consumed on a phone is ads.
I tried putting Brave on the phone but for some reason, it brings up a Sprint logon page. Not sure if Sprint is banning this app. I temporarily forgot my Sprint logon so until I reset the logon, I can't test out Blaze on the phone.

I live in the boonies of Northwest Michigan, beautiful place to live. We have one cell tower in the county. If it ain’t a Verizon phone, good luck. Our area is serviced by a little phone company called Kaltel. We have our internet thru them, $53 for 4 mg a month, comes thru a phone line, barely faster than dial up, goes out when it rains, when the sun shines. Granddaughter goes on you tube, the rest of us sllooowww down. Tried satellite, we’re not rich, that’s out, okay for tv service. We tried antenna, great reception for Wisconsin stations. Sadly, we have fiber optic line running out by the road, only folks hooked to it are emergency services. Ten miles away people on main state road have Charter, yes, for that I envy them...

Before Time warner became Spectrum I was able to negotiate lower prices without cutting, or terminating services.
With Spectrum I have to terminate services to get better deals.
After terminating 3 Spectrum accounts, they offered the same deals they give all new customers.
I dropped television programming and ended up getting a broadband only deal @ around $50 per month for 100Mbps.
I stream most media, so I've saved a small fortune eliminating television packages.

Speaking of satellite broadband, one of my new tenants asked for permission to install a satellite broadband dish on my rental property.
Apparently they didn't realize that they could get 25Mbps DSL with no data caps for around $40 per month.
They were quire relieved since their kids are heavy users.
Some online utilities that show broadband and/or cellular coverage areas have been broken for years...

I use AdBlock Plus and Ghostery, and both tell you how many they've blocked. But I ignore it and just let them do their ob.

I generally don't receive guiltware messages when using either NoScript, or Brave's built in script blocker.

Comcast has updated the Xfinity Stream for ROKU client. It now switches from channel to channel just fine. It was glitching out when you change channels, but it worked great once you got there.
It's still somewhat annoying that they bundle News and Sports into one optional package. Except I wanted to see the Houston Astros opener in Minute Maid Park. None of the local stations had it, but ESPN did.

Hell must have frozen over. Scheduled 2 Spectrum 940 Mbps broadband installations and 3 Frontier 25 Mbps installations.
All techs showed up on the day and time scheduled and there were no issues with equipment, nor performance.
Had to cancel 2 of my Spectrum accounts to get the deals they offer new customers.
Back in the day being a long term customer with multiple accounts used to give you some leverage.
Seems history, loyalty and volume don't mean much to some businesses these days...
