Went to the Jewish market in the next neighborhood. They have a better line of groceries. I bought 2 ears of the Florida corn just coming in. Some tomatoes from a hippie greenhouse in Maine. A 2lb box of frozen sticky rice. (as good as you get in the Thai restaurants). A chocolate bar from Spain. And of course, what is a Jewish market without bagels? I bought varies flavors, including a newly discovered one - French toast. I bought 1 pint of that new 280 HI Top brand ice cream, the one high in protein, low calories, high fiber, low sodium, and low carbs. (It is excellent, imagine ice cream as a health food?) Oh yeah, a store baked loaf of pecan walnut bread. I don't usually get this as it is ridiculously expensive. But it was a sale item.

Went to a brick and mortar Kroger store and bought the Sodastream flavoring concentrates I couldn’t find at Walmart yesterday. Kroger also had the half-liter bottles that Walmart didn’t have but I figure I can drink a liter bottle of whatever I make. Bought a total of ten bottles.

Paid for a collision repair (deductible after insurance) on my Ford Escape at the local Lexus dealer (recommended by insurance, they have an adjuster on-site). Passenger's side headlight and fog light, remove and un-dent passenger's side front fender, repaint it, and put it back on.

Ordered a pair of Teva Original Universal sport sandals ($50 plus Texas sales tax of 8.25%) from zappos.com this afternoon. Nearly every merchant has a physical presence somewhere in Texas.

A SoClean 2 CPAP sanitizing machine. Designed to kill 99.9% of microbial grunge. Of course, Murphy's Law says the remaining 0.1% is what will get you sick. Got an offer for it from my Durable Medical Equipment provider. Ordered it from soclean.com online.

Started out wanting to buy a pair of custom-made suede Converse Chuck Taylor All Star hightops (to get some other than in basic black, which I'm wearing right now). Unfortunately, when you go to the converse.com Website to order, you can also look at what their corporate parent Nike has to offer.
Ended out ordering two pairs of custom-made suede Nike Blazer hightops (one blue with a white SWOOSH, the other red with a white SWOOSH). They were $105 each (plus 8.25% Texas sales tax, everyone seems to have a physical presence in Texas and therefore they're required to collect sales taxes). I can remember when Nike Blazer hightops were $30 a pair but that was about four decades ago. Bought them with PayPal, don't have to pay for them for six months. During which time the money can sit in the bank drawing 1.65% APY.
Interestingly enough, the Nikes were $15 less than the Chucks.
I'm not ruling out getting a pair or two of Chucks later on (as if I need another pair of Chucks). One time post-Harvey, I went out to the nike.com Website and wandered over to the Chucks, of which I bought three pairs along with no pairs of Nikes. None of the Chucks were like the other ones I have, of course!

When I was out buying the red and blue Nike Blazer hightops, I noted they also had them in University Gold. Perfect color for someone who is an alumnus of the University of Missouri-Columbia (from back in the day when the campus wasn't full of social justice warriors and snowflakes like it's been for the past few years). University Gold body, black SWOOSH, white heel tab. Of course, when I went there the basketball team wore Chucks; no newfangled Nikes, nosiree!
Of course, I just couldn't stay away from nike.com and sending in another order!

Went through amazon.com and found a pair of hightop camouflage Chucks at a very reasonable price. I bought the last pair unless somebody beat me to it!

Put 12.669 gallons of regular gasoline in the Escape this afternoon. That was enough to take it from "low fuel light on" to top-off. I bought the gas at Friendswood Shell at FM-2351 at Beamer in Friendswood, TX. The sign price was $2.51/gallon, but I got an additional $0.05/gallon off with Fuel Rewards. I got an additional 1.5% rebate with my Charles Schwab Investor Card (a co-branded American Express card). I could have gotten more with some of my other credit cards, but I wanted the rebate to go into my brokerage account.

Bought two pairs of Nike Vandal Hi Supreme sneakers. One red/white/black and the other blue/white/gray. Had ones like them pre-Harvey, but after three days soaking in polluted flood waters they were all nasty and had to be thrown out. These are shiny nylon, the ones I bought June 17th are suede.
Was enough that I could use PayPal and hold off paying for six months.

Bought some 10ft pine boards to patch a rotten spot in my garage roof. My antique house was built before they invented plywood, so I am keeping it original. Plus boards are easier to haul, and carry up a ladder, especially when you work alone. I carried them tied to the ski racks of my sports sedan.
