It appears that you can add three 1MB attachments per post.
This has to go somewhere, what happens if it "fills up" ... or is it even possible to fill up? 1MB might not seem like a lot (well, it seems like a lot to me still, I can't memorize 1 million 8-bit numbers!) but if the forum has a limit of 10GB, this is only 10,000 pictures total - among all registered users. It seems fairly large but maybe not. Granted, if you make pictures reasonable sized, 10GB will go a long way.
It does not appear to quota by user, rather quota by forum? How much is too much? Who cleans up this type of kitty litter?
So far it looks like nobody is taking advantage of this feature, at least it doesn't seem like it.
Welcome Guest. By registering, you can avail yourself of additional forum features, such as using a custom avatar, editing and deleting your own posts, sending Private Messages, and many others. We hope you will take advantage of this no-cost option.

Several members have posted by attachment. If a member has been using hosting site that allows linking from outside, I suppose that they will continue to do so, especially as it allows bigger pix in a post without reader action. Personally, as the Photobucket site that I was using decided to block outside links (unless you pay $400/yr), I have always attached in this forum. However, for photos that could potentially appear at other sites, I am investigating some recommendations for a substitute service.
No matter how you frame your questions, I don't know what the limits are. Because a Mb nowadays is nothing to the big boys, I am not worried about it.

It looks better if in the attachment dialog box you click to insert the attachment and then to the immediate right of the resulting img src tag you place the instruction. If you don't insert, then it defaults to showing the attachment following the text and thus the instruction shows ahead of the photo, which may be confusing to the reader.

Yes it would look better indeed.
I just wish I can figure out how to do that, alas the automation tool seems to be inconsistent on selecting the text box to write the captions in.

Do what exactly? Tell the steps you took and what you saw, and I'll try to help.

Actually don't worry about it. Remember I'm a computer. I was using this code a few moments after calling the click() method on the "Done" button in the attachment box: driver.find_element_by_xpath("//form/div/div/div/div/iframe").send_keys("[attachment id=\""+attachid+"\" thumbnail=\"1\"]\nThis is the caption.\n") I found the correct attachid for the attachment just before this, but the problem is that send_keys() method does not dump the caption into the frame which as far as I know is the typing frame. Perhaps it's the wrong frame. In any case send_keys() executes but no text is generated. Clear as mud right? I suppose this won't make any sense... Yes this is software to create bbcode --- Okay I figured it out or some sort of workaround ... somehow it eats a line of text so I had to add an extra \n --- or something caused it to start working. Well, time to expect more pictures with a hint and caption underneath!

Regarding the placing of comment vs. photo: If I am on the same page with you, once I get to the place of inserting the pic, I stop and go to the line on which I want the pic to appear. (That is completely controllable by using the "enter" key before or after the comment.) Once your pic appears in the message box, you can use spacebar (or "tab" key) to move it away from the left edge as much as you want to. (If you are mostly talking about words upon pics, I haven't gotten there yet.) This is a great site; even the ability to use pics with comments is GREAT!! Thanks for the possibilities!
