Getting my 18 yrs old Concrete Tile Roof replaced in a couple o' weeks.....The tiles in this day and age get attached to the plywood with a special foam and the tiles get set within a couple of hrs and the tiles will not fly lose at all not even with 150 mph winds !!!
Getting Ready for the Summer Tropical Weather in Miami ( $17,000 poorer after it gets done, but a great selling point on the house too)

I also learned something new, the old tiles where secured to the wood planks with concrete, literally 100's of lbs of that heavy concottion all over the roof, the Roof resting Pillars, and ultimately the Walls.
Now the only weight is just the Tiles...Nothing else. The New Tiles are in bunches of 5's up on the roof waiting for the installers Crew and that shoud happen withn 2 to 3 weeks.
It has rained, but since the roof is sealed no problems have arisen.

And today across my home the other home that's getting also a new roof, got about 3% of those tiles installed, that is for the County Inspector to come by and OK that last part of the Job...My tiles should be in place, weather permitting no later than the 8th of March.
I spoke to one of the workers, who will be also here in due time, and he told me that the Foam Sealer does not set in 2 hrs, instead that is a done deal in just 5 minutes !!! Amazinn

It has rained, but since the roof is sealed no problems have arisen. That added weight helped keep your roof secured to your house as wind speeds increased... That is why you see ballast added to the roofs of large industrial buildings, like rocks. Not saying that your roof isn't improved, just wondering how your new installation affected that variable.

That could be a point, but after Andrew, Miami-Dade County roof standards were totally changed and upgraded to where roofs now ALL are so secured to the concrete buildings where they lay that it may take a Cat 5 for some of them fly away.
Sept 2017 After Irma swipped us, really not in full force I spoke to may people in my subdivision with the newer standards and not one lost a tile in their roofs.
Only time will tell. We are now visiting our daughters in Winter Springs, Fl and heading back to Miami Monday AM, the installers will be finishing the home between Tuesday and Wednesday.
Later.
