Yankees 6 Astros 5
Great game today. These two team are very evenly matched, and never give up. Go ahead run on a single by Gleyber Torres. So it's back home to face the Indians tomorrow night.

Indians 6 Yankees 7
The "Baby Bombers" have a lot of fight! After losing the lead in the late innings, Miguel Andujar had a walk-off single in the ninth. Home runs by Judge, Sanchez, and the first for Gleyber Torres. 6 shutout innings for CC Sabathia (a Geezer Bomber). 13 wins in the last 14 games.

The Yankees have pulled within 1 game of the Red Sox for the lead in the AL East.

Indians 2 Yankees 5
An interesting afternoon game as Yankees make it 14 out of 15. Yankees's scored 4 runs in the fifth on 3 walks, a hit, and two errors by Lindor. Go figure! Sonny Gray actually looked good today.
Couldn't watch the game because I live in Cleveland's blackout zone, so listened to the radio broadcast instead.

Indians 4 Yankees 7
What a game! First 7 innings featured no-hitters by both Mike Clevinger and Yanks rookie, Domingo German. German's first start, pitching for Jordan Montgomery (DL List) Cleveland scored 4 in the 8th. Yankees answered with 3. Glebor Torres (another Yankee rookie) hit a 3 run walk-off in the bottom of the ninth. That's 15 out of 16.

Off day today, but the Yankees will be welcoming (sort of) the Red Sox to town for a 3-game series starting tomorrow. Yankee starters will be Severino, Tanaka, and Sabathia.
Sabathia, in an interview over the weekend, said he will retire this year, if the Yankees win the World Series, and would have retired last year if the Yankees had won. October is a long way from May!!

Red Sox 2 Yankees 3
It's only May, but every game between the Red Sox and Yankees is special. Good pitching for Severino, two HRs for Stanton, and a go ahead single rbi for Judge. It's also fun to watch Mookie Betts. He's a special player indeed. So now the Yankees are all the way back from their embarrassing start, and both teams have the same record. Tonight it's Porcella and Tanaka.

Red Sox 6 Yankees 9
Typical Yankee/Red Sox "October" game, and another late inning rally for NY. 4 runs in the 8th with Gardner and Judge doing the heavy hitting. Nice to see Neil Walker contributing, after a terrible start. Tanaka looked uncomfortable, and Green couldn't hold the lead, but when you're on a hot streak (17 out of 18) you find a way. Years ago the philosophy seemed to be to play .500 on the road, and then clean up at home. Joe Torre would chunk the season into 5 game units above .500. When you're 5 games over .500, aim for 10 games, etc. Now it's all about winning every series, which makes a lot of sense.
From MLB.com: Each of the Yankees' last eight games (since May 1) have come against teams in sole possession or tied for first place at the start of play, with the Yanks going 8-0 in those games.

Red Sox 5 Yankees 4
Yankees and Sox are again tied with the best records in baseball, and that seems fitting. CC Sabathia didn't return after an hour rain delay (neither did I). He was struggling with his pitches, and I was struggling to keep my eyes open.
JD Martinez hit the go-ahead home run in the 8th. The video brought back memories of Derek Jeter's home run (with a little help from Jeffrey Maier) in the 1996 AL championship series, but Martinez's shot was clearly over the wall. Did the fan prevent Judge from reaching the ball & making the catch? We'll never know, and it doesn't really matter.

A's 10 Yankees 5
Last year's trade with Oakland (Sonny Gray for James Kaprielian, Jorge Mateo, and Dustin Fowler) was highlighted in tonight's game.
Sonny Gray was terrible - again.
On the bright side, Dustin Fowler, who had a gruesome knee injury in his first game with the Yanks last year, came back to Yankee Stadium with the A's, and had his first major league hit last night. That was really great to see.

Oakland 6 Yankees 7
A nice come-from behind win for the Yankees, with a 2-out single by Neil Walker in the 11th.
He doesn't get much attention with all the big bats in the lineup, and started slowly, but he's steadily improving, and is earning his pinstripes.
Home runs by Sanchez, Hicks, and Judge.

Yankees 3 Nationals 3
To be continued (Rain) today, before this evening's regularly scheduled game.
Tyler Austin provided the offense last night, in tying the game, just in time before the rains fell.
Giancarlo Stanton had his career 1,000th hit.
Never much cared for inter-league play. Seems like a distraction, but it makes fans happy. Good discussion on the YES Network about the NL advantage, withAL pitchers, who have never batted, having to look silly (i.e. Tanaka last night) in the batters' box. Does anyone think it's time for a change? It's been 45 years!
