I can see the option to post an image, but I'm asked for a URL when I try to use it. Am I to assume that I must "house" my images somewhere out of GBO and link to them, or does GBO have a repositiry where images can be stored? A prime example is the old process for posting images in the "other" forums.
Thanks in advance, Niaw

I did a tutorial on this for another forum here. I'll have to update it and post it in this forum next week. Be careful not to use any hosting sites that won't allow calls from outside or, if they do, won't change the rules like Photobucket did.

Thanks in advance, Niaw You can actually post an image from your computer by using the Attachments button. For example, I have attached a picture of my dog Lilly on the bottom of the page. If you want the picture to be inline with your text using the Insert Image button, it will have to be hosted somewhere.

CampKohler and coffeenole - thanks for your feedback and I'm sorry for not getting back sooner! Attachments are definitely the way to go and I am using them.
CampKohler- nice write-up on Inserting Images!

CampKohler- nice write-up on Inserting Images! I'm happy to help. I actually have an image hosting site that I've had for years, www.forumfamily.net/imagehost/. It's free and safe, and I've used it on The Coffee Shop since 2009.

Does that site allow you to link from other places (like this one), and more importantly, will they continue to do so? I used Photobucket for years, but now they want $400/year!

I've had this site from 2009, been very happy with it, and it is very easy to use. Also, I just want to let you know as well that I really appreciate the effort that you are putting into this site, and if there is anything that I can do to help you in any way, I'm more than happy to do so!

Will there be a way to be able to upload photos more than 1MB in size in the future?

Size = money, so I doubt it. 1Mb is good enough for viewing on a PC. If you want readers to download bigger pix, store pix on a hosting site and use the picture frame icon to link to it, as we were discussing above.
Do you need bigger files or are you having trouble reducing them down to 1Mb?

jcs72 - I'm traveling now and only have my taBlet to post replies on, so i can't be very word for a while.
Depending on what platform you're on, an image editor can reduce file size of your image. Perhaps you can let us know what you're posting with (Mac, pc, tablet, iPad) and then we can go from there. I don't know how to reduce an image on my tablet, but I'm pretty handy on my laptop pc.

SIZE: If this site won't accept a photo because of size, I go back to my computer where I store my photos, open Microsoft Ofc. Picture Manager, click on Picture, and change size. SIMPLE!

hwy60: Can you type up a step-by-step instruction on how to do that with Picture Manager and post it? I'll do the same with Paint and then do an article with both methods in it. Then jcs72 and others will have a reference. I open the file with MS Paint and downsize it, crop it, etc. if necessary. Cropping reduces the image size without reducing the resolution of the remaining part. If you can't get it down to 1Mb, how are you going to fit it on a floppy?

jcs72 - using your Photo Gallery, look for image/resize or something like that. Try to resize with width of 800 (let automatic height be assumed) then "save for web" if an option like that exists. Give the file a new name and the result should be considerably smaller. If you can find the save for web option, you might not even have to play around with the resize option.
Check it out and get back. I'll be able to help you more when I get back on next week.
