The rash and itch are mostly gone but still lingering. My new primary care physician saw me Thursday and said if I needed another prednisone dose pack to let him know. Will decide Monday morning if I need it or not. In the past, when I have had poison ivy, it was so bad that my old doctor gave me a shot in the office and the dose pack.
Sounds like you are turning the corner from your brief slump. Hope your outing today went well. I am sure you will be back in form quickly.
Talked to the SHRM person yesterday and they do not pay much. Three things that have me leaning towards accepting are that the meeting is online during a lunch hour, 150 - 200 HR management types will be in the audience, which could lead to higher paying engagements, and since I already have the presentation ready to go, prep will be easy.
Basically doing nothing this weekend. The past week has been extremely hectic so I am mostly goofing off.
Happy Saturday!!!

Hopefully, by now, the rash is a lot better and you didn't have to start the 2nd course. I took that stuff once years ago and it made me incredibly hungry all the time.
Good thought about that gig. Not very taxing and, though not directly lucrative, it's got some potential to generate quite a bit of business.
Sounds like a great weekend!
Golf today was really disappointing. Bottom line, the slump continues. Just have to keep swinging until it turns around.
Hope the week is going well!

Good attitude about your slump. Just keep plugging away. Your swing will return soon.
The rash is almost completely gone and the itching is very minor. Still trending the right way. I hate taking meds so I did not call the doc Monday to get another round of prednisone. I even avoid Tylenol and Ibuprofen. I can count with my fingers on both hands how many of the two combined I took last year. Haven't taken any this year. The body is an amazing thing and will heal quite a few things without meds. If I do need them though, I take them.
I think my house was built on an ant hill so as a preventive measure, yesterday I walked around the house looking for ant activity. Wanted to be proactive and attack them outside rather than wait until they come into the house. Found activity in the normal places and treated them. I use a product called Advion Ant Gel It is the best product I have found out there. A little pricey, but far better than the garbage they sell in the stores. Did another walk through tonight and there were only a few stragglers left so I fed them again.
School is winding down. Did my presentation this past Monday with half the class and the other folks in Advanced Photography did their today. We are a combined class with the people in Photo III too and even though I am finished and am not required to attend, I will go to class Monday to see their final photo sets. You can always learn from other people's work. No class this summer. In the fall I am taking Digital Photography II. The good news is that class is only one day a week. Advanced Photo was twice a week.
Happy Wednesday!!!

I'm pretty much a medical minimalist, too. Not a huge fan of formal medicine but, as you seem to indicate, sometimes it's necessary.
Good job getting ahead of the ants. Nip 'em in the bud before there are too many colonies that it becomes a huge task. I do have an exterminator service that handles that.
One class a week would drive me nuts. I truly can't imagine two. But congrats on finishing this one!
Went to the dentist today so no golf even though it was a great day. The cleaning session was about the fastest I've had in forever but, unfortunately, something showed up on an x-ray that has me heading back later in the month. The problem tooth is next to one that already had a root canal but Doc is hopeful this one can be handled short of that. Not an experience I care to repeat.
I did go to TG today and, after struggling a bit early, started hitting it fairly well. Probably won't play a full 18 before 2sday but I'll try to play 9 a couple of times.
Have a great weekend!

Hopefully the trip to TG is just what you needed.
Sorry to hear about the dental issues. Hopefully you get by with the least serious/painful option. I would never want to be a dentist. They have to be one of the most disliked professions.
Nice dinner with our monthly speaker for the National Speaker's Association meeting tomorrow. It was at a chain, Maggiano's, but the food was good and the service excellent. Even better, even though there were 11 of us, we were in and out in 1.5 hours. Sometimes those dinners drag on forever.
I normally enjoy the classes, but this semester, my heart wasn't in it. Things should be getting better in the next few months. There is a light at the end of the tunnel.
The next several days are jam packed. NSA meeting tomorrow from 9 - 1. Saturday I am one of the two instructors at the NSA Speaker's Academy. My topic is AI. After that I am heading to my son's house to babysit the grandkids. Sunday, I get a well deserved break and am heading to the wineries with friends.
Happy Thursday!!!

I like my dentist a lot -- great guy, good golfer! -- just prefer seeing him somewhere other than in his office!
Sounds like you can forsee a time without your current houseguests! Glad there's some progress!
Quite a schedule you've got thru today.
I had a family activity this am, then went to lunch. Great burger but so-so Bloody Mary. So I went home and made a proper one. Need to stay awake thru post time and the end of the Derby.
Yesterday, with tstorms and showers expected late am, I busted out to the 9 hole course. One group had teed off when I got there and nobody else showed up for over a half hour. So I was able to play 2 balls on every hole. I shot an 80, including an 8 on one of the balls on the 5th -- somehow I came over the top and pushed my drive right into a pond. Also 3 putted that ball, hence the snowman. Without those two mistakes (the rest of the round was solid -- no miracle shots), it would have been a 77, which would be my course record there for 18. Maybe I've turned a corner?
Hope things are going well with the gks! Have fun at the wineries!

Sounds like the Kentucky Derby was really exciting! Not too often the races are that close. I am sure you enjoyed it, unless your horse lost.
Nice to hear that you got in a really good round. Keep it going!!!
If you ever make it this way, they have an excellent Bloody Mary at DRV. I can get that as a free pour for myself and a guest. They also have an excellent steak sandwich. You have an open invitation.
My AI presentation for the Speaker's Academy went really well and babysitting the grandchildren was enjoyable afterwards. It also kept me away from my houseguests all day, which is an added bonus. A little tired though so I will probably turn in early.
Looking forward to the wineries tomorrow.
Happy Saturday!!!

Definitely about the best Derby I can remember.
Appreciate the invite. No current plans to head that way but you never know . . . .
Sounds like a great weekend!
Had another disappointing golf round today. I was 5 over bogey. 12 of those 23 strokes came on 5 holes -- 2 triples and 3 doubles. The triples included penalty strokes from water hazards on consecutive holes but, instead of recovering from the bad stroke, I hit another bad shot long both times. I didn't make a lot of putts but I didn't have many great chances. I did miss a Joe Peschi -- a nasty 5 footer! -- for par. Also had 2 Meg Ryans -- they looked really good for a while.
But it wasn't all bad. I had some strong shots that give me a lot of confidence that things will turn around really soon. Huge match in 2 weeks. Well, huge for me -- not sure the other team will feel that way.
After golf, with a tstorm bearing down, I dashed out and trimmed some plantings. My window is closing as I have a crew coming later in the week to refresh the beds and really don't want to have to deal with the clean up after that happens.
Have a great week!

It's an open invitation if you ever find yourself out this way.
Hope you get all the yard work completed.
It's good to get the rough rounds out early in the season. Just keep plugging away and try to keep it out of your head.
We had a series of storms this morning as well. The tornado sirens went off right as I was getting up to go to Hotworx and it was pouring rain with thunder and lightening. Of course, I still went to HW. Glad I did. All the regulars were there. Would have never heard the end of it if I let a few storms serve as an excuse.
Had breakfast with my daughter Monday. She was having her windshield replaced so I picked her up at the glass company. By the time we got back from breakfast, the repairs were finished.
Nothing on the calendar Wednesday now that school is out. It feels strange. Not complaining though.
Happy Tuesday!!!

Appreciate it. Could happen eventually!
There are tons of excuses to miss workouts. Good that you avoided that one, which would have been very easy. Once you miss, the next miss is easier.
Great to have a little downtime!
IKWYM but yard work will not truly end until the snow flies in November. Not wishing for that. There is more of it in the spring when everything's growing like crazy. The guys that do the beds were here today, so that's done. I used to do that, too, but I need to save my back for golf!
I did make it to TG both yesterday and today. Just need to get in more reps and grind out this slump. Playing a course I really like tomorrow. We'll see! My playing partner is an engineer who's studied golf extensively. When he connects, he hits it a mile! Always a good time!
Have an awesome weekend!

Hope the golf outing goes well tomorrow and that you find your swing again. I am sure things will turn around soon.
I think I told you before, but I am forbidden from doing yard work. Whenever I cut the grass I break out in hives, and if I get anywhere near poison ivy or anything like it, my entire body reacts and it takes both a shot and dose pack of steroids to cure me. My wife does a fair mount in the flower beds, but with the deer the way they are here, they eat our plants faster than we can grow them.
Interviewed two candidates to replace our NSA Chapter's admin. Both were excellent. One more interview on Wednesday and then we will make a decision so our current admin has the entire month of June to transition. All of the candidates were referred to me by other members of NSA and two of them already serve as an admin for multiple NSA chapters.
Had breakfast with a friend this morning that I had not seen in a while. It was good to catch up.
Happy Thursday!!!

If I had those afflictions, I might not go outside. Fortunately, my spring allergy is fairly manageable, typically starting about now, peaking Memorial Day weekend and gone by July.
I have a tip to deal with the deer issue. My bil shared it with me and it seems to work. You simply sprinkle shredded Irish Spring bar soap into the affected beds. I took the old box cheese grater that is no longer in useand shredded the soap into the beds.
3 weeks ago the perennials they like popped up and I saw they'd been chewed when I mowed. Went out and applied the soap and now they're about 10 inches high. No more chewing. Since the guys did that bed the other day, I need to get back out and reapply the soap and then do it monthly or so from there.
Hopefully whoever you choose for the admin job works out. That must be a paid position?
My golf game continues to have hiccups. Just don't know who's going to show up on any particular hole. The good guy is pretty good but the other guy? Not so much. I did shoot 90 on a course that I would have shot 100 on two years ago. Had a good putting session this morning. I know I'm getting close to breaking thru.
Heading out soon for a family activity. Taking the camera. Struggling to find the right settings. I want to shoot burst mode but not have a wide dispersion of focus points. We'll see how it goes.
Have a great weekend!

Good perspective, where you were 10 strokes better than you would have been 2 years ago. You have still improved tremendously. Your consistency will return.
Hope your family event went well and that you got some good pictures. Let me know the make and model of your camera so I can give you some suggested settings for next time.
Thanks for the tip. Tried it a while back with limited success. It seemed to help with plants closer to the ground, but the day lilies are about 4 feet tall and the deer still eat them, even with the Irish Spring. Maybe the solution is plant things that stay closer to the ground. The other factor is that our deer population is huge and there is a fight every time the municipalities want to have a controlled hunt. With so many deer and so little food, they are eating things they never used to eat. It is not uncommon for my ring cameras to pick up 4 or more deer in my yard travelling .
Yes, it is a paid position. It only requires about 5 hours a week which is why we can share someone with another chapter.
Funny story. I was heading home from Hotworx at 6 this morning and in the shopping center next to it is a donut shop. There was a line of 15 - 20 people going out the door, all men. I guess that is their idea of making a Mother's Day breakfast.
Made it to my mom's this morning to watch mass with her on her computer. Cooking dinner for the wife and her parents in a few minutes.
Happy Sunday!!!

I've got some bushes that are getting taller. Will have to see if they stay away. The other bed's plants are low to the ground. Wonder if a wider berth would help with the taller plants -- i.e., the deer would have to cross a larger swath?
5 hours a week is a tough job to hire for, I'd think. Such a small fraction of their time. But I suppose it's manageable. Better than the board splitting up the responsibilities with committees!
Those weren't cops, right? Not sure that's a great Mothers' Day thing. Seems more likely for Fathers' Day?
The golf adventures continue. I was a stroke better today than last week. Still made a 7, unfortunately getting into a bunker with a long way to the hole and picked the ball cleanly instead of sliding the wedge beneath the ball. Of course, that does not explain the 3 putt from under 15 feet . . . . The "sand" at this course is very poor -- on that shot, I might have been better off playing it like it was in wet grass and hitting the ball intentionally. I'm still seeing lots of good stuff, too, that has me thinking I'm close to having my score improve.
The rain in your area that you've noted elsewhere has made it's way here. Hopefully it checks out tomorrow am.
Have a great week!

Hope it works for you. We pretty much gave up. I even planted a garden several years ago and they ate everything except for my jalapeƱos.
It hasn't been tough at all. We had our final interview this morning and all three candidates were exceptional. Of course, this was not an open posting. I asked for referrals from several trusted people and they came through. We discussed the candidates for almost 45 minutes before selecting our choice. We will bring that to the Board next Thursday, which should just be a rubber stamp.
I don't know what you did to annoy the golf Gods, but I am sure they will move on to someone else soon. Glad to hear you feel there is light at the end of the tunnel. It starts with believing in yourself.
No rain today so you should be good tomorrow.
Been doing a lot of spring cleaning. It is hard to see the progress but I have thrown out a lot of stuff and am much more organized in my office area.
Pretty light day tomorrow so I will get some more cleaning done.
Happy Wednesday!!!
