Your lawnmower can be raised way higher than mine. This Old House said to cut the grass high so weed seeds don't get to touch the ground and sprout. Did go to the store and buy lots of food for a week. Temp is cooler for a few days. Like to miss the heat.

The high setting helps control weeds as well as shade the soil to preserve moisture.
Today was trimming day. I picked up a new electric trimmer that did a great job. Don't miss the noise from the gas trimmer but this thing's pretty powerful and the battery is supposed to go for an hour. I didn't test that -- 45 minutes was more than enough and there was down time going from spot to spot.

Have a nice quiet electric trimmer. Along the way a 2nd battery was bought in case it was needed to finish up the show. It has been used many times w/o delay to get the job done at one time. Nice feeling when the work is completed.

Unless this battery's operating time were to start shrink a lot, my back will run out before I'm out of juice!
Played 18 this morning on a hilly, spread out course. Took a cart, walked 2 miles.

Been a tough year on my back. Seems anything that is done ruins my back for days. Carrying a pan of water gets my back in pain. Rained heavily Sunday w/strong t-storms. Remained inside to be safe and take it ez.

Once the back gets injured, it can take a long time and every little thing seems to aggravate it. Braces, heat, whatever, it just takes forever to get any better and then something tiny knocks it out again. That was me for most of a year a while ago. If it hints that it's getting upset with something I'm doing, I shut it down.
Played 18 this morning. It was a scramble and a lot of fun. Not much walking with the carts and the heat though.

Woke up at 14 y/o, sat up, and felt some- thing in my lower back slide over, then excruciating back pain, and I hunched over like an upside down L. My dad drove me to the hospital where the staff put me on a sheet of plywood 24/7 for 10 days. Had a harness on my chin and a weight over the top of the bed. God.

I'm guessing it's been bothering you on and off ever since? Also guessing that's not how they'd treat it today.
Walked 9 holes this morning before it got hot and windy. 2.5 miles.

Yes, my back hurts often & for days at a time. No amount of exercises cures it. Two chiro's were the only ones to fix it right. Both are gone. Only sitting w/lumbar support or lying down ease the pain. A lifelong issue.

Sounds excruciating. Lots of nerves back there and if they get irritated, it's bad.
Played 18 today on a very hilly course. Would not want to walk this one.

Had so much rain a week ago my area had standing water. The heat of each day dried the puddles of water. Here we have clay under the soil. The lucky ones have gravel or sand. Cloudy this evening with showers after midnight. Low 67° Warm night w/showers tomorrow.

Clay sure doesn't drain very well. Sounds like it's dried out now.
We had some rain this week. Encountered no wet spots when I mowed today, leaving the blade at 5.5 inches -- probably won't lower it until September.

We had t-storms in the AM & PM. Sounded like a canon war and it poured like a monsoon in the South China Sea. Watched it rain as severe as possible. Lots of wind & the crisp crack of lightning. Am very surprised the utilities did not go out.

Sounds like you dodged a bullet!
Hurricane remnants headed our way tomorrow night/overnight.
Played 18 today -- too hot to walk a tone.

Remained in the cool house, gave up on the hot sun. Ate a delightful slice of watermelon that was under $5 at WM. Time to open the windows and catch the cool night air. Then close the windows in the early morning to keep the house cool. The cities far south of me are enjoying a heat wave.
