Been kinda tropical here today but no storms so far where I've been. The guesser is jealous of Cincinnati b/c they have a tornado watch thru midnight and he sounds very hopeful that will be extended here.
Played my normal Tuesday round today but, again, stayed in the cart more due to the heat and humidity.

We had a temp of 86° and sunny until midday when the area got dark and t-storms developed. Light rain fell and it was time to stay inside, and be safe from the thunder boomers. Glad the storm did not knock out the utilities. It's more of the same today.

It was a windy, tropical day as the hurricane remnants swirled counterclockwise across Lake Erie and then down to CBUS. Tstorms in the night, just rain off and on all day with some gusty wind. I've got a tree down but have not gone out to check it closely. It was on an old fence row and was growing next to a Mulberry tree, which appears to be free now. So I've been stuck inside all day.

Lost both utilities. Many large areas had outages. Gravel roads and paved highways were washed out. Some had ditches 5 & 6' below the pavement surface. It was a 30 hour utility outage. Have standing water even on the lawn. Glad my land is on a slight slope. Forecast is 79° in partially cloudy skies. Then more rain.

A 30 hour outage would be really annoying. Even with a generator, the internet would probably go out as those relays need power.
Nice here the past two days. I played 18 today.

The phone company lines were also knocked down due to trees. Saw pix of vehicles w/the rear tires on the pavement and the front tires down in washouts. The vehicles were vertical. Found a link to show you the situation: From TV News

Pretty amazing the way the road was washed away in places. Gonna take a while to fix -- once they find the money. Hopefully your road was ok.
Did some stuff around the house and spent some time chipping and putting at the course I played yesterday. Playing the next 3 days.

The cost is trivial. There are not that many highways in this area. Going other ways is so time consuming. Have about ¾" of standing water on my lawn. It is draining off in sheets down the mtn. All of northern New England rec'd heavy rains. Need days of heat to dry the Earth.

Sounds like quite a mess. But it should dry quickly in mid summer.
Hot here today, with a brief shower. My round was over a couple of hours before it got wet.

The state and local highway dept will be busy back filling the wash outs and grading roads and highways w/their graders. Every town has roads & hwys that are washed out. Some roads are closed as they take their turns being fixed.

Sure seems like it would take some time to fix that properly. Unless it's done right, it's just going to wash out again.
Played 18 at a private club today. Really liked the track!

A pal drove me around town. Saw many places on the hwys & roads that are washed out. Looks like my town (and the others) have the reminder of the summer to work daily on the roads. There are washouts on every road. Some are 500' long and on both sides of the road.

Sounds like quite an undertaking. Also that maybe it happens to a lesser degree from time to time?
We had some rain Monday nite thru yesterday. Nice weather has settled in. Went to TG today. They didn't even have the fans on!

The time to time is about every 10 years. A pal in town bought a home on a hwy w/a road intersecting it. Water washed the road and gravel started to pile out by the front door. He had to put a board across the doorway to keep gravel from filing in the egress. The front yard is filed up w/gravel.

That's a strong current. Hopefully the rain stays away, things dry out and they get your roads fixed.
Nice one here today. I took it very easy.
