MidnightSun - Ouch! Sorry to hear of your tumble and hope you're back on active status soon. The Golden years aren't for the faint of heart, are they? We're both on parallel tracks. I missed a few days last week with a bout of vertigo. But after a quick trip to the "Doc-in-the-Box" I'm getting back on track.

Have returned to almost daily hikes around the mtn loop road. They are 4.25 mi w/ 650' gain in elevation. Like this route as no driving is required. Take a litre of cold water in a Nalgene bottle and hit the road. Reo is now accustomed to leading the way to ensure no animals interfere w/ the hike.
Can still feel the glutes around my tailbone sore from 2 weeks ago. Also bruised my liver and really injured my latissimus dorsi muscle. Until yesterday, a cough, sneeze, breathing, and even using it in motion hurt. Still shaking off the soreness.
Usually hike 21.25 mi w/a rise in elevation of 3250 ft a week. Before my full hip replacement, often hike that in a day. Then do 5,000 ft gain the very next day. Working back up to that. Not expecting to return to that anytime soon. Am in it for the views, the super health benefits, and to get my dog Reo and me exercise for our heart, lungs, & legs.

Hey, MidnightSun - It's good to hear you're back on the trail. A fall like that stays with you for quite awhile, not just physically, but in your mind too. One day at a time, my friend! Glad to hear Reo is clearing the way for you.

A bit uncomfortable, but couldn't pass up a rare day, with no rain in the forecast.

Made it sound like it was one fall. It was two falls the last two w/e's, tho not this past one. The first was one slam and a fall on my tailbone 2 weeks ago. Then on my back and head a week ago. Sure know how to beat myself nicely. Took the w/e off. Sat rain, Sunday was remodelling, then R & R.
Returned to the mtn loop road this morning. The two days off in a row worked out great. My speed was there and the two injuries did not bother me step after step.
4.25 miles w/a 650' rise in elevation. The good part was it wasn't as much of a huff and puff. Got to see scores VT & NH mtns, a few farmhouses and a herd of 14 holstein heifers. They had the same b & w color patches as my dog Reo. Each of them sniffed my dog and he exchanged greetings.
Grew up in downtown Boston It's all peace, quiet, and country scenery in these parts.

8.44 miles 153 minutes 18,157 steps 74F / 75% RH Overcast Good Morning, MidnightSun. Glad you and Reo are making some new four-legged friends. I spent a lot of my walking time with my eye to the sky this morning - a lot of overlapping layers of clouds, but so far no precip. Thanks for not mentioning the drubbing the Bosox gave the Yankees over the weekend. Their season looks like one for the record books. (But it's never over until....well, you know!) Enjoy those mountain top views, and I'm glad you're recovering nicely.

wow, I thought I walked a lot.
I was going to play golf today, but to humid (I walk instead of using gas golf cart).
So instead, took a walk.
when I went for my walk it was 70f / 90% RH mostly cloudy but clearing and sunny the 2nd half of walk.
so far today, at 5.1 miles. Although may add to that later this evening.

Relax and enjoy, today is officially Mountain Day! Hike avg is 21.25 mi this summer each week along w/a 650' rise in elevation. Yes, today is Mountain Day. A new tradition that began in Japan two y/a and one that is spreading fast in North America. One participates by going to a wooded area and relax, soaking in the clean air, and natural sounds, as you calm your thoughts. See the example below. Have a tremendous Mtn Day!

Good Morning, reb. That 90% humidity caught my eye. Someone on another forum calls that "Air you wear".
Hi, MidnightSun - Count me in for the Mountain Day celebration. I usually take the weekends off, but the sun was out this morning, and the humidity has fallen off, so I thought it would be a shame to waste a rare "nice" day.
