Had medical attention twice since I last updated this topic.
First event was belly pain Christmas Eve. My housemate insisted I was getting stressed out. Really? On Christmas Eve? What would a retired person with no kids have to get stressed out about? Maybe the fact I was in pain. Spent the first five hours of Christmas Day in the University of Texas Medical Branch Webster ER. The other nineteen hours of Christmas Day were fine, we had a total of seven eating. We had a turkey and a ham, and a lot of other things. Ate a good bit of broccoli, cheese, and rice casserole.
Haven't had much in the way of belly pain since, the ER doctor upped my omeprazole dose to forty milligrams.
Went to podiatrist on the 6th of January. First and only medical attention I've had this year. He gave me a cortisone shot in the right heel. Still not as mobile as I was a couple of years ago, but yesterday I went grocery shopping. Use a scooter in the store and have an HEB Partner load the groceries in the Escape. Have four able-bodied housemates to unload the groceries when I get home.
Soaked up most of my 2023 Medicare Part B deductible at the podiatrist. Have enough left to about cover one twenty-minute doctor visit.

In 2023, I ended out needing an ER run about once a month with belly pain. Doctor at ER asked the right questions last Wednesday night and did the right tests. I have gallstones. Gallbladder problems run on Mom's side of the family. Don't yet know if I'll end up without a gallbladder or if they'll do something else.

Sorry to read about your difficult medical year, Sneakers. Great that you've finally got at least the start of a diagnosis. Hang in there!

The medical year has if anything gotten worse.
once they diagnosed me with gallstones I haven’t had any issues with that part of my body.
What I have had was an infected blister on my left big toe cfor the past two months.
i have been on one 28 day course of IV antibiotics and they now have me in a nursing home doing a second with a different antibiotic.
i went in the hospital August 21-24, a rehabilitation hospital to September 10th, and i got out of a nursing home on September 30th.
They shipped me home in a wheelchair on the 30th. Dog barked at the wheelchair until she realized I was in it.
Went the first eleven days of October getting around the house with a walker.
On October 12th, my Medicare Home Health nurse looked at my foot and said to get to a doctor. I had no vehicle so I called 911 to take me to the Houston Methodist Clear Lake Hospital. Spent just under a week there, the podiatrist went in and did surgery on my big toe the 17th.
Got out of the hospital on the 19th, been in a nursing and rehabilitation facility since then. So far, they have had physical and occupational therapy evaluate me and I have done wound care and IV antibiotics daily.

I went to sleep last night about 8:00 PM and woke up about 4:30 AM this morning. I so far have had my first pill of the day, had my vital signs checked, and just made a comfort stop. More listening to than watching the ABC 13 morning news. Still in a short term rehabilitation facility. The staff tentatively has my release date scheduled for the 28th. I was here Thanksgiving Day and I will be here Christmas Day. Had a great lunch Thanksgiving Day. Hopefully will have more of the same Christmas Day.

Looks like I will be ready to go home Friday. My housemate will come pick me up. He says that I have a hell of a lot of mail to go through. Hopefully, most of it is junk. I am not sure how far it goes back.

I have now been sprung from the short-term rehabilitation facility. Got in front of the TV in the business room at 11:27 AM Friday morning. I'm getting a lot of exercise pushing around a walker. Doing it more now than I did in walker training at the rehabilitation facility. I bought a tray that should snap on my walker so I can keep both hands on the walker and move light things around.
