Los Angeles site gone. No more daily points for reading news articles or the points for the weekly poll. Explain to me why I should continue to post prices. I know for myself, and I'm sure for others as well, I wanted to keep my daily streak alive and collect points. As it is now, the posted prices are not always correct as some pull prices out of thin air and post them. Get this fixed. I'm with you there, Jay. My major incentive to continue to post prices was to maintain my position in the local Columbus leaderboard, where I am 7th. The local leaderboards are all gone along with the legacy sites. Same here. I'm currently 10th on the L.A. leader board. It took me years to finally crack the top 10. I'm a bit annoyed.

I don't even buy gas anymore, because I drive an EV.
I still post prices via the app to help ICE drivers who are not ready to go electric.

If you click on your "handle" you will still get your total points, national rank, and consecutive days active. You can still use your points from posting prices to enter the daily drawing for free gas.

As of 8:00 p.m. CDT these old state and city sites are still up. I doubt they'll be up long as all the other state sites have been converted. Coloradogasprices.comColoradospringsgasprices.comDenvergasprices.comOregongasprices.com Quebecgasprices.comRhodeislandgasprices.com
As of 1:00 a.m. CDT (8-8-24) of the 6 pages above, Oregon is the only old site left. Thanks, topcat57 for posting this. As of 8/08 10:00 am (pst) the Oregon site is still working. Made "pdf" file copies of the messages with buddies and save them. Also got 625 extra points reading the news articles. Done the usual task whenever I use LosAngelesgasprices.com.

I hope that people will still post prices b/c I use it to plan where to buy gas. But I don't drive too much anymore, so I don't post as often as I used to. I've been stockpiling points to do a big dump for the drawing but I'm not sure they're going to have that anymore. I tried to access it last night but couldn't.
I don't care about the leaderboard, but a local buddy emailed me yesterday about these changes and she was bummed about that.
I don't do apps, so I hope I'll be able to access the website from my computer.
This is "earth shattering" for a lot of people.
GasBuddy was started here in the Twin Cities and some of the old timer Twin Cities members also helped build this site. Not me, but some I've "known" for years. And one in particular who was a dear "buddy" of mine but is no longer alive.
In addition to the site itself, we got a lot of helpful information from each other in the forums. Much information that saved me a lot of money. But that's been gone for years now.
SAD!

The TwinCities site is gone and I'm told that the Hawai'i site is, too.
Not entirely gone, but drastically different.

Entire favorites list is gone.
I didn't even know there was a blog.
There is no current gas card drawing and all of my points are gone. Many years worth.

I noticed Chicago web site is gone.. they took the site and routed it to modified GasBuddy site.
They really wanted everyone to go to app on smart devices. There is still the drawings and but never believed the drawings were not rigged. So many of the "supposed’ winners were users that just started using app it was kind of odd. Oregon site is still there but for how long. Lol
As with most things, they have moved to making money with gas card and selling information you enter in the app.

All the sites are converted now. It’s like a web version of The Stepford Wives.LOL
They really push that “save with GB card” on the app. They really want you to sign up for it. If you read some of the station reviews, members are upset because supposedly the station/s stated that they would honor them and when members got there they wouldn’t.
It was so much fun when there was a forum and a message board especially because you could post a message to someone who was posting bad prices and they would pretty much stop it. Also, since the forum left and numerous members left, you now see stations where prices are not posted or they are posted and erased by their stupid system. They want you to have your location/GPS on when you post every station. Obviously they haven’t thought that in order to do that at most stations you have to be parked in front of the pumps for a minute or two and that prevents people who want to fill up from getting to the pumps.
AAAAARRRRRRGGGGHHH!
I wonder if the legal problem is that JT and DC hold a patent on the original GB site names. Or it could be just a bunch of BS.

My master reports: I can still use the gasbuddy.com to report prices and the favorite gas station list is still there. It's a bit clunky to use now and not as easy as the localized website. Not very happy with the change at all but it looks like the drawings are still there, just that no more 625 points for reading news anymore My master asked me to pass on this question: So just logging into the website and reading your consecutive days counts as activity despite not getting points for posting prices? Seems like you actually have to get points somehow even on days you don't feel like driving out, making it unfair to people who don't live next to a gas station...? Granted consecutive days is not much of a meaningful stat, but it's funny to keep it pumped up to several years, which may disappear today... as I don't cheat post fake prices...

As of 3:00 p.m. CDT Friday 8-8-24 the only state site still working is oregongasprices.com. I would strongly suggest if there was any info, such as old msgs or buddy lists, you want to preserve, now's the time to do it on the Oregon site. When that one's gone, I'm sure everything is gone. For one particularly long thread in a DM I wanted to save I just opened every msg in position on the list, then C&P'd the expanded msgs into a simple text file. It goes fast.
I agree with others. When they rolled out the app and began dismantling the website, it was apparent they wanted to eventually do away with the legacy websites. They don't care about the people who freely volunteered their time to building the MSL, nor do they care about the community that they destroyed by doing away with the forums and whiteboards. (Thanks to CampKohler for founding this site.) The only "leaderboards" on the app are your local boards, which are just who got the most points, and who posted the most prices over the past 30 days, not the all-time leaders. Who cares? It was interesting to occasionally look at the overall, local, half-year, and consecutive days leaders.
I was nosing around in the app a while back, and they've left all the "badges" you earned over the years for different challenges, including the "legacy" badges from the original web-based site. Did they just forget to delete those? They were cute, but I didn't really know what to do with them. They look like the little badges Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts sew on their sashes. Whoever dies with the most badges wins?
I've continued to use both the website & app. The app is faster and available away from my laptop, but there are so many ads scattered throughout the app that make the pages jump around while the larger ads load. Countless times I've gone to confirm or change a price only to tap on the price, then be redirected to some ad's site because it's bumped the price I was about to change halfway down the page.
Trying to edit stations on the MSL in recent years has been next to impossible. Our local stations have been swapping brands for ages now, yet when I've slogged through 3 or 4 pages of details, just to rebrand a station, I've gotten to the end only to find my edit wasn't applied. Someone said the photos of stations are gone, too.
ETA: Your overall rank on the leaderboard is still listed under your points-earning section on the app as is your consecutive-day streak. I wouldn't be surprised to see those disappear, too.

Shhhh. It may be an oversight. (Wishful thinking) I did try to copy my buddy list but as the TC site is gone, so is that information. Nope, I did get it.
