Yeah, it's all changed. When I go to the blog to read news articles it says I'm not logged in. When I try to log in it takes me back to the main page.

Looks like some sites are still up, just have to find a different one for now, until it disappears.

Due to a LOT of old legal issues with many parts of the local sites, we had to urgently shut them down. We also had no resources to improve them. We'll look at making some small/incremental improvements where it makes sense down the road, but this had to be done. I hated it too. We have some (we hope) positive changes coming to points down the road, and no one can get points now for news, so no reason to think you're disadvantaged.
We are actively migrating old sites to re-directs, so all pages will eventually forward to similar style pages. We're not getting rid of price spotters, of course not.
I'll try to respond here when I can, so if questions can be consolidated, that's appreciated.

The Memphis Gas Prices site is gone, too. It's apparent y'all have been moving towards eliminating the state and local pages for a long time. I've been a member for 19 years and spent hundreds of HOURS of volunteer time adding to the MSL. All I see now are my previously saved favorites.
I still log into the full site to earn the "read a news item" points. That seems to be gone now. I didn't discover until very recently anyone was adding to the GB blog. The same 2 articles from 2021 have been stickied to the front page for years. I'll see a new one occasionally, but it's never up long. When I couldn't reach the main website today I started nosing around and found the August 2nd blog post in which the changes are outlined.
Most important to me are recovering the 10+ years of DM exchanges I've had with several GBs through the messaging center on the main site. We need to find alternate ways to correspond now. One had given me his phone number which I just put in my contacts, but we never communicated that way. It was just a "here's my number in case we lose track" thing.
Is there any way, even just a short window of time, in which to log on and download copies of old DMs? I had some useful references in there but had neglected to make a backup in over a year.
ETA: Someone upthread said there may be some sites that haven't been converted. I found the Alaska Gas Prices site is still up. If you need to recover DMs, it looks like that's still possible there. There are probably other states that haven't been converted.
ETA2: I had JUST finished archiving the last of all my DMs when the Alaska site "converted" to the new format at approximately 7:20 p.m. CDT. Grabbed my 625 "read a news article" points while in there. But am I to assume the ability to correspond privately through the new GB website is gone?

I see no way to accomplish either of these daily/weekly tasks. I am so angry with Gas Buddy right now. I give you a week to fix it. I am ready to quit Gas Buddy!!

Los Angeles site gone. No more daily points for reading news articles or the points for the weekly poll. Explain to me why I should continue to post prices. I know for myself, and I'm sure for others as well, I wanted to keep my daily streak alive and collect points. As it is now, the posted prices are not always correct as some pull prices out of thin air and post them. Get this fixed.

I see no way to accomplish either of these daily/weekly tasks. I am so angry with Gas Buddy right now. I give you a week to fix it. I am ready to quit Gas Buddy!! "Old legal issues" just sounds dumb. I've thought for a long time they were going to shut down the web-based site and migrate to the app. I use both. The website was good for picking up some extra points, but I don't need points. I still used the DM feature to stay in contact with a handful of the old GBs. I've been checking the past few days to see if a member I regularly correspond with had replied. When I tried to access the Memphis site this morning it had been converted to the new "national" format, and my Inbox was gone. The very least they could have done was put a big note on the front page of each local site alerting people to the change, not burying the news in a blog post that I'm pretty sure most people didn't see since other than a random new blog post on the front page, the same two blog posts from 2021 have been there for over 3 years. The "million" one and the "refinery inventory" one. I finally found an 8-2-24 blog post from the mods that announced they were doing away with the local sites. Why they couldn't migrate the DM feature to the new site I can only assume (1) they're saving a little server space like they did when they did away with the forums a few years ago (leading to the formation of THIS board), and (2) as has been my thought all along, the new owners really couldn't care less about the old-timers who worked to help build their site. I spent HOURS, volunteer hours, of my own free will, beginning in 2006 entering stations into the MSL, and I never complained about it. No one was twisting my arm. Back then though it felt like a community of "buddies." Are the MSL and DMs gone now, too? Trying to make changes to the MSL has been difficult in recent years. You make changes, hit submit, and nothing changes. To this day there are stations around Memphis that have the former brands on the app because changes to the MSL weren't being saved. I've been a member for 19 years. Others have been here longer than that. Come on, owners. You can do better. OLD legal issues shouldn't have constituted an emergency. Something smells.

As of 8:00 p.m. CDT these old state and city sites are still up. I doubt they'll be up long as all the other state sites have been converted.
Coloradogasprices.com
Coloradospringsgasprices.com
Denvergasprices.com
Oregongasprices.com
Quebecgasprices.com
Rhodeislandgasprices.com
As of 1:00 a.m. CDT (8-8-24) of the 6 pages above, Oregon is the only old site left.

Yes, that's the article I was referring to. You wouldn't have seen it without digging into the blog section of the website.

It’s been years since I’ve been here and posted anything. Thank you to all who added their comments regarding these changes to what was once a much better system. The day they moved to the app and started the challenges was the beginning of the end. Very disappointing. Take care everyone.

columbusgasprices.com is gone, as of this morning.
The other local Ohio sites as well as ohiogasprices.com itself are also gone.

My major incentive to continue to post prices was to maintain my position in the local Columbus leaderboard, where I am 7th. The local leaderboards are all gone along with the legacy sites.
