He worked in the Studebaker plant in South Bend, Indiana. When the last Studebaker Avanti came off the line on December 31, 1963 he wrote a note that it was the very last Avanti and placed it in the lining of the truck of the car.

And still does: SUBARU. "Pleiades" is the constellation known as "The Seven Sisters," but two of the seven stars are clustered so close together they appear as one...which is why the Subaru logo actually has only six stars!
