The world's largest pyramid isn't in Egypt. The Great Pyramid of Cholula, located in Cholula, Puebla, Mexico, is the largest pyramid in the world with a base four times the size of the Great Pyramid of Giza. It is the largest monument ever constructed. Part of the reason it's not better known is that it's partially buried under a mountain. Who knew?

Coke saved one town from the Depression. A local, trusted banker in the Town of Quincy, Florida, urged anyone who would listen to invest in Coca-Cola stocks, then selling at $19 per share. Many followed his advice, and when the company's stock boomed as he'd promised, others followed. Soon, at least 67 inhabitants (in a town of fewer than 7,000) had become "Coca-Cola millionaires," making Quincy the richest U.S. town per capita. Shares today are worth $53.74 ea. The all-time high Coca Cola stock closing price was 60.13 on February 21, 2020. One share of stock purchased in 1919 for $40, with all dividends reinvested, would have been worth $9.8 million in 2012, a 10.7% annual increase adjusted for inflation. Who knew?

Who Knew???Mudd Day on December 20th annually recognizes the birthday of Dr. Samuel Mudd, a man whose name was mud after his dealings with one man.
After assassinating Lincoln on April 14, 1865, John Wilkes Booth rode with co-conspirator David Herold to Dr. Samuel Mudd’s home in the early hours of the 15th before crossing into Virginia. Mudd performed surgery on Booth’s fractured leg and allowed both men to stay the night.
At some point, Mudd must have learned of the assassination. However, he did not report Booth’s visit to the authorities for another 24 hours. This delay appeared to link him to the crime, as did his various changes of the story under interrogation.
On April 26th, authorities arrested Mudd. A military commission found him guilty of aiding and conspiring in a murder and sentenced Mudd to life imprisonment. He escaped the death penalty by a single vote.
President Andrew Johnson pardoned Mudd, and he was released from prison in 1869. Despite repeated attempts by family members and others, Mudd’s conviction has never been overturned, nor has his record been expunged.

We may have already had alien contact. In 1977, a volunteer for the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence received a 72-second-long signal from a distant star system, 120 light years from Earth. It was loud and sent from a place that had yet to be visited by mankind, so the guy who received it wrote, "Wow!"next to the original printout of the signal. It continues to be known as the "Wow! Signal." Researchers have since suggested that the noise was picked up from a passing comet. Perhaps. Who knew?
