Bonanza was one of the very first U.S. Western TV shows to be produced 100 percent in color. That’s also why it was one of the most expensive of its time. It cost between $100,000 and $150,000 to shoot each episode. They shot 431 episodes. The actors wore the same clothes each week so a reshoot or a past clip could be inserted economically. If it wasn’t for that decision, the show would have been canceled before it had the chance to become one of the most popular TV shows of all time. The only Western TV series to run longer than Bonanzas ('59 to '73) 14 years was Gunsmoke, which ran for 20 seasons. Bonanza was the first “dramatic” TV Western that didn’t focus on hunting down and killing bad guys. Instead, the show focused on such issues as racism, prejudice, and social justice. Who knew?

Who Knew???Pledge of Allegiance Day on December 28th commemorates the date Congress adopted the “The Pledge” into the United States Flag Code.
Congress formally gave recognition for the Pledge of Allegiance on December 28, 1945. Francis Bellamy receives credit for writing the Pledge of Allegiance. The Youth’s Companion, a magazine for young people, first published it anonymously on September 8, 1892, under the title “The Pledge.” It was written in celebration of the 400th anniversary of the discovery of America.
In 1923 and 1924, the National Flag Conference inserted text of the pledge into legislation. Though modifications were made, the pledge remained nearly the same. At the same time, the conference didn’t designate it as the official pledge. In its original form, it read:
“I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
The small changes resulted in this version:
“I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
On Flag Day in 1954, Congress added the words “under God” in response to the anti-Communist opinion sweeping the country during the Cold War.

Yes, you can smell rain. The smell is ozone, which typically has a sweet, pungent aroma. In stormy weather, lightning splits atmospheric nitrogen and oxygen molecules. These can then combine into nitric oxide, which, with further reactions, forms ozone. This is then carried downwind ahead of the rain with its characteristic fresh scent alerting those with sensitive noses that the rain is about to fall. You knew.

The Hercules-Corona Borealis Great Wall is the biggest galactic superstructure we have discovered so far in our Universe. It is a supercluster which has a diameter of around 10 billion light years. (5.88 trillion miles, 5.88×10¹² mi, or 5,878,625,373,183.6 miles.) Times 10 billion. Many scientists believe that our Universe is only one of a set of separate universes, collectively known as the multiverse. Who knew?
