Tried to get more Jolt Cola on the way to Lowe's today. The two Dollar General stores I tried were OUT! Monday grocery shopping got postponed till Tue (due to troubleshooting 98.9. Turned out it was ice on the antenna from the ice storm Sunday night. The Catholics will have to pray for sun so they can get back on the air) I'll try the Dollar General on the way to Aldi and if they don't have any, I guess I'll have to buy cheap house brand cola and drink two cans...then again, I don't want the HFCS, so maybe I'll just buy caffeine tablets instead.

The third Dollar General this week had six cans of Jolt Cola. Bought them all. Then off to Aldi for 6 pack of chicken breasts, romaine lettuce, M&Ms, Broccoli Stir Fry veggies and grape tomatoes. Then down the road a bit to Redner's for "Yesterday's News" cat litter, toilet paper and baking chocolate.

It's a buck a can (plus 6% sales tax or $1.06 total) at Dollar General. From Amazon it works out to be $2.26 a can! Forget that!!

I've found Amazon selling Sodastream flavor concentrates four for $49.99, while Sodastream themselves sell them for $5.99 (and if you go to a brick and mortar Walmart, $4.88, but around here you find a lot of out-of-stocks on the popular flavors). Other than going on a "reload the home office with one of everything" trip in January 2018, I usually only go to Walmart to exchange Sodastream carbon dioxide cylinders ($15 core charge on the cylinder). I usually exchange two at a time (one in each hand). The expendables work out to be $0.91 a liter:

What does Ravel's Bolero have to do with Sodastream? OH! the CD jewel case is just a size reference for the CO2 cylinder. If they had Jolt Cola in "bag in box" syrup, I'd get a one flavor soda gun, e.g. www.sodadispenserdepot.com/pics/sg00201.html

It's a bit more expensive than a Sodastream Fizzi, although I noted the price for additional flavors was $31 each. Most of the cost is in getting the first flavor out there.

At a buck a can, I probably can't beat that price even if you could get syrup for Jolt Cola. In fact, I remember when I used to help organize a big Labor Day event, 300 people attending. We used to get two soda machines with premix canisters. I had to teach the "beverage committee" how to swap out canisters. About the year 2000, getting the machines and premix from Coca-Cola was more expensive than getting it in cans from Coca-Cola and putting the cans in buckets of ice. The campground we held the event at had obtained a big ice machine by then. We could have gotten it even cheaper by going to Sams Club or similar, but by getting the soda from a Coca-Cola distributor we could return unopened cases for a refund. Soda consumption would vary quite a bit from year to year, all depending on how hot or cold Labor Day weekend was.
