Exactly and a person cannot successfully discern, if they are stuck within their own personal bubble. Growth throughout life comes from allowing new ah-ha moments of understanding but understanding will not come if they refuse to expand that bubble. At what point does a human know it all enough to dig in their heals and refuse change?

timothyu No accusation of pettiness was made, just a request to clarify. And your comment about "lip service" is thereby rendered unclear (a not uncommon characteristic of your posts.
Unless a particular religion is the will of God. And we are all to worship God and obey His commandments. A religion is simply a way of doing those things. if you believe in God and strive to follow him, you are following a religion -- even if the religion is a religion-of-one, as in your case, Tim.

It can be if used properly. But there will always be both sides represented within. This is where discernment comes in between those two. Can the sheep discern the intentions of the self proclaimed mini-shepherds if the basis of the religion does not stress the conflict God has always spoken of as being the contrast between the will of man and the will of God?
Jesus promoted a way of life, loving neighbour as self, not some human theologically laden and politically advantageous religion.
Religion has always better served the will of man than the will of God.

Gth said "(BTW, God's will can be accomplished through the unwitting actions of others, even unbelievers. Look up references to King Cyrus in the Old Testament)." Gth got you there Timothyu.

Religion has always better served the will of man than the will of God. A pertinent message lost among the vast majority of Christians - and I suspect the many followers of all religions.
