That is really funny maddog. I love it. Hey...I respect NC even though I'm a UK fan....Puke...errrr...did I say that out loud?......Duke, on the other hand, lost my respect in 92 when Laettner did his crap. And before some Duke fan starts crying about the shot, it has nothing to do with what I call an error on our part and a damn good shot on his part. It has to do with the thuggish crap Laettner pulled early in the game. If that had been any other team doing that, their player would be sitting in the locker room! Just look at that pile of garbage Grayson Allen.....I think he was probably mentored by Laettner. Allen lives in Jacksonville and Laettner lives in Ponte Vedra (ritzy beach area in the Jacksonville area). Laettner used to have a basketball camp for kids. I would put money on it that Allen went there! LOL FIRE IN THE HOLE!! ( sit's waiting on the Blue Devils to come out of the woodwork since I knocked the hornets nest out of the tree!)

ə i recall when drake played kansas in 1971, in the elite eight game. ku won a very hard-fought battle. it was academic because those were the the perfect seasons for ucla. that season saw some really interesting games. drake defeated u of l by two in d. m. on a last-second shot. but when we went there, it was no contest: u of l 94, drake 52! so everyone assumed that the cardinals would go to the ncaa (which in those days was only sixteen teams) and drake to the nit. well, drake caught fire and u of l fizzled, and it ended up being a three-way playoff between those two and memphis st. u of l beat the last school, and drake won, and went to the ncaa, where they defeated notre dame, but it was close. after that was the ku game. after that, maury john went to isu and drake got the old u of l coach, howard stacey. they had some decent seasons under him, but nothing outstanding. i went to drake to get my degree, but was not a good student, and the teams were doing poorly then. for this topic, i hope michigan can win! btw, i will be running in the drake road races in under a month. ə
ND - I was in DM from 68 to 75. The big thing I remember of drake was losing to UCLA by 3 points in the semi finals of the final four in 69. And then winning the game for 3rd place. They made it to the elite eight the next 2 years and then he left for I State. One of the best coaches ever in the Mo Valley.

I heard those were some good teams back then. I wouldn't know, I wasn't even born yet! LOL

ə oh, woe! oh, the pain! michigan was up 21-14. villanova outscored them 23-6! the second half was about the same. it took the wolverines seven minutes to attain what vu had at halftime, and i think it was 37-51 then. at one point the lead was 22, but um made it a difference of seventeen, losing 62-79. i give the wolverines credit for getting to the final game, but they were just overmatched. i always am disappointed when one of those eastern schools (villanova, duke, connecticut, or any of the other state schools there, but esp. the florida ones including miami fl since those are not good institutions of higher learning but are just athlete factories)) plus alabama and some of those other ones from the southeast conference, win it. the good news on the other side was, notre dame won the women’s title, and penn state the nit. with college basketball finished, now i can concentrate on mlb and milb, and watch the i-cubs. see them here. ə

That game was over when Nova went on their 23-6 tear in the 1st half. Michigan got away from their game and never recovered.

I think Nova was a bad matchup for anyone this year. Those guys can shot it. Doesn't matter who hits the shots for them. Congrats to them on their 3rd National Championship.

Nova had outstanding lay from Dante leading them to the win. Great championship!
Now with basketball over for the year we can move on to other things. Start getting ready for the college world series in Omaha.

Round ball is back and Kansas has made it to the top. For how long, only time will tell.

ə a good season for three of the big four teams in ia: drake, iowa, and isu all won twenty or more in both men’s and women’s b-ball! only n. iowa failed to keep pace. i hope all of those make it far in the ncaa! go drake, iowa, and isu! if n. iowa makes it to the postseason, good luck to them too! ə

Iowa and ISU have looked great all year but they are in tough conferences and have ended up in the middle of the pack. Drake is on top of the Mo Valley and NIU is back in the middle. If UNI doesn't make the NIT there is always the CBI and that other bunch.

TTU looked good in beating both Michigan and the Zags this weekend.
