Illinois got the victory, but looked weak against visiting Kent State.

It may be my bias against both teams, but I thought ND and the school up north both looked pretty bad Saturday night. ND got the win, leaving coach Harbaugh 0 for whatever in his games against ranked opponents, assuming ESPN's stat was right going in.

#10 ranked Penn State was almost upset at home by Appalachian State. Penn State scored in overtime for the 45-38 victory. Frankly they should have lost that game. Appy State had the ball late in regulation after Penn State tied it up, starting from their 25 with :42 left. It seemed destined for OT at that point, but Appy completed a 30 yard pass on the first play of the possession, suddenly making a regulation win look likely. But they were out of magic tricks, throwing an incomplete pass on first down and then ran on 2nd -- probably thinking a 2nd and 10 running play might work there because nobody would expect a run in that situation. And that's because nobody that wanted to win would run there. They couldn't convert on 3rd and 4, so they were forced to try a 56 yard FG for the W. Not even close. And the rest is history. So Penn State survives a scary start. Developing . . .

Scott Frost lost his debut as Cornhuskers coach. A stupid penalty by Antonio Reed with a couple of minutes left in the game gave Colorado a first down and helped set up Colorado's winning touchdown.

Scott Frost is 0-2 as the Cornhuskers coach. Troy was supposed to be an easy W for the Cornhuskers. Next up is Michigan at Ann Arbor.

Looks like they need more than a coaching change. He'll recruit better players than they have now, but Lincoln is just not an easy sell.

Looks like they need more than a coaching change. He'll recruit better players than they have now, but Lincoln is just not an easy sell. A losing season will make it even more difficult to persuade high school players in football rich states like Florida and Texas to come to Lincoln. And, there are not enough elite high school players in the State of Nebraska or neighboring states to recruit. Before it is all said and done, Frost might end up regretting leaving Central Florida.
