I'll hang around for 3 days after the forums close to get my 10 years in. Then I'll make a clean cut with no animosity. Time to move on.

Visited the unnamed site this morning, and have a mixed reaction to it. Been there over 11 years, and the first 5 to 7 years were the "tightest" of all of it. Questions and inquires were answered fast and friendly. not like the "Our offices are closed, and we'll be back during our business hours." * I have one request unanswered, and the other was answered by the passage of March 27th. Certainly it's been altered. Automation is their friend as it will replace us as reporters of gas prices. * Not liking getting posting points limited to the news pages only. Discourse this morning between members posting on news pages going at each other. The news page posting may come to an end soon. It was not pleasant to read someone going off on another member. * The Total Points and other individual statistics are still in place. It is still a viable gas price reporting site. Your results will vary. * Regards.

I will certainly go back on or about March 28 just to see what remains and how it functions. I ***might*** stop in periodically to check a price or a pricing trend in another area of the metro area or across the state if I am traveling, but reliability of price posts has been spotty at best for years. I'm in an area where I have easy access to the city of Minneapolis and several suburbs, depending on which direction I go. I have found over the years that sometimes there is a station (or cluster of stations) within my range that has a lower price. Where that is has varied greatly, so the gas price map has been an important help to me in deciding where to go without having to drive all over the place to look at prices. It's sad that now that will be a lot less reliable. Also, from our local "COUPONS" forum I learned which gas chains accept competitor coupons and how to find them online, as well as using the SA fuel and reward cards for extra savings. I hope I'll be able to continue that on my own, or maybe here. That's the kind of thing that the new owners have no interest in b/c they can't monetize it. I've always felt that b/c I benefit from what others have posted that it's my responsibility to do my part to post prices and whatever else I might know that could help someone else. Now I'm torn between that view and not wanting anything else to do with them. I wonder if DI is turning over in his grave. He did so much and spent so much time developing that site and posting helpful information for others, only now to have it trashed by the new owners. I think the altruistic view of how GB started is still alive. I will continue to post prices. On a sad note, I had an old bookmark to DI's portal, which contained so many useful links to other sites, but looks like that was all archived by the U, with a 12/31/2017 end date to relocate anything he had stored there.

This is funny, I am also a (TSTSNBN) but the Forums were not the main reason I was there, I started there to post prices and to take part in the GAME OF POINTS. I still do that and will con't but I lost a way to meet and greet fellow GB members on daily basis, and that is why I am here. If you were a member for the forums only, then you are in a better place now, where you can sit and talk and talk and talk.

I'm officially done with them.
I was a GB for over 10 years but no more.
They are in my rear view mirror.

Most of the time I spent on the site was posting in IM, forums & whiteboards, so not much to do there anymore other than post prices & do the fuel logbook...or is that gone too?

Instant messaging is still there + albums (behind the scenes) - have to click on your avatar to get into the album. Guess they realized we still needed a place to store photos for avatars, and IM required for them to communicate with us. Forums, whiteboard & public viewing of albums gone...

We are reporters of gas prices working for "free" !
Also, I'm spending 50 points per day towards the gas card game.

Still accumulating minimal points and posts there. Also can still send messages to friends that have not switched over to visit us here. For now GBO is progressing ahead and leaving GB in the dust ! Not everyone will agree but GB is the reason we have made it to here and met so many nice people, had many great times and expressed much humor, laughter and some sorrow. Currently have 398 buddies from the other side and 454 Consecutive Days from day one Jan 1,2017, hard to throw that all away !

Jimco22, Congrats on being "Consecutive" from day 1. Most people aren't, and once you aren't, you can't get it back. Best to all this Easter weekend. Regards.
