Well here we are the hospitals are all full over flowing and if they are I am told picking and choosing who to treat because they feel they have a better chance of surviving and more of a life which means they won't pick me not at 90 years of age with underlying problems of breathing anyway. So one more reason for me to stay in, stay out of places that I don't have to be, use my head the common sense. Sure I've had a long life, but I have a couple of reasons for wanting to hang around a little longer.

Thanks to the people who traveled to other homes for Thanksgiving our hospitals are full up , and Christmas travel surge is yet to come. Thanks to people thinking only of themselves and the now instead of the good of everybody and the future.
I am concerned even more so now because I am hearing that because of the hospitals being overwhelmed with covid-19 cases that they are the doctors are making decisions as to who to treat or not and you know darn well that 90 year olds with health issues are not going to be in the group that gets treated

I'm in Category 1B in Texas (65, obese, congestive heart failure). They are getting vaccine out slowly. Speaking about vaccine, I think I need to get Prevnar-13 (pneumococcal vaccine). I had pneumonia in November despite having had Pneumovax-23 a few years ago. Pneumococcal vaccine is covered in full under Medicare Part B.

With ambulance companies being told not to bring older people to the hospitals at all, and treatment being refused to them who do get there, yes I am afraid of covid-19. Especially now that I've heard that even though I'm in 1B group it will be late February at least probably early March before they reach our group.

Tru, though we have stark differences of opinion about some of the reactions to the Pandemic, I want to note that I do hope you and everyone else posting here is well and stays that way. I just saw the following meme and it reminded me of the sentiment I've seen expressed here. It applies in so many situations!

I use variation of that, SUV. I join you and hoping that everyone stays well. I personally have only been aware of one person that actually has covid-19. And that was someone online but I only know from postings.

We don't know anyone who has had or currently has COVID19 and we both hope it stays that way. We have not tried to get our shots. We are both eligible for the first group to get their shots. Will start trying in late Feb when things slow down a bit and there is a greater supply of vaccine. Meanwhile, we stay home as much as possible. When we go out, masks are a must. Social distancing also, but hard to do in a doctor's office.

Got my first COVID-19 vaccine dose scheduled for the morning of February 19th. Don't know whether it will be Moderna or Pfizer. They gave me both Vaccine Information Statements when I scheduled.

Congrats Sneakers!
Tru, I know at least ten people who have contracted it. Fortunately, I have not been near any of them in person. Now, if it could spread via Zoom call . . . .

Hey Sneakers, glad you could get your first dose. Have not even tried to signup in my area. However, seems like more places will be giving out the shots soon in my area. Might make it easier to signup.

I'm getting a little less afraid, or maybe I should say more bold. I had my first vaccine shot for covid-19. Absolutely no reactions other than just a little soreness at the site of the injection that muscle.

My wife is an RN and has had both Pfizer shots. The second one kicked her butt. Very sore arm, aches, chills and fever for about 24 hours. She was up and going within 36 hours.
I'm not in the age range yet to get in line. Hopefully soon.
Am I afraid? No. Concerned, yes. I take all the necessary precautions. Masking up, avoiding crowds doing what I can to be safe.
