I saw an avatar this morning that got one going in my head and it won't stop, though it's playing with the updated lyrics. The song? Yellow Submarine by Ringo Starr, which would be bad enough with the original artist and lyrics. I searched and found the same image as the avatar in google images:

Such a lovely voice. The dichotomy is stark. Angelic tones, and a flowing beat. The lyrics make me want to go walk into traffic, run the van in our closed garage, overdose on drugs I've never used, or start cutting on myself. It's almost a non sequitur. Like having a bouquet of really pretty flowers that smell awful (to paraphrase Mr. Spock in one of the Star Trek episodes that featured Harry Mudd). * Billie Eilish - Everything I wanted. It's baaaacccck. Am I going to be able to even find the traffic I feel like walking into? It's like walking into the light, and then you burn your cheek on a regular old light bulb. The filament type. Powered the Easy-Bake ovens for decades? Burns hot, and definitely can cause blistering. Painful. Scarring. Can't forget. Yes, it's like that. Until the next one comes along. * Regards.

He had such a big part in the soundtrack of our lives. It wasn't the number, but the quality of his songs that are remembered as his trademark. I remember my wife creating a photo album for her Brother, about a day he and the nieces spent outdoors a number of years ago. She set it to this song, and it just fit. That's the way this artist's songs blended with what was going on at the moment. And what was important. Thank you, Sir. * Bill Withers - Lovely Day.

During this virus crisis it's getting tougher and tougher to separate the days. I do find GBs daily challenges helpful in that regard, as different days bring different challenges. Monday is especially key due to the Rooster Booster challenge that is available only until 9 am. I don't know what this says about me but I have no reason to think there was any reason other than that challenge that caused me to awaken with this song playing in my head:
Monday, Monday -- The Mamas and the Papas
I sure hope I can avoid the Moody Blues later today!

They played John Denver's Take Me Home, Country Roads on SeriusXM's 70s on 7 as I was pulling into my garage today and now it's stuck in my head.

I heard Elton John's Funeral For A Friend the other day and that's playing in my head this morning, reminding me of this topic.

Pluto TV comes at no additional charge with my Spectrum service. Among Pluto's "classic TV" offerings is The Johnny Carson channel. All day, every day they show Tonight Show reruns in a seemingly random order. I watched a couple the other day, one from '79 and another from '81 and now the Tonight Show Theme is stuck in my head!

Today, I've got The Foundation's Build Me Up Buttercup stuck in my head. During my workout yesterday, an insurance company's ad featured the song in a very unusual, creatively effective way:
It's not a great commercial in the sense that I didn't remember the ad sponsor. I found the video by googling the song title followed by the word "commercial" and it was the first hit. Guess I'm not the first to do that!

I don't remember hearing it but when I was in the car for north of 5 hours yesterday, much of the time listening to 70s on 7, they must have played Deep Purple's My Woman From Tokyo, as I woke up to it's chorus this morning.

Fast Forward about 19 months, and we have a different vibe on the radio as I record gas prices on a daily basis. A very popular song these days has a upbeat message and is a much lighter song to listen to. Besides, she told me I'm her Sugar Boo. * Dua Lipa - Levitating.

I need to find out if Olivia Rodrigo has sung any 'happy' songs lately. She may need some counseling, or ice cream. * Olivia Rodrigo - Good for You.
