Patty and Uncle--We got a decent amount of rain. Had nearly three inches of rain for the whole day. Some cities in the RGC did get some flooding, but probably had drainage issues. Our city never came to clean the drainage ditch, but never came close to being full. We had 2.28" the past two days at the local official rain gage. Didn't notice any street flooding around here.Sneakers--Glad the doctor is close and no line at HEB. Sounds like a good day. HEB here had lower prices than Valero. Podiatrist has two offices. He goes to the one here in Friendswood in the morning and he goes to the one in Webster in the afternoon. Neither office is that far away but they're in opposite directions. First time I was at the drive-through window at HEB and there was no line. Almost thought they closed for Juneteenth.

Supper tonight was meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and corn. Ate the meatloaf and the mashed potatoes together because the mashed potatoes were tasteless like usual. Do you put butter or gravy on the mashed potatoes?

After Friday, only 3 days of school left. And Wednesday is a half day, like on Fridays are. patty7841, fingers crossed your temporary cement job keeps holding. Why not try that. No hard in trying is there? You're probably right. The older dentist should retire if he's pushing 70. soutxed, three inches of rain in one day sounds like a lot. Glad your drainage ditch didn't get full. Take care everyone.

Thursday morning, I slept to almost 11:30 AM. Missed the ABC 13 eleven o'clock news but caught "Jeopardy!"
Lunch was two chicken breast sandwiches and a tumbler of water. Wiped out the chicken breast and nearly wiped out the bread.
Was trying to clean up my desk but fell asleep watching the Astros-White Sox game. Astros won 5-3.
AJ got some groceries but we need milk and tea. I've got a bit more than $30 on my Discover Card and a $20 bill to last to next Wednesday and my Social Security Retirement payment.
Supper last night was about six o'clock. Pieces of chicken in macaroni.
Was tired of sitting, went to bedroom, stretched out on the bed, turned on Classic Rewind on SiriusXM, and called the family. Talked to cousin Janet, cousin Martha, and brother Allen. It was cold in the bedroom, had to cover myself up with my quilt to keep from shivering.
Went in the business room and watched the first half of the CW 39 nine o'clock news. Then, took my bedtime pills and went to bed.
Kept waking up for comfort stops, decided to get up about four in the morning.
Watching the ABC 13 Friday morning news. Just got a tumbler of water and took my morning pills.
Got three main things to do today: throw out the trash, clean up my desk before AJ does it, and have my Friday home health visit.

Watched the ABC 13 morning news until "Good Morning America" was over. Then, I switched to CNBC.
Got trash bag out of the business room trash can and dumped my paper shredder shreds in the trash bag. Took it to John's room and commented today was trash day. Put a new trash bag in the trash can.
Back to ABC 13 for the eleven o'clock news and "Jeopardy!" I ate lunch during "Jeopardy!" Bologna on Pepperidge Farm cinnamon bread. It was quite tasty.
We were out of milk and tea, so after I ate lunch I placed an order with HEB for curbside pickup. AJ picked up the groceries in the four o'clock hour. What we got: Four one-gallon jugs of Red Diamond Sugar-Free Tea A canister of cherry Kool-Aid mix (8 quarts) A ten-slice package of HEB Mild Cheddar sliced cheese Two one-gallon jugs of HEB 2% milk A ten-slice package of HEB Swiss sliced cheese A ten-slice package of HEB Provolone sliced cheese A seven-ounce package of HEB Uncured Beef Pastrami A 1# round of Oscar Mayer cotto salami
Had home health nurse come to visit. He looked at Dr. Clause's notes and said that I would be approved for two more months of home health.
Watched KPRC Channel 2 from noon to 1:00 PM, CNBC from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, and back to KPRC Channel 2 from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM.
Watching Astros-Orioles game this evening. It's been a real track meet. The Astros won 14-11. Been spending the evening sorting through the stack of mail on my desk. Found stuff going back to 2022. Still not done.
Had Shepherds' Pie for supper tonight.
Hopefully the food will last us through Tuesday because Wednesday I get my June Social Security Retirement payment. A good chunk will come out of it because I need to pay for two months of electricity. I do have a $20 bill and AJ is doing odd jobs.
Got two pieces of mail showing in Informed Delivery for tomorrow. One ad for Shell Federal Credit Union and the annual report package that I get being a part-owner of the Green Bay Packers.
Took my bedtime pills, going to go to bed right after I send this.

Uncle--When I worked for an engineering firm studying the drainage system in Harlingen (1968) I learned most drainage systems are designed for 1 inch an hour. So, 3 inches a day is not bad. Still getting rain from a second system coming through, we can use all the rain we can get. Three more days, the school year will be over soon. Stanly cup goes seven games. Who would have thought a week ago?
Sneakers--At least you don't have to go out in the rain to read the rain gauge. I need to clean my desk also. Been letting paperwork stack up here, most of which will go in the recycle box or the shredder.
Ed--I put gravy.
Thursday, a SIL had cataract sugery in Edinburg. Niece who took her dropped her off at our house so we could take her back to doctor for follow-up. Niece had her own doctor's appointment Friday morning in San Antonio. Thought appointment was at 10AM, but Thursday night, SIL said she had to be at doctor's office by 8:45 AM. So we had to leave at 7:45 as traffic on the expressway under construction near Edinburg gets busy.
Ladies overslept so quick breakfast and coffee to go. Two blocks from home a little dog ran in front of the car and I had to hit the brakes hard. SIL and wife's coffee ended up on me and wife. At least it wasn't burning. The dog's owner gave me "the look." Best we could tell never said anything to the dog.
Traffic wasn't bad so we made it on time. Doctor's office was backed. Two chairs left so I found a bench outside and sat there for an hour. SIL got good results as the surgery went well. She has to go back next week, but she should be able to drive herself.
Took her to San Perlita as she is staying with caretaker sister. Had a good visit. Got into a discussion about the LGBTQ community and caretaker had no idea what that meant. Also a discussion about the mysterious death of a friend. Sheriff office isn't saying much, but the family had a closed casket so that seems to indicate there was violence.
Hope to go out tonight if weather permits.

I look at the rain gage quite a bit when it's raining. It also has a stream elevation sensor. Flooding begins at 12' but I don't think it will reach here unless it goes to 20'. During Harvey, it went to 24.8' which was an 800-year flood.
I've been going through the stack of paper. Hopefully AJ will be able to tell the difference but the main thing that he does is smell for warmed paper from an AC adapter. ThinkPad has a HUGE power brick.

Woke up at 3:30 AM and couldn't get back to sleep. So, I got up and went in the business room.
Started out seeing the news on NewsNation, then ABC 13. ABC 13's Saturday morning news runs another hour.
Drank two tumblers of sugar-free tea. Made at least three comfort stops.
Going through the stack of mail on my desk. Will do more now that I'm woke up. AJ says I'm making progress getting rid of the fire hazard and I can put food and drink on the desk.
Will listen to something on SiriusXM between 10:30 AM and 3:00 PM.
Will then watch/listen to the Astros-Orioles game.

I'm getting to the point where I'm finding things that got buried, like a family picture. I've got the bin on the paper shredder nearly filled. Plan to put the power brick under the TV as there's enough room for it to clear and leave some ventilation room.

Soutxed: Your morning driving your SIL to the eye surgeon was really bad luck. Between the coffee spill and the dog running out to the street. Around here, there is a leash law where dogs cannot run freely outdoors. Yesterday, a truck with a small trailer carrying lawn equipment (company obviously does landscaping) ran a red light (intersection) and going damn fast too. I was coming down the road toward the intersection and I planned on taking a right. I had to use the brake in order to do so. Thank goodness I was not going straight across the intersection. I could have been killed. Unless I see a vehicle(s) stopped when I have a green light, I tend to slow down. It was very scary.
Uncle: The crown came out on Thursday as I had my teeth cleaned on Wednesday. After that cleaning, I thought anyone of my teeth was going to fall out. I was able to re-cement it in with no problem. Good to go for now. Good that you only have 2.5 days of school left. Enjoy the Summer.
Sneakers: It is good to get rid of stacks of paper. I tend to shred a lot before it builds up fast and then I cannot find anything. In this dump that I am residing in at the moment, there are big black spiders and earwigs. I have used bug spray to no avail. Some will die off but the ones that don't come right in my door. It is so tight on the bottom of my entry door that my door squeals every time I go to open or close it. Maybe they are getting in on the sides or top of the door. I will talk to maintenance Monday morning. Another rotten Summer. I only have 2 rooms so it is a little unsettling.
Have a good weekend Everyone!!
