Area won't get back to normal until CenterPoint Energy gets everyone power. Houston is too hot in the summer without air conditioning. CenterPoint Energy is replacing their wood power poles with composite poles, the composite poles held up in the spring derecho and Hurricane Beryl. There is discussion about accelerating the transition. DTE has been replacing all the poles in the neighborhood next to ours. This week they had a guy in our neighborhood putting up the little flags and marking the ground, and street, with paint so I am guessing we are next. They have done a lot of work in our neighborhood and the next one after we got clobbered with that storm back in 2022.

Hello, Sneakers. Congratulations to Cousin Martha and spouse. 50 years together is something to crow about! "Euthymic"!! I had to look that one up.
Hi, Uncle. Some bus companies here encourage their drivers to take the buses home with them if they live on a farm or have lots of acreage (and understanding neighbors). Seems like a good idea. They can walk out the door and be on the job in 10 seconds, any vandalism is spread out over the whole town, and the company saves money on parking lot upkeep.
Good Morning, soutxed. Our pastor has an uncanny way of saving his longest sermons for the hottest mornings (no A/C). His intentions are good but he just can't help himself. He even used to set his iphone to buzz after so many minutes, but he'd turn it off and keep going (like the Energizer Bunny). But I suppose what's too long in my mind could be too short in some traditions. How long do your services last? Butler PA is about an hour south of here, a nice small city north of Pittsburgh. Glad to hear Crazy Lady is still around. Hope you had a good meal if you went out for lunch.

Hello, Sneakers. Congratulations to Cousin Martha and spouse. 50 years together is something to crow about! Especially given that Cousin Martha is a cancer survivor. IIRC, breast and brain both. She has periodic PET scans to look for a recurrence. So far, no recurrence. Martha's flower girl recently passed away, when I asked her Mom (cousin Janet) what was wrong with her she said a lot of things."Euthymic"!! I had to look that one up. I was not euthymic in the hospital when I was using a bedpan in ICU. Somehow, I missed the bedpan and made a huge poop in the bed. Nurse cleaned me and the bed and told me to stop flipping out about it.

soutxed, with my bus route, one stop should go away. It only had one student and that student will be in middle school. Any new stop could be added for all I know. If a school has to combine routes, the students are on the bus for longer. Morning and afternoon, which is too bad. I see the Rangers beat the Astros again today. We'll see after the break who improves, like the Braves did a few years ago. No Sunday night game because of the draft. lorando (NW PA), I wish I could park my bus at home. Usually I only do that on a Friday morning, if there is a place to park on the street. The kids get out 3 hours earlier, so parking at home helps then. One drawback to parking your bus at home, if they need to work on it, you have to change your routine. In a way, I'm glad I don't have that problem. Take care everyone.

Got in bed right at midnight last night. Alarm went off at 8:30 AM and I woke up. Laid in bed and listened to FOX News Headlines 24/7 on SiriusXM.
Got up a few minutes after ten o'clock. Got in the business room just as they started streaming Cousin Martha's church service. AJ had gotten three bags of stuff that came home from the hospital out of the Tundra.
Listened to the service. During the sermon, I got distracted by my hospital discharge instructions and started reading them. Turns out I was taking all my medications correctly but one that I wasn't taking that I should have. I corrected that on the spot.
The altar call today had a young lady who was making a profession of faith.
After the streamed service ended, I turned on The Message on SiriusXM and kept it on until 12:30 PM, at which time I turned on the Astros-Rangers pregame.
Lunch today was an eight-ounce can of HEB Fruit Cocktail, a large single size Stouffer's Lasagna with Meat and Sauce, and a container of Houston Methodist water.
Watched the Astros-Rangers game. Rangers won 4-2.
After the game, I did some cleaning on my bedroom. Had two kitchen trash bags full of used disposable diapers that I picked up off the floor of my bedroom. Was not easy, I was hobbling around the bedroom. Partway through, I called brother Allen, cousin Janet, and cousin Martha. I changed the diaper I was wearing because it needed it. I've got 71 unused ones in Amazon packaging. Doubt I need to buy any more this month.
Got out of the bedroom soon after six o'clock. Went in business room and started listening to SiriusXM Classic Vinyl.
At eight o'clock, Michelle brought me a plate of what AJ calls "chop suey." It's not Chinese at all. It's ground beef, onions, diced tomatoes, and elbow macaroni. Went back for seconds a bit ago.
Watched the nine o'clock CW 39 news, followed by the KPRC Channel 2 ten o'clock news.
Just took my bedtime pills. Heading to bed at the bottom of the hour.

Sneakers--I forgot to wish a happy anniversary to Martha. Fifty years is a long time. Good news that she is still cancer free. As a fellow cancer survivor. I know how she feels. I see the governor is going to investigate CenterPoint Energy. As far as I know, we still have wood poles here. AEP pretty much as completed repairs from Beryl south of Houston. After the last two minor hurricanes, as far as I know, repairs were done in three or four days. The exception is where only one customer in a neighborhood had a power outage. That was usually a low priority. OTOH, Magic Valley Coop takes longer, at least in San Perlita. A power out a few weeks ago lasted 6 hours and it was a one location issue. We told family to save the check they get every year to make a deposit towards a Generac.
Patty--I guess it is good not much going on is a good thing.
Uncle--The school board in a neighboring district knows the routes will be longer. Concern is when with Daylight time, it will be dark in the morning. Some rural areas there is no lighting and poses a danger, especially with the crazy drivers we have. Also at their meeting, they still have concerns about drivers passing school buses with flashing lights. Sheriff department will try to follow busses at the start of the year.
Lorando--Have you ever been to Butler? First, I thought it was a small town, but see it has nearly 200,000 people and should have a decent PD. The pastor at the church where our daughter works has a clock on the back wall that counts down, but sometimes he ignores it. But his sermons when we are there are good, and time passes quickly.
Wife's church at BBQ plates for sale so she picked up two and we ate at home. Large piece of chicken so we have leftovers.
Did some cleaning. Watched a couple of Netflix episodes about the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. Interesting what they go through. Then saw that the Copa de Americas soccer championship was delayed because security could not keep unticked spectators out. Had to clear the stadium and start over. Game went to OT and ended at 12:30 AM Miami time. There were issues with spectators at a semi-final game. With the lack of proper Secuity at the Trump Rally and other issues, maybe FIFA will move the World Cup out of the US. Or find cities where they can guarantee security.
Gym today.

Hello, Uncle. Got a message from the Electric Co-op to conserve energy today. Temps aren't that high (84ish F.), but the dew point is in the uncomfortable range. The amount of sunshine & heat will determine the strength of the PM thunderstorms -- typical summer fare here, but nowhere close to the heat soutxed and Sneakers see on one of their cool days. Have a safe trip.
Hello, Sneakers. I seem to be moving in slow motion today. Here it is after noon, and I'm still working on the normal AM routine. I get up super-early on Sundays, so it seems to take a day to get back on track.
Hi, soutxed. You must have looked up Butler County, with a population of 200,000. The town of Butler (which is in Butler County) is only about 10,000 I think. When I was more active in the Sons of the American Revolution I was in the Butler Chapter, and it's a nice little town. Then they formed a new chapter closer to home. I've driven past the County Fair Grounds, but never had a reason to stop. Hope your Monday is going well.

This will be my last entry for about a week and a half. My home will get very warm while I'm away. Somehow my cat puts up with it. My area will have near record highs and I won't be home to cool it off. We have had a very warm July and August might not be any different. The worst part is, my unit faces south, so sun all day. patty7841, thanks. Should be a good get together. soutxed, yes, the lack of street lights in rural areas can be a problem. If the sheriff department can follow buses when they use the stop sign, that might help for awhile, at least. Some drivers are just in too much of a hurry. lorando (NW PA), my province had a record amount of electricity used one day last week. Not cooling off here at all. Thunderstorms some nights. Take care everyone.

Sneakers--I forgot to wish a happy anniversary to Martha. Fifty years is a long time. Good news that she is still cancer free. As a fellow cancer survivor. I know how she feels. I've had a couple of precancerous growths, which were removed. That's close enough.I see the governor is going to investigate CenterPoint Energy. As far as I know, we still have wood poles here. AEP pretty much as completed repairs from Beryl south of Houston. After the last two minor hurricanes, as far as I know, repairs were done in three or four days. A power out a few weeks ago lasted 6 hours and it was a one location issue. We told family to save the check they get every year to make a deposit towards a Generac. Abbott will result in CenterPoint spending a lot of money that could be better spent increasing the reliability of the grid. I feel that way because I'm an electrical engineer and not a politician who has to get good soundbites. Had my one semester of power utility studies back in the 1970s. Worked on a hybrid computer that simulated the electricity grid in parts of Missouri. Ran at twenty times real time. The slowest thing on the grid was a coal plant that took ten hours to spin up.

Hello, Sneakers. I seem to be moving in slow motion today. Here it is after noon, and I'm still working on the normal AM routine. I get up super-early on Sundays, so it seems to take a day to get back on track.
I seemed to be about the same way. Kept drifting in and out of sleep in my task chair. Wanted to take a shower before 10:30 AM but I was too groggy. Probably will take one tomorrow.
Didn't call my internist or my psychiatrist for appointments today. Need to see both of them.
Need to get a haircut sometime. Last one I had was in late October when I was in Ignite. It changed my appearance enough that the rehab facility staff got a new picture of me for their computers.
Got my Medicare Supplement statement through July 15th. I have exceeded $1,000,000.00 in billed medical expenses for 2024. Also got the water, sewer, and trash bill for May and June. Don't have to pay it until after the first of August. Will likely pay it from my Social Security Retirement I get on the 24th.
Think we're going to have to go grocery shopping tomorrow. We were down to frozen pizza for supper. It's nourishment, but I get tired of eating it. I'm also wanting to get some small cans of pineapple chunks. Seems I have lots of small cans of fruit cocktail.

Slept from about eleven o'clock to six in the morning. Then, I got up and went in the business room.
Watched the FOX 26 morning news and drifted in and out of awareness.
Did not get in a shower before Krista the home health nurse came at 10:30 AM. She took my vital signs and rebandaged my left big toe.
Got my water, sewer, and trash bill for May and June. We used a little less water than we did on May's bill for March and April.
Lunch today was a small can of HEB peach slices and two bagel sandwiches (salami and Cheddar cheese).
Watched CNBC in the afternoon until the stock market closed. Switched a bit late to the KPRC Channel 2 afternoon news because I'd drifted off napping.
Taxable brokerage account was down 0.61% today, going against the major market indexes.
No snail mail today. Informed Delivery shows three items for tomorrow. One for AJ and two for me.
Watched the news to 6:30 PM and then went in my bedroom. Stretched out on my bed and called family. Only person I got was Cousin Martha. She's like I am, spending time at home.
Got my Medicare Supplement statement through July 15th. They have processed more than $1,000,000.00 in medical claims for 2024. They've processed through early June, which covered most all of my skin graft sessions.
Came back out and had supper. Six slices of frozen pizza and a small can of HEB Fruit Cocktail.
Watched the CW 39 nine o'clock news and the KPRC Channel 2 ten o'clock news.
Just downed my bedtime pills. Had to open a new bottle of one of the five.

Waited too long after the bedtime pills to go to bed. So, I fell asleep in the task chair in my business room. Woke up about 5:30 AM needing to make a comfort stop. Seems when I sleep in the task chair I go hours without needing a comfort stop. When I'm in bed, I'm up every couple of hours. Go figure.

Sneakers--I see Entergy still has nearly 5000 customers without power and Abbott says nothing about them. Must be a county that already votes for him. I know what you mean, when I sleep in the chair, I get up fewer times. For a while, I turned the pressure up on the C-Pac and got up less. But now back to 3-5 times a night. Hope you get groceries soon. $1,000,000 medical bills, wow. Is there a maximum that the supplement will cover, or will they cut you off? Our water bill this month was high due to the leaky toilet. It's fixed plus with all the rain we haven't watered out lawn.
Ed--Be careful during the thunderstorms. Saw an interview with the Michigan Governor and she seems pretty sharp. Talked about the attempt to kidnap her over Covid issues.
Uncle--Our cat endures a warm house when we are away and the two days with no A/C. He suffered better than we did. Have a safe trip. Enjoy your time with family. Sounds like your area is suffering the same climate change the US is.
Lorando--I guess I did, I just googled Buter so it gave me the county. The PD in a city if 10,000 may not have enough officers to cover an event such as a Trump rally. When Trump was here right before his term ended, Harlingen PD was all over the airport area. Tried to stop a take a picture of Air Force One and was told to keep it moving. We got one of those conserve energy notices from Reliant. But it was when our AC wasn't working so not a problem. We have been warned of rolling blackouts this August.
Went to gym and ran into a former student who was in town for a class reunion.
Mowed the back yard late in the day. No weed eater problems this time.
Watched part of the GOP convention but was reading at the same time.
Talked to a friend on the phone who I haven't seen. He's doing fine.
Take care and stay cool.
