Souxted: What a great idea about a video that came with your bedside table. I have a lamp and a 3-level shelf to put together. I should at least take them out of the box before the return window expires. I cannot imagine putting a lamp together. Should have gone to Target and gotten one that was already assembled. I never knew lamps needed assembly or at least some of them. Had 2 days of family from out of state. It was a busy week and I am exhausted. Went to dinner one day and yesterday was at a backyard cookout. I got asthma really bad there from a couple of people smoking to having citronella wicks burning to keep the mosquitoes away. Plus ragweed must have started as it was rather windy yesterday (Saturday). That is nice that family is considering how to help your SIL with the cancer treatment payments. Treatments like that should not have copays or deductibles. People are very sick and should not have to worry about financial burdens.
Sneakers: Are you being discharged at the end of the month? The occupational therapy seems similar to the last time. I remember you mentioning the "wiggles" the last time you had that therapy. I wonder why the rehab place does not give you a menu to fill out. Even if it was from a few items to choose from. I would never be eating there. For breakfast, I like an English Muffin, banana, grapefruit and/or strawberries. I am a fussy eater.
lorando: Sounds like you are having a relaxing Sunday. I got out of bed early afternoon. I had no idea what time it was. I have been so tired with family from out of state. Called out sick from retail. Need a Sunday off once in awhile.
Have a good start to the week Everyone!!!

Friday Start of road trip Up at 6:30am and a quick breakfast Wife took Coco to her sister's house. Coco and Linda adore each other. I put the bike rack (hitch mounted, only way to go) on the car and loaded the bikes. Wife packed a lunch rotesserie chicken sandwiches, doritos, cheetos and filled our water bottles with ice and water.
Headed out about 8:30am for Grayling Michigan. First stop was the Grayling Fish hatchery. They have picnic tables there so we availed ourselves of one and ate the lunch Mary had packed. After lunch we bought a sack of fish food and walked by the holding pens dropping food in and watching the fish jump out of the water to get it. The attendent told us to follow a trail that led to a pond full of blue gills painted turtles, snapping turtles and ducks.
Next stop was Hartwick State Park where I proposed to my wife 12 years ago. First we unloaded the bikes and biked the trail from the the park to Camp Grayling Army base. It must've been drill week because there were CH47 helicopters buzzing around all day. At one point I could see helicopter blades whirring through the trees but Mary couldn't see them. We biked a little further up to a clearing and I could see that it was a CH47 just hovering about 20 feet off the ground. Mary could see it too. After biking we walked the path and stopped for a sit on "our bench". Sadly it isn't the same one. A tree fell on ours during a storm smashing it to bits so the replacement has to do.
Went to Wimpy burgers for dinner. Mary had a burger that she liked and I had a Gryo that I didn't like.
After that we went to the motel and called it a night.
Saturday
Slept in until 8:15am. Got up, got showered, checked out and went to the Grayling Restaurant for breakfast. We split the Lumberjack breakfast and between the two of us we polished it off. Then we went to Goodales Bakery where Mary's uncle George would hang out. He lived to be 105 years old. I had a custard filled donut and Mary had a danish.
Back on the road heading to Elk Rapids. I'll finish that up later since it is nearly time for bed.

Probably a few days in September before I get to go home. The thing that I am here for is IV antibiotics. I could have gone to an infusion center daily but that would impede AJ from working as I don’t drive anymore and it is about $30 to take an UBER from Friendswood to Webster round trip. Occupational therapy usually consists of wiggles. I am a bit concerned about doing them with the right arm because of the PICC. I did have trouble with one once, the connection ports broke off. They were able to fix things easily. Usual nursing home food is like prison food: you get to eat the meal of the day.or starve. The local.hospitals and ignite have menus. It should be said that the nursing home picked out popular items. Supper was messed up, they said three cups of liquid and I got zero. Also didn’t get the turkey salad slider they had on the menu. Quite tasty. 9:20 PM, still no beverages. The nursing staff has been apologizing for Dietary. What they listed was not what they delivered.

soutxed, it's too bad that other teacher wasn't reliable. Important information had to be shared with co-workers. lorando (NW PA), I'm sure the Mets won't mind giving up the record for worst season. They only played 160 games that season, or it could have been worse. At least they can say they were an expansion team. This years White Sox can't say that. The Yankees are hard to figure out. But the playoffs are what is remembered. Take care everyone.

Lorando--A baby can do that. One of our fomer members who moved away brought her baby the church a few weeks ago and got a lot of attention. Our service runs 70-80 minutes. One nearby church whom I looked in during Covid went nearly two hours. Sermon was an hour. Told by a member that is common. Generally Catholic masses run an hour or less. The Global Church has a longer communion ritual, but we only use all of it the 1st Sunday of the month. Yankees defeated the Rangers. With the Astros win they are along in 1st place. Seems Rangers walked Boone, and a later batter hit a three-run homer.
Sneakers--When BIL first went to the nursing home, he was a picky eater. Eggs for breakfast, chicken and rice for lunch or supper and beef tacos for the other. Didn't eat veggies. Often his wife would take food from our house and warm it up at the nurse's station. Sometimes she called us to pick up something from a nearby Mexican restaurant. As time went on and they realized he wasn't going home, he started eating the food brought to him. Also, I pointed out to him, a devout Catholic, that the Bible is several places says eat what is served.
Patty--Yes video helped but it really wasn't that complicated. Neither should the lamp be that hard as there are not that many parts. One thing, Hispanic families do tend to come together during a crisis. All but the evil twin helped caretaker sister with the oldest sister when she went into home hospice. Same with younger brother when he was sick. But during that time, evil BIL had to have a meeting with all the family to explain he was leaving for an overseas assignment. Most couldn't care less. Evil twin helped some, but not on Sunday as the LDS church says one cannot work on Sunday.
Ed--Interesting trip. I hadn't thought about the fact helicopters can fly low when we learned there is a restriction in our neighborhood of drones not flying over five feet here.
Church went well. Did really well on cameras. But twice the streaming went down but we got it back up quickly.
Went to a new Sports Bistro. My co-worker in the press box was right, there is a picture on the wall of us. Actually, it is a large picture of team captains lined up for coin toss. Actually, there is a college of many pictures of local HS athletics. The food was better than expected and there are two rooms with 15 TVs in each. Watched the start of the Astros game, but left before it was over as there was a long line of people wating to be seated. But it will be a go to when the Cowboys have a 12 noon start on Sunday. Prices were reasonable, ate for $40 while most places the cost is $50-60. Oh yes, sitting next to the picture was a family where the young man is one of the captains in the picture. But with helmet, could really see his face in the picture.
Headed to the gym and then prayer time. As the campaign seems to be getting worse and so many AI adds being run, we need prayer badly in this country.

Mom insisted I was a picky eater but in reality you can count the things I won’t eat on the fingers of one hand. i got curious about that one time and my co-workers and I compared what we wouldn’t eat. I found I had a quite diverse diet. AJ took Isaiah food when he was in the hospital because he found hospital food unpalatable. The places in the Bible where it says to eat what is served talks about eating food that was once sacrificed to idols. Something I don’t think they have at HEB.

Hello, Sneakers. Hope you are feeling well-infused and ready for a new week. Every morning I walk past a house that has 2 little dachshunds, and a sign in the driveway that says "Beware of the Wigglebutts". Sounds like an appropriate name for your Occupational Therapy group. You seem like you would be a good patient, being able to keep yourself occupied, while easily adapting to new situations.
Howdy, Uncle. Is this the week you sign the papers for another year behind the wheel? I hope you don't have any major changes in your routes. It would be a pain to have to learn a new route with all new kids. I came across a world wide radio station finder yesterday on the internet and ended up listening to a station in Lethbridge - CKXU. It was certainly different, but entertaining. Sounds like an independent or college station, with lots of well -- weird -- but interesting programming. I think I'll tune in again tonight.
Hello, soutxed. Thanks for the info on service times. It looks like an hour and a half isn't too far out of the ordinary. I can't complain. We're lucky to have our priest, and he's a good guy. Just gets carried away sometimes. It's hard to be upset with someone who loves what they're doing. Ed's remarks about the helicopter reminded me of the time I was walking along the Allegheny River and a C-130, following the river, came up from behind at about 150 feet altitude. Later found out it was a training flight from an Air National Guard base in Youngstown, Ohio. A young guy on a bike was going past, and yelled "I love this place!!" Probably a Pittsburgher up for the trails.
Hi, Patty. That sounds like a good kind of tired, after a weekend of being with family. Your family sounds like mine, spread out and with a lot more email than personal contact. I actually like that. I was thinking of you last week. My great-niece is moving into her first apartment in Boston, after graduating in June. And the best part is that is just a few blocks from Fenway Park. Hmmm. Maybe I should rethink that first paragraph about not having much contact with family

Had my seventh daily infusion this morning. Slept through the disconnection. I am more the Wigglelegs more than the Wigglebutts. Keep myself occupied, got an iPad and a TV to keep me occupied. Just drank the last of my water so I hit the nurse call button. Lots of Generac generator ads on TV, probably just the thing for the post-Beryl environment. Think foot is no longer oozing, at least not enough to get through the bandages. Lunch was chicken fried steak with gravy, green beans, dinner roll, cake, and iced tea. Consumed it all.

Saturday continued
Went to Elk Rapids Michigan to see a couple that Mary used to nanny for their 3 kids. Of the two older ones only the oldest one, Gabe, was there as well as the youngest daughter who doesn't remember Mary since she was really little when Mary moved on to her nursing job.
Their house used to be a residence (a parsonage) then it was a commercial property that housed a tailor and a chiropractor's office. It is zoned commercial or residential so they submitted paperwork to transfer it back to residential house. For the first 4 months they didn't have a shower or a kitchen while they completely remodeled it back to a residence.
It's a really nice location the town is right off Grand Traverse Bay and they can walk to downtown and the marina where all the rich people have their boats. We went to the restaurant where Gabe is working the summer before he start college in the fall. Sadly there was over an hour wait for a table so we passed and went to the pizza joint across the street.
Dinner was at their house. Michelle made up a meal of burgers, baked potatoes and ceaser salad. The rest of the day was visiting and catching up. Gabe came home from work and told us a story of he and his friends sneaking into courtside seats for a Pistons game. They got caught but the security people were so impressed with their creativity they let them stay and let them "sneak in" to 4 more games.
Me with their "lap" dog Roxie. She is a Great Dane, Mastiff and St Bernard mix. They would be hard pressed to find 3 bigger breeds to combine.
Sunday
Driving, driving and more driving, stopping at Big Boys for lunch. We each had a Slim Jim sandwich mine with waffle fries that we split.

Got a session of arm wiggles in bed this afternoon.
Supper was macaroni and cheese with diced ham, cornbread, cake, and iced tea. They had some breaded fried okra that I did not eat. Really enjoyed the macaroni and cheese with ham. May make it at home.
Watched the Astros beat the Tampa Bay Rays 6-1.
Blood pressure was 104/65, the nurse skipped the bedtime blood pressure medicine.
Nine o’clock late evening local news just started on CW39. Fell asleep during the news and woke up in time to see the midnight rebroadcast. Fell asleep during the midnight rebroadcast.
Got urinal full and water glass empty. Just buzzed nurse to come fill and empty things.
Woke up just before 4:00 AM.

Sneakers--I knew the Bible verse did refer to sacrifices, but BIL was never that deep into the Bible. He was mostly into attending mass and a RCC retreat. Pastor of my church preached on Galatians 5 about getting stuck on the rules (law) of the Pharisees. I see the rules of the RCC very similar as opposed to many Protestants church which are more flexible.
Lorando--Like the term Wigglebutts. Helicopters are interesting. Last time one flew low over our neighborhood the police were looking for someone who broke into a home a few blocks away and killed the owner. Turned out it was over some woman. DPS was from the state police as our PD doesn't have one.
Ed--Interesting a business being turned back into a house. But no kitchen would be a challenge.
Uncle--Saw a story from a nearby school district that students who ride the bus will get an id card with a tracker inside. That way authorities will know which bus students are riding and if they get off at the wrong place where to find them. Hope the technology works. Today first day of school for students. Noticed the bus stop near our house had only one student. Usually there are 4 or 5. But like you said, parents take students on the 1st day.
Speaking of 1st day, today is the first day of school for youngest grandchild who is a senior this year. Making us feel old.
Went to another new restaurant last night owned by the cousin of a friend. It was tryout day before their big opening later this week. A few glitches but the food was good.
Meeting today with financial advisor. Seeing if we can up our income to deal with inflation. Saw several large businesses charged with price gouging. One I wish was charged is Valero. But even when they are highest priced stations in Harlingen, I see people filling up their cars there.

Good Morning, soutxed. Wow, your oldest grandchild is a senior in high school! That's such an important age! Decisions made can determine the rest if his or her life. That's a lot of pressure on a kid. I had no clue what I wanted to do after high school. It was just dumb luck that I stumbled into a career that I loved. I see the Astros are on a hot streak. Remember how they struggled in the beginning of the season! A lot can happen in 162 games! The student ID card with tracking capabilities sounds interesting. I wonder if that's for all levels? It seems like it would be most valuable at the elementary level, but they would be least likely to carry it every day!
Hi, Sneakers. Mac & Cheese/Diced ham & cornbread sounds delicious! I used to make cornbread (from a kit) when I attempted my hand at enchiladas - a nice blend of salty and sweet! Do you still have your roommate? Being a temporary stop on the way to recovery, there's probably a fairly quick turnaround. Had to go into town early this morning to meet the plumber, who inspected the backflow device to the city's water system. So we're good for another year. This afternoon I have to go back to let in the Culligan Man for the annual check the water softener.
Hi, Uncle. Yankees lost, actually got trounced, by the White Sox last night. Yes, those White Sox! Just one of those things, or manager failure to have his team prepared? I still lean toward the first, but.... Love these cool nights in the 50°s.

When I was in Jr High school the neighborhood across the main road from ours got to take a bus to school while we had to walk. A group of us would go over there in the morning to ride the bus. At one point the school got wise to the situation and issued bus passes to the students in that neighborhood. Turns out, though, that the bus pass was just a piece of orange construction paper that was laminated. We got some of the paper, went over to Arlans Department store and used their laminator machine to make our own. They worked like a charm and they never caught on.

Many believers don’t get that deep into the Bible. I read the whole New Testament in 2011 when I was in a nursing home recovering from a C. Difficile infection because I didn’t have much to do. The nursing home had a room with an aquarium in it and I spent most of my time there. The staff pretty much knew where to find me. Here, I haven’t been out of the room because I came over in a hospital gown. Slept pretty good last night. From about eight o’clock last night until just before 4:00 AM in the morning. Got a wound care doctor in to look at my left foot. A nurse unbandaged it, the doctor looked, and the nurse rebandaged the wound. Had a blood draw from the left elbow. Nurse connected the smaller of the two antibiotic containers to my PICC. The second one is waiting on the results from the lab work. Breakfast today was a biscuit, a sausage patty, oatmeal, and orange juice. They gave me eggs but I didn’t eat them. The staff was talking about a shower later today which is fine with me. Last shower I had was in July. After that, they have been wiping me down with antiseptic treated wipes . They don’t want me walking on my left foot before they get a post surgery shoe as I may pop the sutures.

The Macaroni and Cheese was the only thing that I have had here where I wanted seconds that wasn’t fruit. Still have the roommate but we’re situated so we can only hear each other but if he goes to the bathroom he walks where I can see him. He Is talking to his family about getting his bills paid. He doesn’t do like I do, he writes checks while I pay everything on the whateverPad. (I can do it on the iPad or ThinkPad.) It sounds like my roommate will soon go elsewhere. Put most of my checking account against a credit card. Only a few dollars left to the 28th, fifteen days from now. Had my foot examined by the wound care doctor. Haven’t seen Dr. Clause since he did the surgery. Had the first of two antibiotic infusions this morning. Second one is waiting on lab work to come back. As my Mom observed when she became an elder at her church, you get to do a lot of secular things to facilitate doing the sacred things.
