Very much looking forward to starting my spring riding. Between weather and time commitments, I've not yet hit the road. The Irish Pub Children's Foundation Tour de Shore is July 29th. Just about the worst time of the year to bike 65 miles in Philadelphia. LOL

How many people ride their mountain bikes on pavement... bad idea? I'm sure the knobby dirt tires will tire you out faster than road tires on pavement... ? Many people ride their mtn bikes on pavement. Many people only have one bike. My wife currently only has one bike, a mtn bike. She rides it on the Tour de Cure charity ride. I put on tires with less knobs. You will be getting a 'bonus' workout, as the knobs cause more friction, so you will have to work harder to go. So, yes, you would get tired out a little quicker.

I am a Type 1 diabetic. This month is my 45 anniversary of being diagnosed with diabetes. I raise money by doing the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure in the Twin Cities. This is my page on their website. HI already had their event this month. The Twin Cities in June 2. Tour de Cure web site Click the link to join my team to ride, run, or walk. Or to donate. No amount is too small. Thank you.

18.1 miles home yesterday in a warm 46°F clear blue skies, and a cross/tail wind. Almost had to go back out again, because my elevation gain was 960 feet. 40 feet away from 1,000 feet of climbing.
4.8 miles to the bus this am with the temp at 30°F and clear skies filled with stars, and a slight breeze in the face.

In the winter, snowy months I try for 75 miles a week. In the non snow months at least a 100. If I make it cool, if not, oh well. Last year I biked about 5200 miles. Highest yearly total for me ever. I keep getting a little higher each year, since I started seriously commuting 5 ish years ago. Once I turned 16, I didn't touch a bike. Wife and I got bikes together when I was about 37. Started on hygrids, then I got in to mtn biking, which is still my favorite type of riding, and then I started commuting in the summer, then fall, then until it snowed, and then until it was 30°F, then 20, then 0, and now I don't really have a "Ain't gonna ride today" weather. Ok, if it is pouring in the morning, I won't ride. Showers in the afternoon predicted, but fine in the am, I can handle that. I am now 52, and commute almost daily, using the bus.

Sounds good, CG. When we get the chance, we'll use Riff Raft as a water taxi for ya!

ə well, i found it! thanks for the link, cgrover! i did ride yesrterday (today is only seven minutes old), twice. the first was to an apartment building, where i met up with a friend and we walked to a meal site and back. it came to a little under seven km. later, i biked to my church and back. that was a bit over eight km. so i got in about fifteen km. on mon. i sent in my registration for bigbam, missouri’s answer to ragbrai®. i plan to do both. still looking for a trailer for my bike so i can transport my camping gear. also, does anyone else participate in any of the wnbrs? (the link is to the chicago one; i have tried to get there twice but failed; this time i have more confidence that i can make it.) the madison one is much smaller and a week later, but while i did that one a few times, i mus tsit it out this year in order to prepare for bam. these events are not only a statement agai9nst big oil and other concepts, they are loads of fun. hope to see you in some of these events!

4.8 miles to the bus stop this am with the temps at 26°F. biked to the work bike club happy hour yesterday afternoon, so not a lot of time to bike after that, so just a 4 mile ride home. Today, if I get to go home early, and depending on if a friend wants to meet up, I may bike all the way home, which is at least 22 miles. Wind should be blowing the correct way.
bigbam sounds like a nice name. ragbrai is a weird name, but everyone (well, maybe not everyone) knows what it is. I have never been to a wnbr ride. I haven't heard of them. I have heard of ride without pants, and know there is one of those around here, but also haven't made them.
BG, I am looking forward to the water taxi!!
SEM!

YES!! 10.2 miles with the sun mostly out, 38°F, and windy. 102 miles for the week. 30 Days of Biking kick off party tomorrow. And, probably scouting part of the Tour de Cure 100 mile route tomorrow in the 20 mph winds and gusts over 30 mph, and the temps maybe at 30.
