Sounds like you're making good progress with the cleaning.
Congrats on landing a good candidate for the directorship.
I don't know what I did, either. Sure was something. Today was better. Had a 45 on the front with a 7 but settled in on the back with a 40 for an 85. Learned a lot about the course, too, which should help next time.
Been watching round 1 of the PGA on a delay. It's painful to watch Tiger. He's 10 shots off the lead at +1. 45 of the 68 players in the morning wave were at level par or better. If the afternoon group performs similarly, he'll be in danger of missing the cut. He actually got to -1 on his 16th but then 3 putted the last 2 holes, making bogey on each. The old Tiger didn't 3 putt, much less twice in a row. Gonna be interesting.
Have a great weekend!

Sounds like a productive round that got better as you went. Impressive considering it was a new course to you. Keep it going!
Sounds like Tiger is one of those professional athletes that is sticking around too long. It happens all the time in pro sports. I am guessing the great athletes have huge egos, think they are different, and find it difficult to let go.
Trash went out today so I got busy this morning and filled three more tall kitchen sized bags full of trash and got them out before pick up. Also have a medium sized box full of items for charity. Starting to see the difference.
There are two add on packages to choose from for our cruise. both are "free", but have gratuity charges. The regular cruise fare comes with all meals in the formal dining room along with several other smaller restaurants throughout the ship, including 24 hour food availability. The only drinks included with that though are water, tea, and coffee. It does not include the specialty restaurants either like their Brazilian all you can eat meat place. Most alcohol based drinks are $15 - $20 each if purchased separately. This is one of the easiest decisions I have ever had to make. It is your typical no brainer.
Package A
• Unlimited free drinks. Additional cost of $152.60 per person for gratuities on Beverage Package. • Two free meals at the specialty restaurants. Additional cost of $19.80 per person for gratuities on Dining Package
• Shore Excursion Credit of $50 for 1st guest per excursion
• Free WIFI - 150 minutes for each guest
Package B
• Shore Excursion Credit of $50 for 1st guest per excursion
• Free WIFI - 150 minutes for each guest
• Onboard Credit is $100 per stateroom
Happy Thursday!!!

More good progress on the cleaning project.
The add ons would be easy for me. But then I've never been on a cruise and doubt I ever will go on one. So I've got no frame of reference.
Went back to TG while it rained yesterday and had a good practice session. Did not play for a score on the virtual course -- just hit shots until I was satisfied on each hole. Sometimes no extra shots, sometimes a half dozen or so. Had 2 monster drives for me that have me feeling better about that club. Headed back to the course I played Thursday tomorrow so we'll see what I learned and what I can apply.
Took today off from golf other than watching the PGA. I think your assessment of Woods is spot on. He had 3 bad holes in a row yesterday on his first 9 -- 2 hockey sticks and a bogey. Tough to overcome 7 over par on 3 holes at that level when you're already 2 below the cut line. He didn't and missed the cut. Those were Tiger's first 2 triples in his PGA tourney career. Quite a milestone.
I'd guess you heard the news about world #1 Scottie Scheffler taking a detour to get to the course yesterday am? His story is that it was chaotic and confusing on the course driveway. A cop who was investigating a fatal accident on the course property says Scottie disregarded his order and then the cop did what cops do and grabbed hold of Scottie's ride and got dragged a few car lengths. The cop's moronicity led to a felony charge against Scheffler. I wish they'd teach cops not to do that in cop school. Do they think they're strong enough to stop a car? I mean, it was raining, dark and windows are up. They need to use some sense.
Hope the weekend's going well!

How could I have not heard about Scottie Scheffler? It is all over the new feeds. Two thoughts. First, yes the police were not wise in their tactics. Second, he should know better and did disobey police orders. Not buying the confusing excuse. With that said, he will get off with a slap on the wrist.
Nice to have options when it rains and I think not keeping score was a good strategy. Hope today's round goes well.
For a 7 day cruise, that is a great deal. You can't get an alcoholic beverage on the ship for less that about $12 and even soda is about $3. If I can't drink at least two or three drinks plus diet soda with breakfast and lunch every day, something is wrong. Plus, the package is for tips, so I do not have to worry about that, unless I want to for exemplary service.
Tonight is Mrs. Hawk's graduation ceremony at Chaifitz Arena. This will be her seventh degree. Next she will probably get a doctorate. The great news is that she has loan debt!!! Not for me, but if that is what makes her happy..
May have a deal on her parents house even though it is not listed yet. An investor made a pretty solid cash offer. Keep your fingers crossed. That is the key to getting them moved out.
Happy Sunday!!!

Actually, from what I heard, it wasn't even a slap. Charges were dropped. It's possible cruiser video showed the cop was in the wrong. If so, that should emerge at some point. I've not seen anything that shows he understood what the cop wanted. He said he didn't know about the accident, and that's credible, as he also didn't know tee times were pushed back b/c of it. I think it's also important that this was on private property, not a city street.
I'm guessing you meant there's no loan debt? Congrats to Mrs. Hawk! Also not for me but, again, to each their own.
Hopefully the deal goes through and they can move on. I know it's beyond time!
My round started rough but quickly improved. Took a double on the first after my drive double crossed me and bent into a tree instead of away from it. From there I managed a string of pars and then played level bogey the rest of the way, ending 5 under bogey for an 83 and a takedown of the top team! Still no birdies but a couple of really nice par putts and I know the birdies will fall soon.
Have a great week!

Sounds like you are starting to turn the corner. The birdies will be coming soon, if the rain ever stops.
Had to get something for my mom from Walmart the other day. I avoid that place whenever I can, but could only get what she wanted there. It was a semi expensive item, around $50, and they actually had a human checker so I went to her. The item was too big to bag. As I walked out, another lady asked if she could see my receipt. Told her no and kept walking. I get it at Sam's or Costco because they are membership stores and make the rules, but anywhere else, forget it. You will need the police for me to show it.
The investors are really serious about flipping the place, so I think the deal will go through. They have had contractors in non stop since the offer was accepted preparing bids. We have three ring cameras set up at the house and I am not sure if they don't care or don't realize it, but we see and hear them when they are there.
I made a verbal offer to the person we selected to be our admin this morning and she accepted. Now IU just have to send it to her in writing and notify the other two they did not get the position. Glad to have that behind me.
Happy Wednesday!!!

It's been a long time since I bought something at Wallyworld. I don't think they were checking receipts back then or, more likely, I was at the one in Newark, Ohio where they wouldn't dare try that as there's no need. I guess we tolerate it at the warehouse stores b/c it's a club and we agree to their rules when we join. If they tried that on me at a regular store, I think I'd explain that if they're going to insist on seeing my receipt, I'll show it to the nice person in customer service to get my refund.
I'd guess they don't think about the snooping doorbell. Those things are that common now. I'm more concerned with people hacking into them that I don't have one, though I do have Alexa, who I know is always listening and likely is programmed to pick up on words and phrases without lighting up or saying anything.
Congrats on getting the spot filled with your 1st choice!
Went to TG today with family and a friend. I went early and played 11 Spanish Bay holes, generally hitting it well. Then afterward, I did the closest to the hole game leaving the 3 departed folks' accounts active and hit 4 balls for each of the 9 shots. I'll be doing more of that by signing in someone who's not there and hitting multiple balls. Our group played Angry Birds and another game that reward both good and bad shots.
One of my buddies reacted to a golf video that showed a number of guys driving carts and tipping them over or falling off of them by posting a quote of the line featured in this video, which I'm sure you'll enjoy and approve of:
Speaking of morons, I posted about one in Musings earlier.
Finally, I posted a fun plate I that I had spotted today in the Vanity plates thread.
I have a lot of family around starting tomorrow and will not post here until Tuesday. Enjoy the holiday weekend!

Nice way to get in some extra practice at TG. Sounds like you are turning the corner. Keep it going!!!
Very original on the license plate and other adjustments. Did not think people in Illinois were that creative. Must be a transplant.
I need to keep that video. There are morons everywhere.
It is not just the ring doorbell. We have two other ring cameras in the house since there is no one there and a lot of valuables. The real estate agent and buyers know they are there but I guess either they do not care, or forget. We find out in the next few days if the deal is going through. I cannot see it not happening. The buyer has contractors in there every day planning bids for the renovations he is planning.
The main online auction of my in-law's stuff ended Wednesday night and it went extremely well. I found the auctioneer through a networking friend of mine here and we are extremely satisfied. The auction that just closed was all their stuff. The other three, they only have a portion of the items in because they need to be specialty auctions to attract the best buyers. Those are for guns, fine art, and higher end jewelry.
My granddaughter's pre K graduation went well last night. 50+ kids across three classes and we were in and out in an hour. This afternoon is another granddaughter's graduation, this one from kindergarten. Afterwards we are going back to my son's to celebrate. He is serving BBQ from one of the best places in the area, Sugarfire.
Happy Friday!!!

There were no kindergarten/prek graduations when I was a kid at my school. Just h/s. Taking home a report card that said I passed was enough for me. No regrets!
Glad to hear the auction went well! Hopefully the deal closes and they can get on to their new digs!
Golf this morning saw a return of my inconsistency. Lost my match because of it. I'll be back at TG tomorrow. I know I'm close to a breakthrough and just need to push on. Subbing in another league on Thursday at a really nice course, which should be fun and maybe a chance to break out.
Used my propane torch on Sunday to trim some places that were not near to anything flammable. Really did a nice job and it's kinda fun!
Getting late, gonna shut it down.
Have a great week!

Hope TG helped and that you do well in your outing tomorrow. Looking forward to hearing about it.
Lot of fun things you can do with a propane torch. I am still holding out for a flamethrower to clear snow off my driveway and sidewalk.
I agree. Graduations have gotten out of hand. It is one of the school's versions of a participation trophy, but when your grandchildren ask you to go...
The contract on my in-law's house was signed this past weekend. All that remains is closing in 4 - 6 weeks, although the buyer is trying to expedite it. No way they will back out now. They put down $100K in earnest money and now that they have had their inspection and signed the papers, if they walk away, they forfeit the money.
My FIL saw the orthopedic doctor today and definitely needs hip replacement surgery. He meets with the surgeon on the 14th to set a schedule.
Happy Wednesday!!!

That might be a reason to hope for snow!
I'd probably do the same if it were my gks.
With those terms, I don't see how the deal blows up. Still, fingers crossed!
Hopefully they can get that hip replaced and he's in good enough shape to do the rehab. The problem with the latter is it's PT and they have protocols. They won't push anyone beyond what's comfortable for the patient. Sadly, a lot, possibly most, patients are not willing to work as hard as they need to and end up blaming the procedure for their own failure.
Today's round got cancelled. I was subbing but the league requires at least one regular player to be there. The other guy bailed, too. I could have played still but it would have been 45 minutes, maybe an hour (I didn't look at traffic) during morning rush to get there. It was a good course, but not THAT good! So I went to TG again today and hit it solid. I'm playing a nearby course tomorrow.
When I mowed after TG, I noticed that the deer have started back in on the plants I'd sprinked Irish Spring around. That was before the bed was mulched a couple weeks back, so I'm heading out to do that again. Probably time to do it anyway.
Have a great weekend!

Sorry that the golf event was cancelled for you but it sounds like you took advantage of the time and got in some good practice.
The deer are relentless and you definitely have to stay on top of them. Did you get a new batch of Irish Spring spread?
I gave up on the deer and focus my effort on ants. We live on an ant hill and if I do not treat regularly, they want to come into the house. Been very successful. I walk around the perimeter of the house every 3 - 4 weeks and look for ant activity. If I see any, I put out some poison. The product that works best for me is Advion Ant Gel. It is a little pricey but is far better than Terro,
Went to the grand opening at my friend's X Golf yesterday. Saw a lot of my old networking friends there because they are part of the Chamber that did the ribbon cutting. It was nice to see them.
Competed in the closest to the pin contest and am happy with my results. The hole was at 97 yards and they suggested a wedge. I pulled out the 9 iron but the person running it convinced me I should use the wedge. Glad he did. 4 of my shots were to the left of the green and landed in about the same spot. When I tried to adjust, the other one went to the right. My closest to the pin was 19 yards and my furthest, 26 yards. Figured out the last time I golfed was the summer of 2012 so overall I am happy with my shots.
Really enjoyed the set up there. You step on a button on the floor and a ball pops up and sets up on a tee. Two other buttons move the tee up or down. Another two buttons move you right or left in the tee box. If you do not want to hit from a tee, you take the ball off and the tee disappears. when you hit the ball the video shows the flight of the ball and speed. Like TG, you can play several courses around the world or just practice. Definitely need to go back.
Happy Saturday!!!

Sounds like you had a great time at X-golf! I'd use the 54° gap wedge from 97 yards. You did well in the closest to the pin with a lot of consistency -- surprising considering that long layoff. The tees at TG are not automated the way you describe. That would be nice.
That looks like a solid product. I don't know what my pest control service uses but it seems to work. I did get the Irish Spring spread the other night. Seems to be doing the job.
Ended up playing a nearby course with one of my buddies yesterday. Played ok but blew up on the 8th and 9th holes on the front and on the 15th and 16th on the back. I walked it. The course is very hilly and spread out. Plus it got pretty warm by the end. I have not been walking courses the past few weeks and I got fairly tired by the end. Finished strong with a par on the par 5 last, recovering from a so-so tee shot with a great fairway wood and then a 7 iron to 25 feet. Came close to making the birdie!
Rain tomorrow but Monday I'll tee it up at a course I like a lot. We'll see how I fare on their island green! I've parred it and I've made double par before. Really tough hole when the wind's blowing -- direction doesn't much matter!
Have a great one!

There is actually an X Golf in the Columbus area. Not sure how convenient it is for you, but it would be worth trying at least once. I am sure you can get a special deal to try it out.
Now it is just a matter of eliminating the troublesome occasional holes.
I am assuming the island green is on a parr 3. If so, my prediction is you get there in one. After that is up to you.
Actually slept in both days this weekend and did my workout later in the morning. Still woke up between 4:15 and 4:30, but instead of getting up and going to HW, I rolled over and tried to sleep some more.
A while back I told you how on my morning trip to the gym that in about a 4 mile stretch the speed limit goes from 45 to 40, then 35 as you cross into each municipality. They still run radar regularly. The town with the 35 speed limit got two new black mid sized SUV police vehicles with the cherries tight to the roof. They run in tandem in the afternoon as well. One of them was parked in my gym lot the other day and I talked to him. They are getting people non stop for speeding, but since Missouri has laws about how much revenue (percentage) you can generate from speeding tickets, they have to go idle now and then.
Mrs. Hawk is in KC again this weekend and is having movers bring back even more stuff on Monday. That is all I will say about it.
Happy Sunday!!!

They write tickets for speeding b/c it's easy. That area with the ever changing speed limits is just stupid. And cops wonder why they don't have the support of the public.
Sounds at least like Mrs. Hawk is approaching the end of the KC issue.
Yesterday's round was fun even though I didn't score great. I did manage to stay out of the water on the island green but pulled my tee shot a little left and thought it was in a bunker. Nope, it ended up in a clump of ornamental grass behind the bunker, so the result was the same as dunking it. Had to take an unplayable lie penalty. I ended up with a double bogey there. I also had double pars on two of the other par 3s but made a par on the 4th, which was the one I played first. So +8 on the par 3s -- not good. OTOH, I did fairly well on the par 5s -- 2 pars, 2 bogeys.
Today's round was a lot better! I actually made a birdie on a par 4 -- my first since April. Excellent drive, great approach, easy 4 foot putt. Ended up with an 84. Still had too many bad tee shots but my recovery shots were pretty decent. The par 3s went a ton better today -- 2 pars, 2 bogeys -- and +1 on the two par 5s. Very unlucky on the 1st par 5. Hit a great approach shot that landed pin high on the green but bounced and ran 20 yards, stopping just short of a pond. Did well to get down in 3 from there. I was a little between clubs and picked the one I hit shorter. The other one would have been even longer.
The guesser says we'll get rain tomorrow so I mowed after golf. Really wouldn't want to let it go, get rain, and then deal with a hayfield.
Have a great week!
