Nice to hear things are gradually getting better on the course. Congrats on the birdie! Keep it going!!!
Smart move to get the grass cut today. With all the rain we have been getting lately, it is hard to time when to cut it. Factor in how inaccurate the weather clowns are, and you have quite a challenge. Sounds like Wednesday may be TG for you, or maybe even X Golf.
Toured two senior living facilities today to help my in laws find a new place to live. Both were nice, but one of them was way too expensive. Set up a tour for them at the other one on Saturday. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Interesting article on the cities the most people are moving out of. The article fails to mention it, but they all govern in the same way. Problem is when they move to cities that are successful and govern differently, they continue to vote for the style of politician they just abandoned.
it has been a slow process, but in February I started working on getting my weight back under control. By eating right and exercising regularly, I am at a reasonable weight again. Hoping to lose about 6 - 8 more pounds, which will take another month or two, but even if I don't, I am feeling really good again. As the saying goes, slow and steady wins the race.
Happy Tuesday!!!

Congrats on your progress! Losing weight is not easy.
For some reason, I was under the impression that they were heading to the same place your parents live. But great that you're narrowing it down and appear to be ready for when their home finally closes.
Yes, very interesting. It confirms what we've thought all along. There's a reason things don't go well. If you fail to learn from your mistakes, you're destined to repeat them.
I probably check out X-golf at some point but not likely during the season. I'd be inclined to save that for the winter during a cold stretch. Their virtual offerings appear to be a ton more robust than TG but I like being able to see the ball flight at TG in addition to the virtual information.
Yesterday, it became clear that the guesser whiffed on the rain forecast through late afternoon. So I hoofed it to a nearby course and walked 9. Apparently a lot of fools believed the guesser, so it wasn't busy and I played to balls all the way around. Made another 3 foot birdie on a par 5 and then rolled in 2 long putts (total 62 feet!) on the last to save a couple of strokes for an 83. I had a hot start -- 5 pars and a bogey -- but crashed back to earth on the difficlut 4th hole. Very happy with the turnaround in the game.
Today I went back to TG and got in some solid work. Tonight, I've been enjoying a replay of today's 1st round of the Memorial Tournament at Jack's place over in Dublin. I've never played the course but walked it a number of times during prior iterations. No plans to attend this year.
Have a great weekend!

You are definitely putting in all the necessary work and things seem better than they were last week. Hopefully you are turning the corner.
My parents place is too far from their my in law's doctors, although if they can't find another place, it will become an option. My wife also wants them a lot closer, even though my parents are only 20 minutes away. There is a phobia in St. Louis about crossing a river, and you cross the Missouri to get to my parents place. People seem to think if you cross a river you are going to the other end of the world. There aren't many openings in the good facilities and if there is one, you have to act fast.
Good NSA meeting today. Ended up taking the speaker back to the airport afterwards so I got some 1 on 1 time to ask my specific questions.
Have a wide open day Saturday so I plan on sleeping in and waiting to work out after I wake up. We will see how that works or if I wake up at 4:30 like I usually do.
Happy Friday!!!

Proximity to doctors would be pretty important. Never heard of that bridge phobia? But apparently it's a fairly common thing according to this article. I'm a straight line guy! I'm sure she'll find something suitable by the time they're able to move.
I guess it worked out well that you took the speaker to the airport. What a great opportunity and it sounds like you maxed it out!
Not at all unusual after playing well, today's round was a bit of a struggle in the middle. It's a course I played well last year but a couple of holes really bit me today. But it was still a good round b/c I had another birdie -- that's 3 this week! -- my approach on a par 4 from 117 yards landed 10 yards short and rolled just a foot beyond the pin! The ball couldn't have missed the hole by more than two inches. I'm liking how I'm hitting the irons right now.
Hope the weekend is going well!

I may have stated it poorly. It isn't a fear of going over bridges, but the perception that if you cross a river, you are traveling a long distance. I think it is a St. Louis thing.
Sounds like a productive week on the golf courses. Hope the birdies keep coming and that the bogeys are minimized. Definitely no doubles or triples. I am sure it is all coming together and you will have some amazing rounds to tell me about soon.
The annual airshow at Spirit of St. Louis airport is this weekend. As the crow flies, if it is sober, it is about 8 miles from my house so we are in the flight pattern as the planes circle and head towards the crowds. All week the skies have full of jets, bombers, and acrobatic aircraft. Several times the past three days the house has shook from the jets flying overhead. Been stepping outside occasionally to see them. Of course, the highlight every year is the Blue Angels. Been enjoying them since I was a kid.
My wife and I escaped for a bit tonight for dinner. Went to a Mexican Restaurant I hadn't been to since around 2008. Saw this video on the news the other day and decided to go back. Glad we did. It was excellent.
Happy Saturday!!!

Never heard of that perception before. Maybe b/c the Mississippi is so wide?
Definitely a treat to see all those planes and not have to leave your home!
That news clip sure presents Mi Lupita well! I can see why you were enticed to return! Makes me want to get some Mexican now. Well, I guess there is a new Taco Bell nearby . . . .
I had a pretty decent round today but still lost my match. I was 6 under my handicap with an 82 but my opponent went 10 under his h/c. Dang sandbagger! I'd have needed a 77 to win. I may get one yet this year but didn't have that kind of game today.
He had several putts that were screaming toward the hole and either hit the back of the cup or the pin square and dropped. A fraction of an inch to the left or right and he'd have been looking at 2 more shots to get down.
So I don't feel bad about losing this one. No triples but a double or two, including a terrible 3 putt (it felt like 4, but the first was from the fringe against the collar). I did manage a birdie on a par 5, hitting a good drive and FW wood, then getting to just under 10 feet short of the pin from 72 yards and draining the putt center cup - without hitting the back.
Have a great week!

Sounds like an excellent round today. Congrats. There is an old adage that you are playing against yourself, trying to be better than the last time. You definitely did that, and by quite a bit.
The only time I am happy with Taco Bell or White Castle is when I have several drinks in me.
Went to my 8 year old grandson's baseball game tonight. At that age, it is painful to watch. The good news is that he got a hot all three times he batted and the temp was in the low \70's. It was also my granddaughter's 10th birthday so we had a little celebration as well. Her official party was this past Sunday though.
Great news on the Senior Living front!!! Received a call yesterday from the facility we liked the most out of the one's we toured and they had an unexpected opening. My wife and I were there within an hour to reserve it before anyone else so my in laws may be out by the end of the month. Hallelujah!!!
By the end of the month, I should move up to #10 in the St. Louis standings. MarMacMal has been parked for a while and unless he comes back, I will pass him the last few days of the month.
Happy Tuesday!!!

Ended up at Taco Bell the other night. It was pretty good! They have some new chicken taco that is made on the equivalent of a panini press. Not gonna be a staple but I'll be back.
The only way to make little kids games bearable that I've found is to take a camera. But the problem with that is you have to process the pics . . . .
Congrats on securing a spot! I know from your post in the CBUS thread that you've gone over there and measured the space. So maybe until they're gone, you can break away to help with their impending move!
Early congrats on the move up the local rankings!
Been to TG a couple more times this week but not to a course. Continuing work on my irons and fw woods and am seeing some improvement in distance, accuracy and consistency. Still a ways to go but liking the direction.
The guessers are beside themselves over a hot weather pattern that should get here tomorrow and stay all week. Anticipating that it's going to be brutal for a week or so, I mowed today, raising my blade to 5", which is a high setting. Everything's still green and I'm hoping to get out in front of the hot dry spell and preserve moisture and avoid damage. A sprinkler system really isn't something I can do where I live, so I have to manage it other ways.
I've been enjoying the US Open. My favorite players are not doing so well, but Bryson DeChambeau is leading and he's turned himself around from being unlikeable to actually coming off personable. I think he's got an engineering background and he studies the physics of the interaction of clubs and balls. Amazing stuff, really. Oh, Tiger Woods missed the cut by 2 strokes. He played a ton better than he did at the PGA but with his limited schedule and damaged 48 year old body, he's just not sharp enough to compete with the young guys who have modeled much of their game after him. He was a bit delusional in a post game presser, saying he thought he was playing well enough to be competitive. Um, Tiger, the score says you weren't competitive. It would have been a different story if he'd hit more greens and made more putts -- but that's what he used to do but isn't doing now. I'm sure it must be hard for him to accept, especially considering that he lost over 10 years of his career due to self inflicted injuries and problems.
Hope the weekend's going great!

We are due for the same hot weather you are getting. There is an agenda behind making it sound like Armageddon. I did add an extra day to my sprinklers running. Was doing M-W-F. Added Sunday.
We talked about it before, and even regarding Tiger. Star athletes have a hard time leaving their sport when they are just starting to decline and hang on way too long. I am guessing that ego plays a huge role in that. As a result, they tarnish what they accomplished because of the inevitable decline.
What would you do without TG? It has been a huge tool in your improvement the past couple years.
Interesting opportunity fell into my lap this week. Was contacted by someone who heard about my AI presentations and he wanted to conduct a joint workshop. He has an IT background and has a different set of AI skills than I do so we complement each other well. It gets even better. He owns a local playhouse in a central location that seats 250 people that we can use, His mailing list for the playhouse is over 3,500 people, and the marquee outside of the playhouse is in a high traffic area. Add that to my network, and it has a lot of potential. We will talk again Wednesday to firm po details and make a go - no go decision.
The paperwork has been signed and we can start moving furniture in next weekend. We were going to try to move my in laws in a few days later but they said it was too soon. Hopefully we can prod them a bit to move sooner rather than later.
Both my parents has some health issues the last few days. Nothing overly major with my mom, just a bruise and small scrape, but my dad is not doing well. They adjusted his meds Friday and will reevaluate him on Monday. Heading over to see them tomorrow for Father's Day.
Hope you have an enjoyable Father's Day!

I think it's part agenda and part just that so many people are unprepared to deal with heat today. I sure didn't spend more time outside after 4 and a half hours on the golf course today but if I had to work an 8 hour shift, I could have. Just would have needed more water and sunscreen.
There's an element of wanting to stay in the limelight that may be tied to ego but, at the same time, it's almost like a dependency on the cheering fans. And they certainly cheered his lousy play.
What a great idea pairing up with someone with complementary information! Hope it works out!
Congrats on getting things sealed up. It's gone on for quite some time but they'll be in their new place before you know it. Or not . . . .
Sorry your parents are having issues. They are in my thoughts and prayers.
TG has been a great asset. There are driving ranges and places virtual golf options. I know of a couple of courses that have indoor virtual golf bays now open year round. But TG is such a deal! So glad they got the virtual tech installed here!
I played in the heat the past two days, both times in the morning. I had 2 birdies yesterday, one traditional, one chip in. Otherwise, I played sort of meh. That continued today without the birdies though I managed to play bogey golf, which I'd have been thrilled with 2 years ago at this course.
We had a pop up storm yesterday afternoon that ruined the guesser's afternoon. It was like a balloon burst and the temps fell into the 70s while it rained and only bounced back to the low 80s. It was hilarious when one of them said, "This won't happen every day." The CBUS library system is opening longer hours and even opening 4 branches for limited hours on Wednesday's holiday. The only services will be a/c and WiFi.
Getting ready for a meeting tonight.
Hope the week is going well!

Bogey golf isn't really bad at all. Like you said, two years ago you would have been thrilled with that. Big difference between TG and real courses, even though you can work on your swing at TG. By the end of summer you will be doing far better than bogey golf.
With the rain comes the humidity too. Of course, it is supposed to be hot this time of year. That coming from a person that works out every day in a 125 degree sauna. Besides, this is far better than freezing cold.
My new La Z Boy recliner arrived today. The one on my side of the bed was no longer comfortable. Called the trash company and they will pick up the old one for free on Thursday. We can get rid of two bulky items a week as long as we call ahead of time.
Today was my day to celebrate Father's Day with my children. My son took me to Cracker Barrel (my choice) for lunch. My daughter took me to one of the finer restaurants in St. Louis, Annie Gunn's. Had the 6 ounce filet. Almost lost them in 1993 when the whole valley was flooded, but they came back strong. The army corps of engineers played God after that and ensured the Chesterfield Valley would never flood again, shifting flood waters to other properties that were not considered to n=be in the flood plain before.
Happy Tuesday!!!

That's pretty reasonable for getting rid of stuff. Here, there's no limit but furniture has to be wrapped. Easy to do with those rolls of wrap the movers use.
I imagine you passed on the ribeye as a nod to staying with a diet plan. Can't go wrong with a filet.
I was at TG yesterday morning early. It felt kinda hot but not too bad. One of my favorite managers dropped by my bay and I asked if people were whining about the heat and he said they were. I commented that I'd much prefer what we had today to the single digit temps back in January! He agreed wholeheartedly!
Today, I saw that a nearby course wasn't too busy, so I went over and got right on. Took a cart and got around in 2:30. I played through 3 groups, not having to wait at all until the last 3 holes. Forturnately there was shade near each tee and with no one behind me, I let the group get fairly far ahead before teeing off.
I played fairly well, expecially on the back 9, which went in 41, including 2 birdies separated by a double bogey, another time that I failed to clear a stream. I had an 87 which is one of my top scores on that track. I couldn't carry the water on the par 3s on the front. On one, my shot had enough distance except it sliced toward the longest angle over the water and I came up a little short. On the other, my ball skipped but they have a wooden wall and it slamed into that and bounced back into the drink.
Probably head back to TG tomorrow.
Have a great weekend

Looks like you are gaining some consistency in your game coupled with some good rounds. Keep it going!
Give me summer heat over winter cold every day! You are spot on!!!
Enjoy TG on Friday.
Took the new lens out for a test drive today. Did not go as well as I hoped. The Osprey were not very active or off too far in the distance so good shots were hard to come by. There is also a learning curve on handling this lens so i had to work on technique a bit. Fortunately, the guy shooting with me has the same lens and gave me several tips that will speed up the learning curve. I did come away with a few pictures I liked though and am excited about how this lens will help up my game. May go out again one morning this weekend.
Was supposed to be a panelist for a global AI workshop tomorrow but that fell through. I told them up front that the only time I could not be there was from noon till 1:00 central time. Of course, the person in charge forgot when making the schedule and had me on from 12:30 - 1:30. He apologized but cannot change the schedule. I could probably get out of my previous commitment, but out of principle I am not. I was not getting paid to be on this panel and although the exposure would have been nice, I do not need it.
The house sale for my in laws is supposed to close tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed.

If the outfit running the show is that sloppy, you probably wouldn't want to be associated with them anyway. Not a reason for you to break another committment.
Sounds like the new lens will take a little work to figure out but it's gonna produce some great pics!
Had a good session at TG, even though it was really hot. They have oscillating fans every two bays and it was shady at the table - I made sure I didn't get there before the sun was past the overhang. So I took more breaks than normal. Still got a lot of good work in.
Taking it pretty easy today. May go over to a nearby course an chip and putt. May not. Tentatively getting together with some friends for dinner tonight. Could mow, but it's way to hot for that and I don't want to damage the turf. My plan to keep it green by raising the blade did the job this week. The other lawns in my development are showing varying degrees of stress.
Had to laugh at the weatherguesseer last night. He was talking about the heat advisory that we've been under since Monday at noon. He said it was going to last, "All the way until Saturday." Dude -- that's today! Whoever put the story together must have just copied the same text they used earlier in the week without thinking.
You probably remember Cedar Point? They were in the news yesterday. Apparently, some guy dropped his keys while riding a roller coaster. After his ride ended, he must have jumped two security fences to reach the ride area, hellbent on recovering his keys. Yep, the moron got hit by the coaster. And now, through his lawyer, he's claiming that they need better security and signs everywhere telling people to stay the hell out. Human kind is not going to make it.
Have a great weekend!

Everything closed and the money has made it to their bank account. Monday, the movers come to take furniture and the larger items to their new AL apartment. The plan is then to move them in a week or two after that.
Definitely a better option to go to TG in this heat rather than be out on the course. I pass several golf courses as I go about town and of course, even when the heat index was 100+, I saw people on the courses playing. Some things I will never understand.
As far as the guy and the roller coaster, I heard the story as well. Really hope his family loses the lawsuit. I wouldn't mind if the deceased man receives a Darwin Award though. We need natural selection like this to weed out some of the morons that walk among us. Same with the golfers I saw playing in 100+ degree heat indexes.
Just came home from a really rough visit to the grocery store. My dad's 90th birthday is on the fourth and I was picking out a birthday card for him and realized it was the last birthday card I will ever be buying for him. Got a little emotional trying to find the perfect card. We are all getting together at my parents AL place on his birthday for cake and ice cream. They have two rooms you can reserve at no charge for family events.
My AI presentation to the Society of Human Resource Managers (SHRM) on Tuesday went exceptionally well. I did a cheap shameless plug for the half day AI workshop I am conduction in August and several are planning on attending.
Happy Thursday!!!
