The construction of the new SheetZ in Clarion just off I-80 is continuing but so far it appears they're just moving dirt. It's funny how last July the Clarion & Barkeyville construction was dead even as both were razing hotels. In fact I gave a day or two edge to Clarion and now Barkeyville will open this week or next week and Clarion hasn't started construction.
The new locally owned UK super truck stop convenience store which was originally a 76 truck stop back in the day is really looking good. I just found this article from last month. www.exploreclarion.com/local/2024/10/24/the-truck-stops-here-uk-travel-plaza-focuses-on-professional-drivers-well-being-829879/

I loved the comments to the article and this one pretty much sums it up.
"So they don't want competition seems to be the bottom line."

I also found an article updating SheetZ' recent expansion in the central Ohio area. The most recent opening was in Lancaster, SE of C-Bus. I was down there last week to play golf, but did not know about the station then.
It also reports on the store that's opening in the C-Bus suburb called Gahanna at a spot just NE of Space Man Airport as well as others that are in the works:
www.nbc4i.com/news/local-news/fairfield-county/sheetz-continues-expansion-with-new-central-ohio-gas-station/
They already have 2 stores west of the airport, one nearly adjacent to the NE corner and another 2 miles west. Both are just off I-670, which runs from I-70 on the near west side of town thru downtown, past the airport and then merges into the outerbelt, I-270, on the NE side of town.
The SheetZ nearest the airport, quite tragically, displaced Go Go Gyro Grill. I'd never been but always smiled when I passed it while driving by on the freeway! I do not remember any protests when that store was being planned!

Thanks, that was good stuff to read.
So Ohio seems to be accepting SheetZ as opposed to Michigan.
