I never even thought about that as it's been that way forever. I'm sure SheetZ will look into that in the future as they've always kept up with technology. If you could pay at the touchscreen that might create some problems with people that weren't ordering MTO food using it to check out and causing delays for people who want a hoagie.
Beginning in 1996, the paper ordering system was phased out in favor of a picture-based touchscreen computer system. Now common at many restaurants and gas stations worldwide, SheetZ was the first company to implement this technology that has been very successful.
Their store in DuBois tested ordering food at the pump many years ago but it didn't last long. The idea was to order and pay for your food at the pump and by the time you finished filling up your order would be ready
The Clarion Travel Plaza which has had a soft opening since mid July is officially selling fuel almost two years after they broke ground. At $3.49 it's the same price as most other stations.
I also learned from customer service that the new truck stop SheetZ under construction is scheduled to open in December but we know it will open earlier as they usually post the latest possible date for opening.
BTW I'll give details next post but I had an issue with a beggar at SheetZ in Ephrata last Tuesday and that's why I contacted SheetZ CS. Their gas was just $3.09 with my SheetZ loyalty card

It shouldn't be too difficult to make it that only those people ordering food can pay at those kiosks.

Before it gets buried any further in the thread, I wanted to repost HotSkel's report about the poor reception SheetZ is receiving in the Detroit metro area: Not today
Bet they do that again, though.
But they didn't do it July 4th of this year. Maybe They're skipping a year to catch up. My brother sent me an article about SheetZ in Michigan. He moved to Florida two years ago but lived in the Detroit area for 44 years as he has his own department at Ford's World headquarters in Dearborn.
The local party store owners are trying to stop SheetZ's plan to build stores in Michigan and have had some success. The articles unfortunately have a pay wall but here's part of one.
A group of gas station owners recently told Crain’s they don’t see the need for Sheetz in Michigan. In Livonia early this year, the Planning Commission shot down a rezoning request for a Sheetz at Five Mile and Newburgh roads. Livonia City Council following the rezoning recommendation has held public hearings related to Sheetz, but has not had a formal vote. The Fraser Planning Commission axed a plan for a new Sheetz site at 14 Mile and Utica roads, according to The Oakland Press, which also reported that Sheetz halted plans on proposed locations in Rochester Hills at Rochester Road and South Boulevard and Waterford Township on Dixie Highway near Sashabaw Road. The Van Buren Township Planning Commission at a July 10 meeting tabled a vote on a proposed Sheetz at Ecorse and Haggerty roads. In the latest news, a public hearing is scheduled on November 21 re Sheetz' proposed 24-hour station in Farmington Hills. The site was the home of the former Ginopolis Restaurant for 37 years.

A group of independent gas station owners doesn't see a place for rival gas and convenience store chain Sheetz in Michigan, and some are pushing back in communities where the out-of-state chain is looking to expand.
The local business owners say they believe the Pennsylvania-based company's new 24/7 stores could bring more crime to the areas where it plans to set up shop, and they worry that Sheetz entering the market could spell the end for scores of independent operators.

Scott Barbat under his Birmingham-based The Barbat Organization owns and operates 14 gas stations across Southeast Michigan, including two near a proposed Sheetz site in Farmington Hills at 12 Mile and Middlebelt roads. Barbat said Sheetz being a 24-hour operation is his biggest concern, as he feels the late-night hours could lead to some less-than-ideal situations.
“That area of 12 Mile and Middlebelt is a ghost town,” Barbat said. “12 Mile and Orchard Lake is a busy spot and probably where Sheetz should be. Sheetz is desperate to get into the market and you can tell by some of the sites they’re proposing. At one point, all 14 of my stores were open 24 hours. Now it’s maybe one or two and one is right by a police station in Grosse Pointe. Nothing is open 24 hours anymore. Flies come to the light. That’s gonna happen.”

First they ban truckers now ducks. The previous post sets up this one. I posted what follows in the Did you buy? thread the other day. Came across a very unusual story. Apparently a guy has been banned from going to any Buc-ees for life after taking his emotional support duck inside the chain's largest store just east of Knoxville:FWIW, that's an incredibly well behaved duck!

I drove by the new SheetZ that's being built in Barkeyville right at exit 29 off I-80 last week. Not a whole lot of outside progress from the previous week as I'm sure they're getting the inside completed. The curbing is in and you can now see how massive the trucker parking lot is going to be. It looks like they will be ready to pave the lot in a couple of weeks. They are planning for a December grand opening.
The new UK travel Plaza that will be part of Pilot right at exit 70 of I-80 is really taking shape. He has a huge crew working on it everyday. Just the other day there were 3 large dump trucks on the lot and the entrance was cleared of all the old concrete and new concrete was poured. A second set of fuel pumps have been installed as the first set had already been installed under the old canopy.
Finally, if the new Clarion Travel Plaza exit 62 doesn't do something soon like install two billboards on I-80 they won't be around long. The place is empty despite having 5 restaurants and a huge food court. Bottom line is that nobody outside of locals know they exist and they're on the South side of I-80 and invisible from the Interstate while everything else is on the North side

What the duck is going on? They think SheetZ will put them out of business. Don't the party stores make most of their money from alcohol sales? SheetZ will only sell beer & wine

I made a quick check of the new SheetZ being built in Barkeyville and there was a lot of progress. There's a second entrance from RT8 under construction and a cement island to separate the lanes is already in place. It looks like they're very close to paving the parking lot. Grand opening is scheduled for next month

I had a reward offer pop up when I posted prices for a SheetZ today. First it asked for personal information that I chose to skip. Then it offered a selection of 6 different types of potential rewards, such as BJs Wholesale and SiriusXM, and asked me to choose two. None appealed to me, so I stopped there.
The reward was a $30 value from something called NIFT. No Idea For That? Probably not it. Anyway, it's the first time I can remember SheetZ partnering with GB. Would much rather they do a 500 point survey or maybe a 1,000 point app challenge. Maybe that's in the works!
