It turns out Kraft got caught in a net targeting an alleged human trafficking operation along with some 200 others. This story says he visited the Jupiter, FL location twice. The 77 year old billionaire has not been arrested -- yet -- but a warrant has been issued. His attorneys issued the type of statement attorneys always issue when their client is guilty as hell but has the means to pay tons of legal bills, stating that they: Has a rich guy has ever been arrested for anything without issuing a good ole categorical denial of wrongdoing? That statement is just the first play from the "Filthy Rich Guilty Guy Playbook." So far, the Patriots' Solicitors' coach, Bill Bellichick, has apparently made no comment about his boss' predicament. Upon hearing the news, he likely displayed either his concerned or his confused look:

A news report says Pats' owner was allowed to skip a court appearance this week and has requested a trial by jury on the charges he's facing in Florida. The story also says the NFL is going to wait for the legal issues to play out before deciding about any league imposed discipline. I get why he rejected the deal and decided to make the prosecution prove it's case. In court -- unlike the real world -- he's entitled to a presumption of innocence and can afford an incredible legal team. It's going to be one of the highest priced defenses ever made for this sort of thing. That's also his right. But however the trial comes out, he still went to that spa and it doesn't exactly look like the type of place a guy of Bob Kraft's stature is going to hang out. If he loses the trial, I'd guess the NFL will really bring the hammer down. Even if he wins, they've got to do something.

A couple of days ago, I saw a story that said there's no evidence that the women, who were allegedly servicing Kraft and the other Johns, were involved in a human trafficing network. That was the original reason given for the bust.

Today, a story from Florida says that the prosecutor in the Kraft case is on the verge of releasing the video of Kraft and the other Johns allegedly paying for services. Think of it as a video replay of a key play. The house Madam is seeking to block the release of the video pending her trial. I bet she gets some help with her legal fees in that part of her case!

It occurs to me that "Bob Kraft and the Johns" would be a good name for a rock band!

Interesting. Still begs the question, why does Kraft have to visit a house of ill repute? He didn't have to. Certainly he could (and likely wishes he had chosen to) hire a $5,000/night call girl any time he gets the, um, urge.

What gets me about all of this is the league busts the chops of the players when this stuff happens yet when an owner goes south like this, nothing is done. The owners should be setting the example for the players and should be disciplined like the players. Kraft should be suspended and fined.

Dumping AB was the wisest move for the Patriots. Such a loser. The only winner was the Steelers who got 2 picks from the Raiders. Biggest loser was the Raiders.

I saw Bill B's presser this am following last night's surprising 20-13 loss to Tennessee, in which the Patriots were shut out in the 2nd half. I'm not a fan but I give him credit for coming to the podium having done his homework, anticipating what the reporters are likely to ask about, and setting expectations in his opening remarks and then following through. I'm sure many who dislike Bill and/or the Pats will find it simply vintage Bill. And it is. He said it's less than 12 hours since the loss, that he'd been locked in on Tennessee until the end of the game and that he had nothing to say about the future at the presser, deferring comment until they had a chance to look at the future "collectively." That didn't stop a moronic reporter from asking a question about the future and 3 followups. Bill responded the same to all of them, repeating what he'd initially said in Readers' Digest format at first and then saying, "Same answer." Frankly, he shouldn't be speculating about the future. What he probably could have said was that, right now, after a Wildcard round loss, management is about a month ahead of the schedule they'd planned on for figuring out the future. He did say that, "fortunately or unfortunately -- however you wanted to look at it -- they have more time" to figure things out.
