Representative of the Alumni Association was handing out annual reports from the College of Engineering, Department of Electrical Engineering, and Department of Computer Science. When I was there, they didn't have an undergraduate Department of Computer Science but I took as many software courses as my Electrical Engineering advisor would let me take. No more than two, those who took software courses tended to spend most of their waking hours in the computer center. I was surprised they didn't ask me to increase my $25 a month pledge. Although I did ask, "Are you getting the match from Boeing, that's another $12.50 a month?" She said she'd look into it.
Haven't yet seen physical therapist today but I think they have another hour in the workday.
Phone just rang but my cell phone has a SPAM detector on it so I looked at the screen and didn't pick it up.

Hopefully the home PT is going well, sneakers. $25/month sounds very generous to me. They'd be wise not to rock that boat!

They put a bigger post-op shoe on my right foot. The old one had my four remaining right foot toes sticking out the front. They should be happy with $25 a month and they probably know the retired are on a fixed income.

So sneakers, I guess your roommate is taking you to PT now? Or some other arrangement? I wonder if that shoe was an attempt to give you the feeling of still having a big toe? That's the only thing I can come up with to explain the design.

So sneakers, I guess your roommate is taking you to PT now? Or some other arrangement? I wonder if that shoe was an attempt to give you the feeling of still having a big toe? That's the only thing I can come up with to explain the design. I was in the hospital for chest pain and shortness of breath from about seven o'clock Tuesday evening to 6:30 Friday night. Housemate arrived and I still had an IV in my right hand. Walked up to the nurses' station. They set me down in a wheelchair and DCed my IV. They wheeled me to the front door and I called my housemate, who then pulled in the loading and unloading zone with the Tundra. Then we came home. Housemate stopped at a C-store to get some Busch. Woman had a flat tire and a bad jack. Rather than have her wait for AAA, my housemate changed out her spare. I commented about how quick he did it. The home health therapist had a session of physical therapy here Saturday afternoon. It was mostly chair wiggling. I got to do a couple of exercises standing up and I had to balance on the back of the chair. Right knee is not good, next step for that is more physical therapy. Both knees were popping as I went up and down. Next home physical therapy is Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock.
This morning, I slept about five and a half hours and got up to watch the morning news. Fell asleep on the living room sofa. Housemate turned off TV. I turned TV back on and fell asleep. Housemate turned off TV and took remote.
I'm now awake and watching FOX NFL Sunday in the business room. Their pundit said the Seattle Seahawks (four wins so far) will beat the Houston Texans (two wins so far). We'll find out in about fifteen minutes.

I saw the Seattle/Houston score during the Browns/Ravens game that I watched while lifting yesterday. It looked like Seattle was winning big. I've onot been a Browns fan for 25 years or so -- it was kind of comedic the way they almost blew a 24-6 halftime lead.
I hope the PT helps, sneakers. Good luck!

Had a nurse come by Monday afternoon to evaluate my foot wound. She commented that whoever did the last bandaging did a good job. I claimed credit for my handiwork.
She also gave me some stretches to help relieve the pain in my right shoulder that didn't make sense as being cardiac in nature.
We've had our share of medical problems. First me in the hospital last week. Then this past weekend my housemate's 16-year-old son managed to give himself food poisoning with his own cooking. My housemate was glad that I didn't eat any of it. I don't eat things where I don't know how long they've been out of the refrigerator.
Housemate was feeling bad about dark tonight. He took his blood pressure and found it was 143-104. That's "you really should go to the ER" territory. Last I heard from him was they did a batch of lab work. Talked to him, he sounded very groggy. If he was in a room he could easily go to sleep. HCA Houston Clear Lake Hospital has a bullpen full of recliners where you wait for a room and he's a fan of going there. Personally, I'm a fan of Houston Methodist Clear Lake Hospital. Plenty of ER space and they're expanding the ER area. Only once did they park me in a chair to undergo therapy. Most of my doctors are on-staff there. My internist is not but he'll send me over there for my other doctors. My internist was overwhelmed when he saw my pill box. I told him that I had multiple bottles of several types of pills because my hospitalists send me home with a 14-day to 30-day supply of medication. Last time I had eight duplicate bottles of pills and one new one.

Sounds like you're getting great care, sneakers. Well done dodging food poisoning.
That BP rate would be concerning, especially the 104. 140 on the higher number was considered normal not so long ago. But it's all relative to what's typical for each person. Hopefully they got it down and found a cause. BP meds can be nasty.

Had a bunch of medical attention this afternoon.
First medical professional was an at-home physical therapist. He had me do a bit more than last time. The chair wiggles were easy. The standing stuff was tiring. He comes back tomorrow (he is taking off Thursday and Friday).
Second medical professional was my podiatrist. He did a bit of debridement on my surgical wound. He said it looked good. I wasn't moving around that good. They offered me a walker but I turned it down and didn't have much trouble.
It was five o'clock by the time I got done. Went out and got Jack in the Box on the way home.

Sounds like if you're getting around w/o a walker, you're doing well.
PT really depends on the therapist. Some are a little more aggressive than others and some patients are more receptive to being pushed than others. Their protocols are designed to avoid injuring a pt.
I've never had Jack in the Box. It's not a thing here.

Out running errands today. Escape really needed an oil change. It also needed gas and I filled up at Costco for $2.599/gallon. May go out and eat lunch but I had a couple of Hershey bars with almonds to tide me over. Last stop will be HEB Pharmacy. Intend to get one or two vaccinations but don’t know which I can have when.

There was a huge issue square to this thread's topic. Apparently someone got the bright idea to use a social media platform (I won't name it) to urge kids to call in threats to schools on Friday all across the country to try to get an extra day of Christmas/winter break. Not smart, especially on the heels of the fiasco several weeks ago in the state up north.

They need to throw the books at people like that to make an example of them.

I'd bet whoever came up with it wasn't dumb enough to actually make a threat -- they just sat back and watched others do it. You'd hope that by now kids would understand that saying you were joking won't cut it, as that is equally true for many things that are considered bullying today. So they should know better.

Had telemedicine session with my pdoc a few weeks ago. She kept me on all my existing medications. Still having foot problems. Have appointment with podiatrist Friday morning. He ordered an MRI last month. Siemens MRI made all sorts of clicks and buzzes. Laid there for two hours listening to clicks and buzzes. Sometimes, they have piped-in music from headphones but not on this one. One of the buzzing sequences sounded just like the beginning of ZZ Top's "Tush."
Went to gastroenterologist a week ago tomorrow. The next morning, I had some clinical lab work. Main thing you can figure out from my clinical lab work is I have 67-year-old kidneys. Also mildly anemic. Main thing gastroenterologist was looking for was celiac disease. Found out that I'm not gluten intolerant.
Temperature got up to 101 today. Heat Advisory. Ozone Action Day because it was sunny. ERCOT Interconnection had a Conservation Alert. Local ABC affiliate had a blackout hit in the three o'clock hour, they had their backup generators come on but there was a few seconds of darkness when they were doing the three o'clock weather guess. The Conservation Alert runs to nine o'clock tonight. Tomorrow, they're saying 92 with a 40% chance of thunderstorms. Things are cooling down, may have to turn off the ceiling fan here in the business room.
