I have put my bird feeders back up yesterday. I have a few showing up, but it will take a while to get traffic like before.
The hummingbirds are hitting both nectar feeders, as well as the one next door.

Since the price of sunflower hearts has gone way up, I switched to mixing about 1/3 sunflower to 2/3 safflower. The birds are gobbling it up.

The birds continue to be gluttons. The feeders are going empty by evening almost everyday. And the hummingbirds are taking the nectar level down quickly too.

Still very busy at the feeders. The woodpeckers are starting to show a bit more often now. Or maybe I am just watching the feeders at the right time. The hummingbirds are still drinking down the nectar like before. More juveniles showing up now.

The feeding frenzy has slowed slightly. Just a little longer between refills on the seed feeders. The hummingbirds are still very active on both my two feeders and the one next door.

The hummingbirds have been very active; the others not as much. I will be watching to see if the upcoming cool down in weather changes anything.

My cousin from Davenport, IA tells me that dark-eyed juncos have already showed up there. That is really early, and might be a sign of an early winter. I usually don't see them in southern MN until about mid-October.

The hummingbirds have been moving on, but one appeared at my next door neighbor's feeder last evening. The feeders will stay up for about another week to help any late ones that pass through.
I have been watching for juncos, but none here yet. I wonder if cousin made a wrong id.

There were several hummingbirds at the feeders today. Maybe these are passing through. All have been female or non mature birds. (All green)

One hummingbird at the feeder shortly after 7 AM. The sightings are fewer though in recent days.

My last hummingbird sighting was the morning of October 5th. I left the feeders up just in case a straggler comes through, but will be taking these down next week.

I saw the first Dark Eyed Junco on the 15th. A few more have appeared in the last few days.

The birds have sure been showing up at my feeders since there has been snow on the ground. Mostly sparrows, finches, and dark-eyed juncos, with a woodpecker now and then. I had to chase starlings away a few days ago. Lucky for me, they haven't come back yet. Now, the snow has mostly disappeared, so the traffic at the feeders is a bit less.

Yes, I am still feeding the birds. There is now about a foot of snow on the ground, so the birds are drawn to the feeders like a magnet.

The snow depth is a little less than before, thanks to the low 30's we have had. The birds still like coming to the feeders, and I expect to see many tomorrow as a storm prepares to come through.
