Good Sunday Afternoon, All.
Sneakers, For you, writing "HOT" in capital letters would probably translate into "Scorching Heat Stroke Alert" here! Looks like Ed and I will be sharing the cool lake breezes this week. We're less than 300 miles apart I think, although it would be a lot less if that big lake didn't get in the way. I hope Cousin Martha's remission continues. She sounds like a good person! Have fun on your midnight "explorations" around the rehab center, and happy to see you're mobile.
Hello, soutxed. That should be interesting to see the MLB game in Williamsport tonight. The Yankees forgot how to play the game last night and got shut out. Maybe it will come back to them tonight. Church went well this morning, although attendance was way down, probably because of the County Fair, which is the town's biggest event. Just about everyone had to wear two hats, to cover the duties of those who were absent. I got to usher, read, and count the collection. Things should getting back to normal soon, as vacations and events wind down. The local college had move-in day yesterday, which added to the County Fair traffic, made for a busy day on the roads (for our small town at least). That must be exciting for the kids, when they see Mom & Dad driving away. What's a BD Lunch? Hope Crazy Lady doesn't embarrass you.
Hi, Uncle. I wonder what happens to retired school buses. I suppose some get a second life in needy countries. And I've seen some really creative motor homes. Maybe churches and summer camps could use them. People were telling me in church this morning that they had bad storms overnight, with lots of trees down. I barely remember waking up and hearing some thunder off in the distance, and going back to sleep.

HOT in capital letters is a temperature in triple digits, and a “feels like” temperature about ten degrees warmer. Martha takes medication to keep her in remission and she has periodic PET scans to check for a recurrence. She is definitely a chatterbox, set aside a half hour for your phone calls to her. I have been adventurous, I went to the pop machine three times today. Two Diet Dr Pepper bottles and one of Diet Coke. The pop machine is unusual here, I have never seen one like before. It has a bottle catcher that moves in the X and Y axes to bring the bottle to a release point. Then, it slides the bottle to where you pick it up. It’s designed not to shake the bottle up a lot. Sounds like most everyone was at the County Fair. Retired school buses frequently turn up as church buses. Some of the churches leave them largely unpainted from their school bus origins. AJ is going to bring me some clothes later today. He went in my room, took my grabber, and threw them in a basket to wash and dry. I have been on the infused first IV for a while. The nurse needs to come in and start the second one for the day.

soutxed, my bus had about 133,000 miles back in June. I'm sure it has at least 10,000 more on it now. It has been well maintained, so I don't mind it. The Astros are 9 and 1 in their last ten. This is the right time of the season to be winning. lorando (NW PA), an old bus would probably go to an area that doesn't have such a restriction. My company had bus routes in may parts of Alberta, as well as Saskatchewan, Ontario and Nova Scotia. The only time we've had new buses in my city, was back in 2015. It might have been part of the new contract then. Take care everyone.

Good Monday Morning, All.
Hello, Uncle. I'm looking forward to this week, with cooler temps, sunshine, and not much on the calendar. Yesterday seemed like there was an overload of sports, with MLB, NFL, NASCAR, etc. all competing for time. Plus locally the Annual Stone-Skipping Festival was on Saturday. (You won't see that on ESPN) . An Ontarioan came in second place this year. The winner was from Japan, and third place went to a Pennsylvanian. Two other Japanese skippers, one from Scotland, also competed in the pro division. Who would have thought something we did as kids to waste time would get so scientific. The paper said that although many of the stones came from Lake Erie, the pros brought their own. That would probably make for an interesting conversation at the airport baggage check. I wonder if anyone actually dives in the next day to recover the good ones?
Hi, Sneakers - Yep, it's that time of year with the County Fair, the Stone Skipping event, the college move-in, and quite a few seasonal residents closing up their summer houses and camps, and heading back to Pittsburgh for the start of school. Plus the locals are coming back from their vacations. It won't be long until high school football, leaves turning, cider and donuts, and maple syrup tapping time. Nature has a comfortable rhythm. Speaking of comfortable rhythms, you must be in the second half of your infusion treatments now. Sounds like you're falling into a relaxed routine too. That sounds like an interesting soda dispenser. It's probably a lot quieter than the normal ones too, without the clattering of cans or bottles, but plastic bottles don't exactly clatter, do they?
Mornin', soutxed. That was a good game at the Little League Classic (A little overdone IMO, but I turned off the sound) I felt bad that neither starting pitcher got the win. Tarik Skubal and Marcus Strohman were both on top of their games. How long can the Yankees send out Holmes, their closer, after blowing 10 saves this year (so far)? I'm happy Detroit is doing well, since their Double A team plays in Erie, and they get a lot of local coverage. Hope you and Mrs. soutxed have a great week!

Had all my supper items tasty tonight.
Had my second IV late in the afternoon and early evening. Just got disconnected.
Nurse came in, replaced my pull-up (it had seen better days), and put an anti microbial cream on the rash areas.
watched the 9:00 PM CW39 News and the 10:00 PM KPRC Channel 2 news, then fell asleep.
Morning nurse got me in the shower, the last one I got was in July. I am all broke out with a rash on my sit spots.
Sitting up in a wheelchair in a hospital gown with nothing on underneath.

Lorando--Didn't know you had a college/university in your small town. Do the students make a difference in traffic, economy, etc? Yankees lost on a close play at the plate in the bottom of the inning. Made for exciting game.
Sneakers--Guess somebody thinks everyone should have eggs. When mom, who was diabetic, got desert in the nursing home, it was always Jello. SIL and family had one of their chidren get them Dish TV. But when BIL dementia got bad and he just watched one channel all day, she had the Satellite disconnected. After he passed, the son hooked up a low budget version of Dish network. No sports channels and only CNN news. But several Spanish networks. Hope Martha stays with her medications.
Uncle--I see a few unusual uses for school buses, but often see them being towed into Mexico and from there who knows. I few churches bought used school buses. Oddly, the RCC is dominate here but none of them have vans or school buses to bring those who don't drive to mass. Astros back to winning ways. HS football starts Thursday.
Have a meeting tonight about working the games. See what that is about.
Crazy lady behaved and two couples paid for her meal. She spent some of the time complaining the city is putting in sewer lines so no more septic tanks. But she is worried about the cost of sewer every month plus hook up cost. She is wondering if she can refuse it. Also, the increase in taxes on the house as it is in son's name but she has to pay taxes.
Wife feeling better but trying to get into doctor today before we go to Corpus Christi tomorrow.

Had breakfast, ate everything but the eggs. I don’t know why Dietary puts them on my plate. They honor the “no coffee” instructions but not the one for “no eggs.” Rather stupid in my opinion. Fraud, waste, and abuse (or at least waste).
Up in the wheelchair. Just shifted sit spots.
Taxable brokerage account up 0.32% today. Coca-Cola was down $0.52 a share despite me enjoying a Diet Coke this afternoon.
TV is on KPRC Channel 2 and I can’t find the remote to change channels or turn it off. Last place I saw it was in my bed. But when the staff last stripped the bed the remote went AWOL.
Second IV of the two daily IVs has finished.
Ate everything for lunch and supper. Supper was particularly good. Chicken, broccoli, rice, and cheese casserole; carrots; cinnamon apples; and iced tea.
Had a blood draw after the shower and breakfast.
Rash in the diaper area. After the shower, the nurse applied powder and cream medication.
AJ is having a sad day today. Today is the first anniversary of the death of Danielle, his longtime girlfriend. He was the one who discovered the body. She went to the bathroom and fatally collapsed.
Pinkeye in the right eye. My doctor has prescribed antibiotic eye drops and the staff is waiting for them to come from the pharmacy.
Staff weighed me this afternoon. 274.2 pounds. Obese but not as much as my roommate.
I am on my fourteenth day of a thirty day course of IV antibiotics. .

Sneakers: I hope the Pink Eye medication comes soon. Your eye must be very uncomfortable. So I guess you have another 16 days in rehab, if you just finished having the 14th day of a 30 day IV infusion regimen. A bit over 2 weeks. Sorry to AJ about losing Danielle one year ago today (Monday). It must have been overwhelming for AJ to find her, but I am glad it was not you or the boys. It is too bad that the kitchen staff keeps giving you eggs every morning. They may go on everyone's plate. Who knows?
Soutxed: Did your wife get to the doctor? I hope you made to Corpus Christi.
lorando: It is getting cool here every morning here too. But it was quite humid today (Monday) with thunderstorms but nothing overwhelming.
Uncle: The miles (133,000) on your bus are not too bad. The buses are always getting checked so you will probably be alright for a year or two with the same bus. Good luck with bowling. I cannot believe it starts so soon.
Have a good week, Everyone!!!!

I can feel the right eye but not the left. If is sometimes blurry adn. watery. That is the count the best I remember it. I was here on the fifth and the IV course started the next day. Before I get out I will receive my Social Security Retirement and the Boeing pension. No water, sewer, and trash disposal to pay for on even numbered months so I will not have to pay about $200 for that this month. Neither will I be buying food for me this month. AJ says I buy expensive food. The kitchen staff doesn’t give me coffee but they give me eggs that go uneaten.i l also get oatmeal, sausage, some kind of bread, and Orange juice.

Really nice night nurse today.
Managed to dump a urinal filled with cold urine in the bed. While the staff put fresh linens on the bed I wheeled myself to the pop machine to get a Diet Coke. Got back right as they got the bed refreshed.
Switched my pull-up and requested a fresh hospital gown.
Night nurse switched charger cords so they don’t get pulled loose by the wheelchair.
Excessive Heat Warning today in Metro Houston.
Roommate is now up and moving around.
Watching the KPRC Channel 2 morning news. Still no TV remote.
Can hear a bellower somewhere in the nursing home.

Sneakers--I wonder if the patients get the same meal, but then diabetics should have a sugar free meal. When wife was in hospital, she noticed she was getting diabetic meals. Probably the patient in the room before her was. Feeling for AJ on this sad anniversary. I guess you and the roommate get along. Do you talk to each other?
Patty--Wife had a good visit with the doctor. He put her back on the medication the hospital doctor removed. But they gave her a substitute medication. Prescribed another medication, but pharmacy hasn't called her it's ready. We leave this afternoon for the concert.
Uncle--Astros won with a walk-off home run.
Doctor visit went well. Got a call from financial advisor that there is another form to sign to get our accounts settled. Hopefully we get it done soon. Or next week may be a little tough.
Noticed temperatures over 100 degrees as we drive to CC. At least the venue has AC. Hope it works. See you Thursday God willing.

Got dressed in other than a hospital gown this morning.
Now wearing a bright orange T-shirt and a pair of dark gray sweatpants.
Listening to the KPRC Channel 2 news.
Going to have breakfast soon.
Sitting up in the wheelchair. Just shifted in the chair to move my sit-spot.

Good Tuesday Morning, All.
Hi, Sneakers. If I remember correctly, part of a care facility's rating comes from the number of reported pressure sores. So they have extra incentive to get you healed up. Your "uniform of the day" today sounds a lot more comfortable than a hospital gown. Maybe your remote will turn up soon. Think of all the remotes in that building. I wonder if it would survive a trip through the laundry cycle.
Hello, Uncle. Finally the sun is out, and the humidity is dropping nicely, and it's a sweatshirt type of day. Wishing you the same conditions when you start back to work. Years ago we started the year with a hurricane day - seemed like a bad omen at the time.
Hi, Patty - Hope your day is just right! I ordered my 2025 planner, which should arrive today. As I get older, I depend on it more and more and my memory less and less.
Mornin', soutxed. Safe travels to Corpus Christi and enjoy the concert. Yes, the college is over 200 years old and the 32nd oldest liberal arts college in the U.S.. I had to look it up, but they say it adds $93 million to the local economy annually. I didn't realize it was that much! I do know our church would be up a creek without it, because so many members teach or are retired from there.

I get plenty of carbs around here. Today, for the first time, I am not in a hospital gown. I am in a bright orange pocket T-shirt and dark gray sweatpants. I went to see Dr. Clause this morning. He said the wound looks very good. He scheduled my next appointment for the first of October. He wanted the nursing home to order me a post-surgical shoe. The roommate and I get along well, but the room has a divider down the middle and we don’t see each other much. We ask how the other is doing when he comes back from the bathroom. Got both IV antibiotics infusing right now. My PICC has two lines into it. Got a phone call from AJ when I was out. I returned the phone call. He said not much is going on. Watching the noon news on KPRC Channel 2. Remote control is still AWOL.
