Sneakers: A big congrats to Isaiah getting a job at Macy's. He seems to be a hard worker but he just needed the right paperwork to get another job!!!! I hope they treat him well.
Now we need to get John a job. He doesn’t have a state issued nondriver ID. He may need for the Harris County social worker vouch that he lives with me or when I get home I can do it. John is not as ambitious as Isaiah is. Going to watch the Democratic National Convention at the top of the hour.

I've resumed blood plasma donation on Thursday. With trips away from home, dentist visits and a cold, I wasn't there much this summer. Should be clear sailing now. lorando (NW PA), who knows what strategy would be used in a Rock Paper Scissors Tournament. Somehow they win and I guess it isn't luck. My bowling teammate said the survey went well. He's using a walker to get around now. He'll miss at least two months of work and part of the bowling season. patty7841, what part of the country did you go to school for grades 1 to 9? With rain and snow to deal with, it sure wasn't the south. That story about when you were young and that lady offered you a ride. Glad that lady didn't have an ulterior motive. You're right in that kids are told not to do that these days. soutxed, the Astros got back to winning tonight. It kind of helps that the Mariners are having a bad stretch. They even fired the manager. Take care everyone.

Good Morning, Sneakers. Add my congrats to Isaiah for being hired at Macy's. I hope he's looking forward to getting started. I woke up twice last night with a charley horse around my knee. Ouch! Think I'll try to go easy on it today. Any clues in the "Case of the Missing Remote"? I'd keep an eye on the butler.
Hello, Patty. Congrats on the new computer. It's probably worth the extra $ to have it set up by a techie. I'll be interested to hear how it works out, since I may do the same the next time I need to upgrade. My desktop has reached senior-computer status! Hope your new one gives you many years of good service.
Hi, Uncle. I'm glad your bowling teammate is on the mend. Hopefully the 2 months will go quickly for him, and that he'll get back to the lanes, better than new. Sounds like Seattle's slump (I guess it's more than a slump now) called for someone to be sacrificed; there's not much job security for an MLB manager or hitting coach. Hopefully the new (or interim) guys will ignite a spark. Yankees came back to win the Cleveland series after the terrible first game. You're back on track with your plasma donations. Way to go! I'm sure they were happy to see you.
Hello, soutxed. Oh, it was the real Barry Manilow! I thought it was a tribute concert. I hate to admit it, but I didn't realize he was still performing. He always came across as a likable person and a great performer. Glad you had a good time. Did your first game of the season go well? You've been doing it so long, it probably felt very comfortable for you. In my first 8 years of school in PA I was a walker. We didn't have a car back then. But my friend's dad had a Jeep, so he occasionally picked us up on really snowy days. Then I was a busser in high school in NJ, and many a time missed the bus home, and had to hitchhike in heavy traffic, since the school was about 5 miles away. (Just checked - 5.1 miles)

Sneakers--Hope you get the replacement remote soon. Now to get John an ID. Congratulations to Isaiah getting a job at Macy's. Hope they are a good fit. Not sure how well they take care of employees.
Lorando--So you were a walker to school also. Yes, it was the real Barry Manilow! The concert was an excellent experience. Only downside was trying to get a Uber ride back to the hotel. Too few drivers in CC but we made it. We stopped to talk to a couple we knew from the valley so that got behind the curve. Last night was a scrimmage so not always following the game rules on timing. But the varsity played with the usual 12-minute quarter except the 4th which was cut to 10 plays for each team. The 9th and JV played 20 plays for offense then 20 for defense for home team. Some of the cut back was due to the heat. Best action was the new lights at the stadium. New type of LED which we can flash and turn different colors. Also come on automatically at dark.
Patty--Congratulations on the new computer. It takes time to learn the new programs. Hopefully the tech can transfer the files from the old to the new. Manilow didn't bring any one from the audience on the stage with him.
Uncle--When does bowling start? Soon, I hope. Astros won against Baltimore last night, a definite playoff contender. Didn't hear about the Seatle manager being fired.
Mowed the lawn in the morning but got too tired to finish the back yard. Tractor who mowed the inside of the ditch left some Hugh ruts in the ground next to the ditch. Avoided mowing that section.
Not much else.

I have it but it is not set up. Isaiah finds out when his first day is today. Just went to pop machine. On the way there, one nurse came up and put eye drops in my right eye. Then, another one disconnected my IV balls. My IVs are balls that collapse and infuse the antibiotics. Usually used to them being bags hanging from a pole.No Diet Coke or Diet Dr Pepper left in the machine so I got a Powerade that was berry flavored. We are cooling down. No heat advisory or excessive heat warning today.Expected to be even cooler and wetter next week.

My friend who had the knee operation told me he had to wait 5 years. I didn't think it was that long, but the good part is it's paid for my provincial health care. Didn't cost him anything. lorando (NW PA), I can't wait to see him bowling again. His average is way better than mine. Once he is fully recovered, he should do well. A MLB manager can only work with what the GM gives him. If it isn't enough, he's replaced. Same thing happens in the NHL, but at least they still get paid. The Yankees seem to be back to their winning ways. Baltimore is in second place now. soutxed, bowling season start in just a few days. This coming Tuesday. It usually starts one week before school does. This coming week will be one of those bowling Tuesdays I don't have to get up early the next morning. I always appreciate those kind of Tuesdays. Houston has a good 5 game lead on Seattle. They just have to keep winning. TGIF! Take care everyone.

Sneakers--Maybe by now your remote is working. Cowboys game today and LL World Series with a team from San Antonio in the finals. Sadly, the ABC affiliate covers the Cowboys off preseason games so will miss Little Leage. Cool down here starts tomorrow with a chance of rain.
Uncle--Hope your missing bowler recovers quickly. NFL coaches get paid. Wish Jerry Jones would have fired McCarthy, but let's see what happens this year. After watching the American Sweethearts series, the Cowboy Cheerleader coach would do a better job of discipline, which the football team lacked last year. Astros keep on winning. But right now, would not have the bye in the playoffs.
Worked out in the gym went well. Did some cleanup around the house with wife. Then she got on the phone with younger sister. She needs chemo for the return of her cancer but needs $500 per session not covered by Medicaid in the valley. Or she could return to Arlington where her previous chemo was completely covered but would have to live with her daughter whose family is a too much stress. She refuses help from the family and seems to be leaning towards letting refusing the treatment and put it in God's hands. Wife also dealing with evil twin she calls almost every day and leaves identical message. Also, an attempt was made to hack my bank account so evil BIL up to something. Oh well we will get through this.
Last night's scrimmage went well. Fans love the new lights which we can change colors, flash and do all kinds of things with. Also being LED, they will cost less to use. I know a few will complain about the expense along with the Sup't getting a $10,000 raise.
Have a good weekend.

Good Saturday Morning to all.
Hello, soutxed. I've never seen a high school field with entertaining lighting. But Texas does things BIG! A 10K raise for the sup't seems very reasonable for a city your size. Yankees have been doing better since getting embarrassed by the White Sox. Maybe it was a needed wake up call. Even their closer managed not to blow their lead last night. Sorry to hear of your wife's younger sister's predicament. With the growing number of baby-boomer retirements, things will probably get worse before they get better. But you're right. You'll get through this!
Morning, Uncle. A five year wait for your friend's knee operation seems like a long time, but it's good that your Provincial Health Care System picked up the tab. Maybe his bowling average will rise even more once he's healed. I see the Mariners hired Edgar Martinez as their interim batting coach. Nothing like learning from the best!
Hi, Sneakers. Glad to hear the temperatures are moderating in Houston. We've had no days of 90 degree temps this summer, but there were 3 in a row in spring (early June, as I recall). Three days per year seems about average. That's plenty for me! I'm taking a break from cleaning the cabinets under the kitchen and bathroom sinks. Time to get rid of those seldom used things that become clutter after awhile. Will Isaiah's job be a long distance from home? It would be nice if public transportation was available, but that's not too likely, especially since it sounds like you're in a suburban area.

Remote still not working, but I have learned how to turn the TV on and off. I’m currently watching the AIG Women’s Open because I can’t change channels. Cool down here had been going on a couple of days, we have gone from Excessive Heat Warnings to Heat Advisories to nothing special. Rain chances increasing every day until about Tuesday and Wednesday. Just got up and turned off the TV. Now listening to SiriusXM Yacht Rock Radio. Got phone call from AJ asking how I was doing. Pretty good. Done with today’s IVs.

As of August 21, there have been 10 days this year where the high temperature has reached at least 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Detroit, Michigan. The last time it reached at least 90° F was August 4, 2024.

I will pass on the $6.99/week greedware. The nurses have me with a remote, all we have to do is get Maintenance to come configure it. Says it is free with in app purchases. It runs free for three days. Then the $6.99/week subscription kicks in and you get to pay. IMHO, a bait and switch scam. Especially because it wants you to give them a card first hoping you will forget to cancel. I have loaded it and found the price ridiculous. You can get a replacement remote for not much more.
