Sneakers--I bet when you are blocking an aisle looking for something and someone wants to pass, you make room. This lady refused to move for me. Worse was a lady asked her to move so young daughter (7-8) could get something and wheelchair lady went into a rage insulting the daughter, saying mom should have had an abortion, and more. I walked away thinking that wasn't going to end well. If it had been my child I would have (1) used my gun or (2) screamed for management. Mom just stood there and took it. Wheelchair lady was the one who yelled at me for nearly falling on her in the check stand. Cashier just kept checking, when lady said I didn't have vertigo, I walked out. My wife stayed and got our groceries. Told me when had several customers like that when she worked at that store which was one reason she asked for a transfer. Glad you got rain. We only got a trace here, but some parts of the valley had 2 inches.
I usually zip in and out grabbing known things so I don’t linger in one spot. Wheelchair lady probably has a very unhappy life given her constant whining and yelling. Last weather radar showed most of the rain coming down in the Gulf today.

Now listening to SiriusXM Yacht Rock Radio. Will probably listen to it until eleven o’clock at which time I will turn on the lunchtime news and “Jeopardy!” Just looked at taxable brokerage account. It was up 0.41% on the day so far.

Good Morning, All.
Hi, Sneakers. I agree with Patty about how your foot is healing. "Very good" is very good! That Tater Tot and BBQ beef casserole sounds good. You can try out your cooking skills at home trying to duplicate it. I've been up since 5AM trying to fix a computer glitch, and I'm more frustrated now than ever. I think my brain is overheating, so I'll come back and start anew tomorrow morning.
Hi, Patty. I suppose the lake has some effect on our summer weather. It sure does on the winter! The garbage truck just emptied the dumpster. Someone must have cleaned out their apartment this week, because when I went to put out my trash yesterday, there was no room. So I brought it back and stored it in the garage overnight. Now it's empty so I'll have to remember it the next time I go out.
Good Morning, Uncle. You probably might have missed that tree from your car's lower vantage point. I never thought about all the safety preparations you do before school starts. Good catch! It's finally time for some football. No idea how the Steelers will do this year. They've made so many changes and trades (very un-Steeler like) that it will take some time to figure them out. And the Jets are always the Jets; high expectations and low results. But one of these years....... Do the Stampeders look good this year? Enjoy the holiday weekend.
Hi, soutxed. Two players lost during the summer at Harlingen's other high school? That's sad! But classy to begin the year with a moment of silence for the visiting team. I can't recall ever seeing any arguments or bad behavior in any of the local stores. But we're a small town and people aren't stressed. I've even been in a line of cars at a red light when the first car didn't move when the light turned green, and everyone behind patiently waited for the next green to come around. Not a horn to be heard! .

May ask one of other cooks (basically everyone but John) to try making it. Haven’t had a computer glitch in a while. I was last on the ThinkPad in July. Probably getting E-mail from Carbonite Safe that I have not backed up the ThinkPad in a while, I’ve seen at least one. Looked at my E-mail. After a couple of weeks every Monday morning I get a reminder that the ThinkPad was last backed up the 28th of July. Got a phone call from AJ saying it was raining at home and he was stretched out on his bed.

Taxable brokerage account up 0.28% going into the Labor Day holiday weekend. Next stock market trading session Tuesday, September 3rd.
Hit the nurse call button. They have not given me my Friday IV antibiotics. Needed my urinal emptied and the CNA did that and she was going to remind the nurse to check if I needed antibiotics today.
Will get my mystery supper in about an hour.
Now that I can switch channels on the TV, I‘ll watch the Astros-Royals baseball game tonight. Or mostly listen to it and type on the iPad.

Last night, I used Google to look up how to set up a GE universal remote. Was able to make the remote control control the TV in my room. I'm amazed you waited that long to figure it out on your own. Tech seems to be your thing.

My blood donation went okay. I decided to use my right arm. The donation went well, but now I have a bump where the needle went in. Not a problem, I'll just go back to my left arm next week. I've done the majority of donation there. They have to get the needle through scar tissue and it's a little harder for them. soutxed, that must have been a long wait. The drivers must not have kept track of how the game was going. I'll assume it was a hot day or do drivers usually wait elsewhere? Good to hear your doctor's appointment went well. patty7841, I've set a reminder on my phone about the knee brace. Should be good from now on. That new member of your team might be back with her old team a year from now But he's ours this season. I consider a dry run a bit of a relief. Using your assigned bus that you'd be doing the school year with does help. lorando (NW PA), when I drove my route in my car, I avoided going the regular way. In the bus, I thought I'd try it the way it is on the map. Glad I did. The Steelers have a new QB or two. I hope The Seahawks old QB does well. This might be his last stop, but what do I know? The Jets are a wait and see kind of team. I didn't think Aaron Rodgers would do must last year, but didn't know why. If he doesn't do well, they will say it's because of his age. If he does well, they will say it's because he's Aaron Rodgers. Again, what do I know? The Stampeders aren't having a good season. They are 4 and 6 and have their annual back to back labour day games with Provincial rival the Edmonton Elks. I fear the Stamps won't do well this weekend and next. TGIF! Take care everyone.

Tech seems to be your thing. I was waiting for the staff to do it and then somehow I thought of Google. So now the staff doesn’t have to do it. I am beginning to realize that I won’t be here much longer. I am thinking it’s almost over being here. IIRC, six more days. Now I need to take my cell phone to the vending machine to call them to fill the machine. They are getting to the point where very little remains in the machine that I would like. Today, I decided to have a sugared Dr Pepper because that sounded better than a Coke Classic. Had to have the instructions to set it up. Once I got them, it was easy. Tech is definitely my thing, I was a BSEE software engineer for 32.468 years (the 37 sheets I had to go through to retire had that number many times). Thought when I retired I would not keyboard as much but that turned out to be not true). Just got my last IV of the day disconnected.

Sneakers--Glad you got the remote fixed. That breakfast sounds good. So, your foot is doing better which means an exit from there soon. Wheelchair lady probably has a very unhappy life given her constant whining and yelling is a very true statement. I still feel that when she denied my vertigo I should have called for a manager to remove her as she violated the ADA, but probably nothing would happen. A trace of rain in Harlingen, but the upper valley had heavy 2-3 inches of rain. None falling in the reservoir. I noticed your ability with technology. Many older people have a difficulty with it. Caretaker sister is one. She is great with medical stuff but refuses to learn technology unless forced to.
Lorando--Hate that when people fill a shared garbage can. A friend of mine lived in a neighborhood where four families shared a garbage can, but one was a contractor who often filled it with debris from construction jobs. Other families complained to him and the city, but nothing has changed. Astros win last night. Cowboys look good but will not be Super Bowl contenders with the current owner and coach. Four years ago, one of our basketball players was in the wrong place at the wrong time and was murdered. A moment of silence and a presentation of his jersey to the mother happened before the 1st game of the season. It is sad when these things happen to young people.
Uncle--The game drivers either wait in or near the buses or in the stands so they know when the game ends. Astros win and have a 4-game lead in the west. Good way to remember the knee brace. Hope your bowling goes well.
First varsity game went well. Noticed the change in security last night. A group of law enforcement called the Guardians now patrol the area. They're more heavily armed than the police and school district security. Sign of the times. Since Covid, I believe all retail stores need armed security and train all employees in de-escalating a situation. Sadly, that is where our country is and this election year isn't going to make things better.
Daughter is coming in two weeks to celebrate her birthday. Waited too long to book a condo so will be staying with us. But one day at the beach. Sadly we went this whole summer without going and we only have ourselves to blame.
Enjoy the weekend.

When my mom was in the nursing home for rehab after her hip surgery we would bring her snacks and a couple of bottles of orange pop. Then all she needed was a cup of ice and she was good to go. Can AJ bring you anything or can you get an HEB delivery there?

Haven't done much today since I'm having a really bad vertigo attack. Took a Covid test last night because it made me feel so sick. Thankfully it came back negative. Woke up just after 7am after moving from the couch to bed in the middle of the night. Laid there talking to my wife until she got up to take the dog out. The bedroom door was open and then I woke myself up snoring and the bedroom door was closed and it was now 9am. Got up but I didn't want to because that starts the spinning.
Been in the recliner most of the day watching college football. Clemson/Georgia until Georgia ran away with it. Put on WVU/Penn State but Maryland/UConn were playing and I didn't know why. At halftime I found out when they showed highlights of a thunderstorm wreaking havoc on the stadium. Tablet is down to 34% battery so I need to charge it and try to get a couple of things done.

Hello, Sneakers. You worked for 32.468 years! That sounds like something an engineer would say. Did you have much freedom to set your own schedule, or did you have set hours? Just finished watching St. Louis beat the Yankees. NY came back from a big deficit, but fell one run short. I think soutxed said the Astros are now 4 games up in the AL West. There are very few divisions where the leaders are ahead comfortably - I'd say perhaps the Phillies and Brewers. Other than that, there are still so many possibilities. How was your "Mystery Supper" last night. That reminds me of the military days when the mess hall served what they called "Assorted Casseroles" Those were usually the days when going out for a pizza was in order.
Hello, Uncle. Actually the Steelers have 3 new QBs this year. I'd like to see Wilson do well; he and Justin Fields are both experienced. They traded last year's third string QB for Buffalo's third string QB. Aaron Rogers is a bit of a puzzle, but who knows? Maybe he's motivated to show he can still play. He seems to like NJ though. Maybe someday school buses will have auto-routing systems like UPS or Amazon trucks, All you'll have to do is scan the students' cards when they board, and the auto system will pick the quickest and safest route to get everybody home.
Howdy, Patty. I went to Walmart this morning for a couple 2032 batteries, and it was really busy. They re-designed the whole store last year and added a good sized addition, all without closing the store. It took over a year, but it turned out well. What I started to say was that they have so many self-serve checkouts with new software there is almost always one open, even when it's busy. I needed the battery to replace the one in my car's key fob. Got a message on the dashboard that it was time for a new battery. I guess 2 ½ years is about right.
Hi, soutxed. It's been a hectic 3 days. Our pastor had a heart attack on Thursday, and had the Cardiac Catheterization Procedure in Pittsburgh yesterday. Haven't heard what the next step is, but we're hoping for the best. Too bad there has to be armed security at school events and in retail stores. But we don't choose the times we live in. We boomers were so lucky to grow up when we did. I'm assuming that at least most of us are Boomers. So far, Penn State is handling West Virginia nicely. I was reading that all the schools in Monongalia County, where the WVU campus is located, (even high school and elementary) were closed yesterday due to predicted traffic and safety concerns. Hey, don't blame yourself for not getting to the beach this year. You and your wife have had a lot on your plate, and a day at the shore just wasn't one of them.

soutxed, if I was one of the drivers, I'd sit in the stands and watch the game. But A/C does sound good though. The Astros are doing well. It's a shame they played all their games against New York at the beginning of the season. They should spread series like that out. Too bad there are armed security guards in your area. What will things be like in ten years time. Any better? edindetroit, glad you had a negative covid test. Hope your vertigo clears up soon. lorando (NW PA), seems like the Steelers have had the same head coach since football was invented. New QBs, but the same coach might be what they need. Can a team have too many QBs? I guess not. Take care everyone.

The 32.468;years is what my retirement paperwork said. We had a mix of “computer available sixteen hours a day, schedule yourself during that time” and fixed hours. The fixed hours were my downfall. Wanted to work second shift but if I tried to work first shift I would be very groggy. Tried to come in at noon but that didn’t work. When our work declined, I got laid off. Got another $600 a month in retirement for staying 60 days and explaining my software to the coworker who would be taking it over. Watching the Astros-Royals game. Six innings without any scoring yet. My lunch and supper meals are “mystery meals” because you don’t know what it is before you get it. Breakfast is mostly consistent. Only the baked good is different from day to day. I had sweated a lot in my hospital gown and eventually got cold and wet. Just got a dry one. Now lying on my right side. Night nurse just popped in with the bedtime pills.
